Not really true in Rafa's case though. He built a great side capable of challenging the big 2 with Valencia and created the best Liverpool side over the last 20 years with his transfer dealings. I disagree with a lot of his tactics and his bizarre obsession with sports science, but he's still a great manager.

Its absolutely not true in Rafa's case when you look at those clubs. Rafa is a 4-2-3-1 man, he will play it in many variations but that is what he is. give him the tools and he will make one that is very tough to beat, (valencia liverpool) don't give him the tools, and he suffers (inter, currently chelsea).

Should be noted that 3 managers failed at Inter because if the state of the side before Stramaccioni got then playing well.

Id say he was an average manager not great. Yes has done great things in the past but also failed at times too. Is a manager who does not learn from his mistakes too.

to do what he did, and what he pioneered is certainly not average, not by a long shot.

Well other top sides who lost their manager since his sacking from Inter obviously thought so. Like i said he got this job for one reason and one reason only.

Not really. He gave his reasons, and you dismissed them tbf. Despite the madhouse, Chelsea is a good job (apparently, personally i think you'd have to be a ********* to work there). No doubt he was using it as a stepping stone to get back in to other big clubs.

I don't blame him for taking the job, no offers from teams he believes he should be managing (i think otherwise) in 2 years and this comes along! Luckiest man on the planet! I have constantly said this is not all his fault but a lot of it is currently.

Which teams? As he said, he did have offers. But you dismissed that.

All we heard about/i remember was the Villa job. There would have been a top club who lost manager in that 2 year gap for sure which wasn't offered to him.

Here's another joke. Total number of registered first team players: 20. Total number of players out on loan: 24. This club really are special sometimes.

He said he had offers, he didnt want them. Struggling to think of a bunch of top clubs he should have gone to tbh. And has his eye on the Madrid job too now, whether that will happen is anyone's business.

Yup, I made this point earlier.

For all the rafa madness/hate, all of this was totally preventable. All the club had to do was provide him with players, whether some transfers or recalls. Did neither and now they reap what they sow.

Have never blamed Rafa for that either because quite clearly he has nothing to do with transfers. There is at least 4-5 players we could do with out on loan at the moment helping other ******* clubs!

Courtois (why the **** are Chelsea going for Butland?!), Essien (most importantly), De Bruyne, Lukaku, McEachran and Piazon could all have played at very least bit part roles in a squad, especially when you take into account the fact that Rafa's a much more rotation-based manager than his predecessors in this role. It really is bonkers, that much everyone here can agree on.

Yeah and hats off to Butland for turning it down! Essien was a strange one as i didn't see him playing much at the start of the season and needed a long run of games. But when Real came in for him i was thinking why are we letting him go to a club better than us? Totally agree with the rest of the players you named that could help us at the moment. Even Chalobah could add something different to the side!

Chelsea have played 42 games this season. Think its 20 played under Rafa. Before his first game he said they need more players. But they expect him to go the next 4 months without any kind of reiniforcements, AND hold off challengers who are reinforcing. Someone up there has gone mad. If you get any kind of injury crisis, you are in big trouble

I think letting McEachran go out on loan is a huge mistake, if he's as good as has been made out in the past.

Essien I could see the idea behind letting him go out on loan at the start of the season, but to Real, who are well stocked for midfielders? And then selling off other CMs? Crazy dealing by Roman, or whoever was behind it.

Injuries to Mikel and Ramires and suddenly Chelsea are in the position of having to play two midfielders who aren't natural pivot players with no backup at all. It's a very tricky situation right now.

Players out on loan:
Courtois

Kalas-Chalobah-Bruma-Van Aanholt

Essien-McEachran

Kakuta-Piazon-De Bruyne

Lukaku
That's not even a bad side lol.

That side's good enough for a mid-table finish.

I could have understood it if we kept hold of others of got another CM in but we didn't! Funny thing is Josh would make an excellant DLP
