Massive 3 points that especially with Arsenal losing. 1st half was abysmal but Schurrle and Hazard in the 2nd half were sensational.

Schurrle's finishing was class ... Hitting a patch of form in front of goal at the right time

Must say 1st half was abysmal, apart from the defence who kept it all together it was a woeful game of football. 2nd half a different story, excellent performances from Schurrle and Hazard. I got a feeling this performance may very well be the making of Schurrle. Massive 3 points that, lets put all the pressure on City!

Now about to start a 12 hour shift and that win along with Arsenals defeat and the vision of Pardew headbutting a player will make my shift oh so much bearable!

UTC!!!

Schuerrle in the first half was so so bad, but I had a feeling he was going to score when I was reading all the comments about him at half time. Hehe

A game of two halves eh? Fantastic for Schurrle, the guy looked utterly thrilled and he really needed that confidence boost. On paper he should be a key part of our team but he hadn't really put it together before today. Wouldn't mind seeing him starting upfront again.

Oscar desperately needs a rest, he looks seriously jaded.

Has Matic has a bad game in a Chelsea shirt yet?

Think the FA Cup game vs City he was beaten by Toure on that occasion but that was it, has made us so much stronger.

Was average game, not bad. He was one of the few players who showed up in that game.

To be fair, not many players can stop Tour?, so it's not exactly embarrassing for Matić.

Oh no i totally agree, i actually think it was more to do with who was partnering him in the 2nd game and toure's change in partner too.

Come on Subtle, expected you to be quicker!

Also totally backs up my point about selling Mata now, to rebalance in summer.

I was busy this evening! ;_;

I get why we sold him, I just don't get why we then immediatelyspend a fair portion of the money on Salah and Zouma. Like I've said before though, I want to see how the summer unfolds before I really judge the whole transfer saga.

Not sure about Salah, but Zouma is the type of young defender Jose likes. Guess he didnt want to have to compete for his signature.

Did you read the WHOLE article. If not, please do. It clearly states Mata sale was not to rebalance in the summer. This year the revenue will be higher by 35-40 directly and the expenditure will be less, also we aren't out of Champions League this year.

"Further, it becomes easier to understand that the decision to sell De Bruyne and Mata was more about recognising the market value of these players, selling high on players that were surplus to requirements, and earning a considerable return on its initial investment as opposed to the misguided notion that the club had to sell assets in order to avoid FFP sanctions."

Because no one else would've paid that amount? And his value would've tanked heavily by summer plus he wasn't happy. Salah would take care of his seat on the bench.

I would gladly take a few million less rather than sell him to United

Yes I read it. I also don't wholly rely on a pro Chelsea website to get my information. The Mata deal now makes it substansially easier for Chelsea to heavier business in the summer. Mata's deal counts for this year. Your CL revenue will come under the next set of reports that UEFA look at. As would have any summer Mata deal. To use a terrible pun, it was a Mata of timing.

Utd were the only side in for him at the time and as has been said a million times he WANTED to stay in England and why should we be bitter and treat him poorly and refuse his demands? He had been an excellent servant to us so why shouldn't we accept his demands.

But but why United, why not Liverpool? /sarcasm
