So this is currently flying around on reddit. ONE World Sports :: Chelsea doc demoted for more than mishap

Mourinho is said to have held reservations about Carneiro's role within the first-team squad since at least last year. While there is no question about her professional abilities, the Portuguese coach was concerned that the dressing room dynamic was affected by the presence of a female.

What the **** difference does it make if there's a woman on the staff? I mean, female kitman I could understand, but a Doctor? She probably did prostate exams in medial school for christ sake, I doubt she'd even bat an eye if someone accidently flashed his ****.

Its gotta be bogus story. I'd better be bogus story, because if its not, you're looking at PR clusterfuck of a decade. That's blatant sexism if true, you're looking at sponsors jumping the ship if club handles this badly.

If this is true then is jose stupid or is he stupid.

Sounds completely bogus. Eva is very popular with the players who all respect her

I would definitely not complain if she came arsenal. If anyone could get rid of the plague there, its her.

Thats ridiculous. What makes you think she is solely responsible for our excellent medical record? The medical staff is huge and she isn't even the boss

Eva Carneiro’s Facebook post played big part in fall-out with José Mourinho | Football | The Guardian

Sheds more light on the matter. From her POV, the Facebook post probably wasn't the wisest decision either

Depends how you view it.

She has her pride intact in knowing she did the right thing by thanking well wishers whilst dignifyingly still to this point saying nothing publicly about what's happened.

Or she's been foolishly detrimental to herself and career by (blandly) saying something that would further upset the petulant megalomaniac that is your first team manager.

I'd favour the former and would commend her for how she's handled this with dignity when many (the other protagonist here for a glaring example), would of hit out and assassinated him through the press. The only thing different I'd be doing is walking and looking at legal/ tribunal action and where I fully stood.

Another interesting tidbit ... Dr Eva Carneiro was recommended to work at Chelsea by none other than Marina Granvoskaia who is essentially Mourinho's boss. So I'll be very surprised if the decision to demote her is simply a unilateral one taken by Moutinho without any consultation with the hierarchy considering how Dr Eva got her job and how she is one of the most recognizable figures at Chelsea

Of-course its not just her but even if we did get her, it would be a step up from what we already have.

Depends really. No one knows the internal dynamics of the medical team and who makes the decisions. Even if she goes to Arsenal, she might be forced to work under someone else who makes all the important decisions so their won't be any change in the injury situation

She'll get a new job within a week just purely by how much brand improvement it is to have a female doctor on staff (one that's actually great at their job of course)

Not sure if I am missing something, but I don't see how this is sexist. A little more information has come out, but even still, I'm not drawn to think that this is episode is predicated on gender discrimination.

What a lot of articles fail to mention, consciously or otherwise, is that both medical staff members' duties have been scaled back. Not just Eva. Jon Fearn too. Although the Facebook post was perhaps benign, it drew a lot of unnecessary attention. This isn't shifting blame onto her, it's what happened.

Of course stories will harp on about Carneiro to which may eventually contribute largely to her position at the club. But sexism seems a bit far-fetched.

I am not saying it is or is not sexist because tbh I have not really kept up with the whole story but from what I have seen on the sky sports app whilst at work is that Jose said she should have a better understanding of the game(paraphrasing), I can see why some people would draw the link between that staement and sexism. Not saying its right or wrong but printing a story about a sexist manager will sell more/get more clicks than a story banning medical staff from the bench

The sexist angle only comes form that one source that I've posted earlier. Now it may clickbait bullshit (although people on reddit claim the author is reputable with Chelsea news), but supposedly Mourinho thinks a female doctor on the staff is disrupting backroom dynamics. And that's textbook sexism if true.

After more info has come out, i am leaning more to mourinho side. All he said was that she should have better understanding of the game, that his issue was not just the swansea game (Hazard has to take the blame for that one) but last season aswell. The media love this story but they have failed to mention that John fearn has also been banned aswell. Lets be honest all the white knights defending her wouldnt give two ***** if she looked like susan boyle.

I don't know man, backroom drama is always a big story no matter what genders are involved. Obviously 99% of population wouldn't even know the doctors name if it wasnt' a hot chick, but people would still stand by staff member who got in trouble for doing his job. Pep got absolutely butchered by he media for his row with Bayern doc who's 70 year old dude.

The second point is bullshit made up the media, jose's problem is that she has show naivety on more then one occassion and his problem is not just with her, its with the whole matchday medical team. The media love a story so they have spun it because A) shes a female and B) She's hot

I don't think it's sexism either.

And LOL^^^, who gives a **** how she looks.

This is about Jose not minding his own business and blaming a doctor when he shouldn't have, not about Jose blaming a hot chick.

If its made-up then author of this piece should be ******* hanged by his balls. Making up sexist allegations does nothing but hurt female employees, because people will be worried of hiring them for high profile positions.

It's disgusting how the media is spinning this as 'Mourinho vs Carnerio' and implicitly making it a sexist issue when it quite clearly isn't. Now clubs might think twice before putting females in high profile positions in football because heaven forbid, you demote them for non-gender reasons, the media will still hound you for being a misogynist. John Fearn was demoted as well. Why isn't there a single word about him?

The worrying part is that the author is good with Chelsea news and is reported to be a confidante of Mourinho. Hopefully it's just a poorly phrased article and not an accurate reflection of the mood within the club
