Vidic struggles with quick forwards. Torres, as a quick forward (and formerly one of the best strikers on the planet) gave him a lot of grief. Thus, Vidic struggled quite a bit against Torres. Not because Torres is his arbiter or something silly like that, but because he's not as good at dealing with strikers with that much pace and trickery. As Torres has slowed down, Vidic has found it easier to handle him.
I really don't see why this is such a massive deal for everyone, but every time it comes up both sides use the same tired arguments despite both being right and wrong. It's the definition of insanity up in this *****.

Here is it. Vidic was made to look like a fool when Torres pounced on the loose ball when Liverpool won 4-1. That's it.
After that Liverpool was sent off when he brought down Gerrard. IIRC Torres scored grand total of 3 goals for Liverpool against ManUtd. Once in 4-1 win, next is when Liverpool won 2-0 when Ferdinand lost the foot race with him and the 3rd goal was when Liverpool lost 2-1 to ManUtd. He scored header and that had nothing to do with Vidic.
When Vidic lost the ball in 4-1 game Liverpool started with Torres' ***** and it was hilarious everyone lapped it up so easily. Almost all the time Vidic had Torres in his pocket. Not Vidic but Vidic and Rio combo.
