Perhaps it has something to do with the way he acted like a complete **** in pushing for a move? Even players like Terry have been jeered at random grounds and games because fans simply don't like their character

100s of players act like ***** to push for a move and not all of them are booed.

Terry is jeered at random grounds in England, not in USA or Australia that too when some Italian team is playing.

Sterling quite obviously took it to the next level which explains the media and societal outrage in general against him in particular as compared to someone like Di Maria who has done the same but in a more quiet and discreet manner

And it's none of Madrid and Roma fans business. There are players who have done lot worse than Sterling to force a move.

I hope for his sake he has a thick skin because he's gonna' get dogs abuse all over the Country this season.

He'd started getting it the back end of last year and it will doubtless only multiply now.

Why not? Sterling is a public figure and chose to air his dirty laundry in the public domain through his agent by extension. Those fans have bought a ticket to see him play and have been subjected to his shenanigans for the past few weeks. Therefore, if they want to express displeasure by booing him (completely legal obviously) then they should be allowed to do so

They can do whatever they want to, it's just weird booing player who isn't from rival's club, has no history with your club. You can talk all about his transfer move, like I said he was not the first and won't be the last one to use that trick.

I don't know why Roma fans would care about what Sterling did to get his transfer move and worst of all Madrid fans.

Quite envious of Chelsea and Arsenal fans getting ready for the opener next Sunday so help me.

Always used to be the aim at the start of every season. To be in the following season's Charity Shield opener.

Not a bad aim to set your season to at all.

Agreed, but they don't get the sort of abuse from the press that he did. He had a massively disproportionate mauling from the mainstream papers, Sky etc so I imagine he's getting that reaction in different countries because they've turned him into the avatar of all that is evil with modern, corporate football.

Plus with the PL being so big in Australia, there'd of been a fair few fans outside the teams actually playing just to see live what they only see on the TV screens.

Meh there are 1000s of players who got randomly jeered because fans simply did not like them as people. Sterling is not the first and definitely will not be the last

Definitely mate. Here in Singapore, you had all sorts of random fans going for the Arsenal game just to see EPL footie

Agreed.. Media is full of ex Liverpool players and that's one of the big reason why he got so much abuse from media.

I think Gallas' way of forcing a transfer ( threatening the club to score an own-goal every time he played), is worse than Sterlings. Like sunilvk7 said, media is full of Liverpool fans/ex players, so Sterling was treated like a modern day Judas.

Exactly. Lallana did more or less same thing to force his transfer to Liverpool and not a word is said about it. He missed training and went on mini strike but media won't make a big story out of it.

Interesting that when Terry was asked about the new crop of leaders in the dressing room, he mentioned Fabregas, Courtois and Cahill specifically. I can certainly see Fabregas becoming captain one day if he stays long enough

Half of North London would go on suicide watch >:-)

Based on what Mourinho has been saying, I doubt we will see any major investment this summer for whatever reason aside from possibly John Stones. Pathetic

Yeah, I'll be very surprised if you rest on your laurels and don't strengthen outside of Stones. The BPL is one thing (I personally don't see anything other than Chelsea retaining that with ease when it's all said and done); but I can't see you being much of a threat in Europe as you currently stand which surely he wants more than anything? Sacks of arrogance from Jose there if he truly believes what you have is as good as anything else out there.

And Singapore huh? If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up all the way out in South East Asia? (Not that I'm jealous or anything like ..... ).

I doubt Mourinho thinks we can do well in Europe especially after our performance last season. No I am not expecting any team in England to do well in Europe as per recent form

Haha my family moved out here from England a few years ago. It's a superb place to live. One of the mods on here cmh is also from singapore

Sweet. Again, I'm not envious at all. Honest .....

The only place in that part of the World I've been fortunate enough to visit thus far is Cambodia on a volunteering thing. Which is one of the most stunning places I've ever had the privilege of visiting. Fantastic culture. Great people. And great, ridiculously cheap food and drink.
