Mohammed Salah passed his medical, looks set to join shortly. On it's own, the transfer is not too bad. Only 21 and he performed amazingly well against us in the CL over both legs. Lots of pace and good finisher. Still rather wish he didn't have to join though ...

Wouldn't be surprised either

That you keep posting without any proofs?

2010 was the first time Rooney stalled contract and it was Fergie who went public and that was master stroke.

This time it was more of a fiction between previous manager and player.

How times Chelsea bend over to keep Terry and Lampard?

Once to keep Terry ... Zero times with Lampard

Lampard was all set to join Inter when Jose was there.

Btw, I'm still waiting you to post 3 times when Rooney held club to ransom.

Except he got convinced to stay. He didn't rebel or blackmail the club into anything unlike Wazza or Terry. And wait, 2010 was when he complained United didn't have any ambition. Then he complained that he wasn't getting enough limelight or whatever. Oops that makes it twice then ... Doesn't change anything though

Lampard was close to signing with Inter and then Chelsea offered mega buck and he signed 5 year deal. You can deny all you want.

Rooney went public once and that was because Fergie said that in media.

Oh it changes everything. So you saying thrice was wrong. Rooney made *** out of United once in 2010. This time he didn't make any mistake.

Edit: Not to mention Drogba too. You keep your key players simple as that.

Even if what you say is true, if they did that now they would be asked to **** off even though Terry has been integral to our side this season

And no I did not understand how it changed anything ... At the end of the day, you are still caving into his wishes multiple times when you can just as easily take a stand and stop treating him like some untouchable

You offer you best player contracts when it is about to expire. It's not like Rooney has asked for contract in 2011 after signing one in 2010. Not sure why it's so hard to understand. Rooney's contact is about to expire in 18 months and he can sign pre contract with any club in 12 months. He is 28 years old and he won't all of a sudden decline and become a back up player in his early 30s. At least he has 4-5 very good years left in him and ManUtd are making sure they are getting his best years for the club.

If we don't offer him contract we will lose him for nothing and he will improve any team in the league massively.

We'll take him if you want?

Hi everyone, As you can imagine this is a very important day in my life, and with these lines I would like to express the memories and emotions that come to me as I write. This letter is written from my heart, and first of all I would like to say that I will never forget all the affection given to me by the Chelsea fans. From the very first day until the last. With your support and affection I have grown up as a player and I have had an amazing time both on and off the pitch. I will always feel the gratitude towards you. Always. No words are enough to give back all the things I have received. There has been plenty of good moments: the FA Cup, my first trophy as a Blue; the immense happiness of winning titles for the first time in the club’s history, such as that magical Champions League night in Munich and the Europa League…

On the other hand, I have experienced some complicated situations from a personal point of view, mainly during the last six months. Every message I got through the social media, every nice word you have said to me on the street, and of course, your support in the stadium, has made me feel incredibly proud of the Chelsea fans; you deserve a team like the one you’ve got, with so many fantastic players. I won’t forget the faith you put in me when I was given the player of the year award the last two seasons. I feel really proud and I will never forget those nights. Thank you so much for the way you have treated me, you have been unbelievable. I hope you understand that after going through a complicated and, for me, new situation in the last few months, I believe this is the best choice in order to carry on with my football career and to keep enjoying this sport. Before last summer, my intention was to stay here for a long time; as long as the club wanted me to, and to keep winning trophies for Chelsea FC. This is how happy I was in the club and in the city. However, as you all know, things changed after the preseason. From feeling like an important player, I started to experience some difficult situations and I felt unable to help the team to the extent that I wanted and was used to. Obviously, I fully respect the circumstances. Football is a team sport and it’s not easy to play regularly in such a good squad. In sports you may win or lose, but the most important thing is to give everything. I hope you know and feel that I have always done so. In every game, in every training session, without exception. I have always tried my best for the club. I would like to emphasise the affection, admiration and respect that I’ve had for my former team mates since the first day. I want to thank the captains for their help and understanding at all times. They made me feel comfortable when I arrived and they have supported me throughout the difficult times this season. I thank all my former team mates for these two and a half years and I wish them the best, personally and professionally, for the future. Of course I have been closer to some of them, but the most important thing is that my years in Chelsea have left me with great friends. Friends forever, football rivalries aside.

I also want to highlight the day-to-day job of every member of the Chelsea staff: medical team, kit men, staff at Cobham and Stamford Bridge, media and marketing department, Chelsea TV team… All of them are very important in making this club a great one. Thank you for your treatment and your efforts to make the life of the players easier. Furthermore, thanks to every manager I have had the pleasure to work with during my time here. They have all been a big help for my progression as a player. I have always respected their decisions, whatever they were; they made me more mature and a stronger person. You learn from everything, and certain situations make you think about other team mates who are coping with similar situations more regularly. Thank you Andre for giving me the opportunity to join Chelsea FC. Without your support, none of this would have happened. To Robbie and Rafa, for their unlimited trust in me. And to Jose, for making me a stronger player, because in difficult moments, I have learnt to remain positive and to keep working hard. Lastly, I want to thank the Club, and in particular its owner, Roman Abramovich, for trusting me and making an important investment when signing me.

Also for their understanding regarding my situation over the last months. I’m very glad to have been part of the squad that made his and our dream come true: winning the Champions League on that unforgettable night in Munich. Additionally, my years in Chelsea have been profitable for the club, which I’m very pleased about. I want to make clear that the stage that now comes to an end has been extremely important for me, personally and professionally. Although many of you, like myself, never thought this moment would come, this is football and a new chapter is about to begin. I would have liked to say good bye to all of you in the stadium, or in a press conference, but it has not been possible. I’m sure, i will be able to do it in the future, because is what you deserve. Evidently, today is a day of mixed feelings, remembering the past and looking forward to the future and what it has to bring. I look forward to being happy and to enjoy what I like the most: play football. I will never forget my time in Chelsea and the affection I take with me, I will keep forever. I wish you the best. A big hug to all of you.

THANK YOU so much,

Juan

We'll miss him, but he was amazing whilst we had him. I honestly have no hard feelings towards the guy, and secretly hope he succeeds. Of course, United are so full of fail this season that Mata succeeding doesn't mean that they're going to actually win...

He truly was the special Juan.

Depends on what team it is. In terms of Chelsea, maybe not. Regardless of what Hazard might become, there can be no denying that at the moment Mata is still a superior player to him and particularly Oscar, who's been no great shakes creatively this season.

There's a huuuuuuuge amount of trying to downplay Mata in this thread, and funny to me though it is, the sooner everyone stops doing it the sooner we can all move on. Otherwise everyone's just going to keep taking the ****; justifiably so, I'd say!

Don't get me wrong i am not slating Mata in any way shape or form, i love the man and he has been ability wise one of Chelsea's best players ever. But it's hard comparing Mata, Hazard and Oscar because all 3 are different and offer different things. But to me Hazard could reach super star level.

Oscar hasn't looked anything special to me this season... for CJacko to compared him to Mata is ludicrous and very amusing.

Well you have not watched much of Chelsea then or have different ideas of what he should be doing. The reason Mata is not in the side is because of what Oscar does in his all round game. Jose want's Chelsea pressing high up the pitch and Oscar averages our 3rd highest tackles per game which i reckon has to be the highest in Europe for an AMC.

Only because Jose has decided that he didn't want to use him, like I said earlier, treated him like a broken toy. His stats over the last 2 seasons have been amazing, any team will hugely miss that. Like I say.... it will be a huge blow, what happens if one of them 3 get injured? You just can't under-estimate what Mata done for Chelsea and what he provided over the last 2 seasons. The way Jose has gone about this, has been very bad for Chelsea, not only has he just forced Mata out, best Chelsea player he's also given him to United, which is the funniest thing of all, because we desperately needed a boost/helping hand.

Just because his stats were amazing which they were over the past 2 season does not mean he should stay/start this season! How hard is it for some people to realize this! Jose did not force him out! It was an unfortunate situation where Mata did not suit this new system Chelsea are working towards. And if this system was showing signs of not working then i'm sure Mata would still be at Chelsea or given more chances but it is showing signs of working, we are playing the best football since the double winning season under Ancelotti. Two things on the Utd thing, yeah he will improve you but you have arguably improved in the position you were most strongest in anyway, your problems lie elsewhere. And this will not weaken Chelsea, Mata has hardly played this season and we are 2 points off top spot, still in the FA Cup and Champions League and unbeaten against all the "top" sides. If anything we have strengthened this window buy signing 2 players in problem positions in defensive/centre midfield and a proper winger and along with that made a profit!!!!!! This in my opinion a good deal for all parties.

Well, goodbye Juan! One of the greatest ever Chelsea players quality wise.

From now on, I'd like to ask all of you here - stop with the bullshit, all of this **** surrounding this transfer. No, we are not bitter, we've accepted the loss. Some of us are sad, because this guy is absolute treasure. Few weeks back, I said I want him to leave just so he can be happy -- my wish came true. This guy deserves it. Noone deserves it more than him. Absolute role model. Yes, it is United we sold him to, but **** it. Worse things have happened with this football club (paying 50m for Torres for example). Good luck to the guy. As I said, United will appreciate him more than us at the moment, which is good enough for me.

So, yeah, stop with the bullshit. Like, really, end it once and for all, it's really not worth it. If you are at least a little sensible, you will understand.

//Michael, please redirect incoming Mata related **** to United thread please.
