So Atletico will have to pay 3Million Euros per game (6M for 2 legs of Semi-Final) if they want him to play vs us and their president confirmed "That's a figure we can not pay."

Let the hate begin! Chelsea FC - Ruining football since 2003. (We didn't exist before that, no history, remember!)

Even though it makes perfect sense on Chelsea's part, but who cares.

That puts my confidence up more if we face atletico without a doubt! He showed against Barcelona how much difference he can make especially in the first leg.

My internet has been down since Sunday but what a game that was on Tuesday night! Thing is now days its nothing to do with "luck". When you do this on more than one occasion it just becomes something Chelsea do! I do love how people hate Chelsea doing well, it always seems to be us flying to flag for England in Europe keeping our coefficient up so Arsene's 4th place trophy actually means something but all i saw was jealousy is the only way to describe it. Absolutely sensational performance and for me it just showed why Jose is the best tactician on this planet, he went through every scenario and had a plan for everything. Its not just having the attention to detail and having all areas covered, its making your players believe its going to work and having them on board 100% and every player played out of their skin. It was just another sensational night in the making history process of Chelsea FC, how lucky are we to witness things like this!

After watching the Champions League highlights from last nights game i didn't think i would laugh at a game as much as i did when we smashed Arsenal 6-0 but Atletico-Barca was absolutely comedy gold! How anyone can enjoy watching this team and think they are the best of the best is just beyond me, you see kids teams defend better than that, Atletico were unlucky not to win 5-0! For the goal the ball was pinging around the box and Barca had 3 defenders in the box and Iniesta and Xavi just sitting outside, it was absolutely comical. People complain that Jose likes to keep games tight, 1 or 2-0 and shut up shop but i'd rather than than play like Barca every day of the week! I'm actually quite annoyed they are out because i would play them in a heat beat!

On our potential draws for the semi's i don't see there being a weak side we can get but i think there is a better draw.
We all know about Bayern and what they possess and we know we can beat them and we know they know we can beat them and the Pep vs Jose thing we all know who wins that battle. Over 2 legs i feel we could beat them, they love to keep hold of the ball and we proven time and time again there is no better team than Chelsea at soaking up that possession and hitting on the counter.

Atletico are the surprise package here but certainly here on merit, top of the Spanish League and playing some excellent football. I think i'd rather play them over the 1 game though. Atletico play a lot like an English side, very strong in the tackle, pressing all over the pitch and hitting at pace on the counter attack.

Real Madrid are the side i fear the most, they have a European genius in Ancelotti in charge and with a front line of Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema i think its the best front line in the world. Having said all that they are also very vulnerable at the back and if anyone will want to get one over on Real then it surely will be Jose.
Either way its going to be very tough no matter who we get and all the sides offer something different but one thing is sure. When them balls are being drawn out tomorrow Real, Atletico and Bayern will not be happy if they see the piece of paper which says "Chelsea FC ENG" on it!

UTC!

I have just voted Azpilicueta as my player of the season on the Chelsea website. I think and expect most people will vote for Hazard but for me Azpilicueta over the season has been without a doubt our most consistent player and he gets nowhere near enough credit for what he does.

My vote will be for either Azpi or Cahill. Hazard has been great but no where near as consistent as the two i mentioned.

A lot of people just think of attacking players, goals and assists when it comes to the player of the year which is annoying but I 100% think Azpi deserves it.

Yeah just done it and voted for Azpi, was a tough decision.

Its definitely a smart move by Chelsea to put in this clause... but it might be even smarter not to execute it. These are Champions League semifinals, if Courtois gets cockblocked from participation by his own club, I'd imagine he is going to be absolutely furious.

This can have a very bad outcome in terms of his longterm future in Chelsea.

Atletico and Courtois know that and that he's under contract at Chelsea. He was even stopped to play in Super Cup 2012 but was then later allowed. Chelsea aren't technically stopping him, or "cockblocking" him, they just put up a fee that he and the club that loaned him agreed to while signing the loan contract.

They can pay the fee if they want him to play, simples.

Azpi and Hazard have been the best players this season. Azpi gets my vote -- purely because he was the most consistent.

All parties would have known about this clause when he signed at the start of the season so to complain now would be poor form. I'd be more annoyed at Atletico if they don't pay the money as they accepted this clause.

So what if its under contract? Nobody expected Athletico to get this far, If he can't play in the semis, there's a good chance he will go apeshit and give you the finger when the time comes to renew his Chelsea contract (out in 2 years, I believe).

Its Roman's risk to take, but I would tread carefully around this one.

If he goes ape then we sell him for more than 30mill and keep Cech for another 2-3 years whilst looking for a replacement, no loss at all.

so selling 1 of the best young keepers in the world is no loss at all WOW

If he takes this out on us then we are better off without the lad, who knows what keepers will be around in 2-3 years time. 1 player does not make a team mate, Chelsea of all teams know this.

So a player will want to leave his parent club because the club he is at on loan refuse to pay a fee they are obliged to pay in order for him to be on the pitch? Makes sense.

He is 22 and about to play in CL semis, do you honestly think he gives a rat's *** about legalesse and contact technicalities? Doesn't sound like any 22 year olds that I know. And he already had some issues with Chelsea in the past, executing this clause might move him over the edge.

Like I said, the clause in itself is fine, I've seen some people on Facebook whining how its unfair for Chelsea to use it and that's complete bullshit - Courtois is Chelsea's player and they can do whatever they want.

But if you want to keep your future goalkeeper happy, I don't know if I would risk it.
