Why? Why not sign someone actually good? Lacazette, Gignac, Meier? They've all had better seasons, and would all be far far cheaper.

Really? Gignac and Meier?! If we're really looking to improve our squad those guys certainly aren't the calibre of player we want. Lacazette potentially but when you look at his goals in Ligue 1 this season 9 of the 27 he scored have come from penalties and I doubt he'll want to play second fiddle to Costa, also he's very similar to Remy. Personally I'd be happy with either Mandzukic, Falcao or Vietto, preferably Vietto but he seems Atletico bound.

I've been a supporter of the Mandzukic over Costa move last summer. I was proven wrong, and I'm very happy that I was. Nevertheless, I would still love to have Mandzukic at the club, even as a backup, assuming he would accept that. Mandzukic is probably the best option for the PL style of football, that wouldn't cost a shitload of money. Doubt any of this will happen, but a man can dream.

But Falcao's form does not suggest he's the calibre of player we want. Why don't we just sign a good goalscorer, who is content at being backup? Manzukic or Vietto are good options, better then all three of those guys in fact but will they be OK playing second fiddle? And at the end of the day we don't need to improve, we need to fortify and have more depth for the crapload of competitions we will be playing in. I don't see how any of those guys are worse then Drogba, or even Remy who have both served us well enough this season.

Yes, Falcao's form doesn't suggest he's the calibre of player we want but neither does Mandzukic if we're saying that. Now Falcao may never be the same again, most players never are after injuring their ACL but for the prices being quoted I definitely think he's worth taking a risk on. I doubt Mandzukic would want to play as backup, however Vietto might be more willing. Whoever we sign it just means more competition for places, which is never a bad thing. Also we definitely need to improve not fortify.

That's the thing you see, Drogba and Remy have served us 'well enough', well enough isn't good enough if we want to retain the title and challenge in the CL. The fact is we need another striker who's better than Remy, now that may not be Falcao but his footballing career suggests he is. The way I see it is say for example we play Barcelona or Bayern without Costa in the CL, I wouldn't be confident with Remy leading the line for us.

I agree, but it will be very difficult if not impossible to find a Costa level striker willing to play mainly as a sub/in cups. In an ideal world it would surely be better that Costa was playing the CL games and a solid back up striker could fill in in the EPL?

Of course it'll be difficult to find someone of the quality we're looking for who's willing to accept Costa is the main man. However with Mourinho it's as simple as if you perform you'll continue to play and if you don't you won't play and the players know this, so I don't think all this first team or backup stuff matters as much with Jose, it all boils down to who he can trust. In an ideal world when Costa's out we should have someone who comes in and scores goals, simple, now in all fairness to Remy he didn't do to bad when given the chance but like I stated I don't think he's quite good enough in the games against the elite teams if Costa's out.

But talking about transfers I don't actually think a striker should be our main priority. In my opinion we need another Fabregas type first and foremost, except this one should be able to protect our back four better.

Am I the only chelsea fan who isn't bothered either way if Falcao is signed or not? If he joins I'm willing to back him and welcome him to the club but if he isn't signed I won't really care tbh.

I don't think him joining / not joining was the problem, but the sum he is being signed for, and his wages. I don't mind having Falcao in the team, but those numbers are simply ridiculous, if they are true.

Falcao scored today for Columbia set up by cuadrado. Can't imagine we will be seeing that too often at the bridge next season :p

I'm against having Falcao on brutal wages just to see him warm the ******* bench or do a Torres.

My 2 cents.

footballitalia @footballitalia #Inter are preparing a bid to sign #CFC winger Juan Cuadrado on loan until a permanent move in 2016.http://www.football-italia.net/67516/inter-move-cuadrado …

Seems like Falcao deal is done. I honestly can't see much wrong with it. He surely won't be worse than Drogba

Falcao on a loan deal is fine. If he is as **** as he was for utd we are not stuck with him and if he ends up scoring goals and playing well then it's a good piece of business.

There are strong rumours that Remy wants away from the club because of it. I'd much rather have Remy + a prospect on decent wages than Falcao.

Agreed. Although from what I have seen, Remy only wants to be assure that he will have adequate chances to impress and only failing that will he ask for a move. Also if he does move, apparently we are holding out for £20m and will use the money to replace him with Griezzmann

Another thing that is worth mentioning about Falcao is how he was insistent on playing in the EPL even after that horror season at United when he easily could have headed elsewhere and put his English adventure behind him. Speaks volumes about his character and I really hope Mourinho gets the best out of him

Incredible to think that Chelsea fans would have been celebrating like lunatics if we signed him last summer but now are actively revolting against the transfer. Understandably so of course but still things change so fast in football

Last time I checked it wasn't 2012. Why is Falcao still relevant? Why is Remy being ****** over?
