fair. right now I'de currently rate Jenas over Henderson.

anyways, such a shame to see all the doom and gloom about everton.

Who wouldn't want to take them over? Great fans, good history, amazing manager. Baffling.

Whoever takes over needs to be ready to invest at least 400m into the club

Worst thing is, hypothetically if we went down, things would be absolutely dire, as any parachute payment would instantly disappear. It would absolutely disastrous. The financial side would be unsustainable

such a sad sad tail of events. hope you guys get some investment and really go back to being a part of the force you once were! (could say that about us tbh ;))

All we can do is wait. And wait. etc etc.

But with each passing day it's looking more likely we'll lose Fellaini in January. No contract talks or anything. And as usual, money will disappear sharpish. But also put more pressure on the rest of the players too. Was in a good mood earlier. Now I sense a FM game with a major cash injection coming up lol

Yep, Everton need a new stadium to survive

How exactly? They need their debt paid off to survive. A new stadium isn't going to provide them with the money they need to be sustainable on it's own, they need to improve themselves commercially too, as at the moment they are clearly failing to sell themselves to sponsors and the like.

In the long term, for the same reason Liverpool are trying to upgrade Anfield/find a new stadium. Stadia provide a lot of commercial revenue, and match day revenue, things like corporate boxes etc. A new modern 50-60,000 seated stadium wuld dramaticaly increase income.
They need a new stadium along wth everything else or they will stay standing will everyone moves forward

They don't have the support to fill a 50k - 60k stadium Mike. They commissioned a report from Deloitte prior to the Kikby inquiry to try and support the board's figures based on 47k average attendances. Deloitte politely told them to lay down the crack pipe and thank their lucky stars if Kirkby had 38k average attendance. They're averaging 36k at Goodison currently, and could average 38k comfortably there if they sold more tickets.

The really worrying thing about the Kirkby inquiry though was that the Everton board reckoned that the income generated by moving to Kirkby would only be £6m more than what is currently generated by them now. That includes £4.5m for selling naming rights too. That's not the solution for a club which is needing to generate £20m+ every season from player sales and debt to stay afloat even assuming that the board rather than Deloitte would be correct on attendance levels.

They really need to increase ticket prices to generate income but what impact would it have on attendances if they were raised by 33%? Likewise, can they stay in the premier league if they cut wages by a third at the same time to try and pay down some debt to enable them to borrow at a healthy rate of interest again to perhaps refurbish Goodison?

New owner who'll pour cash in for not even the pleasure of seeing his team in Europe or risking tumbling down the divisions whilst at same time really making their fans feel aggrieved are really the only two shows in town for them. The former seems unlikely, and the latter is what Kenwright has desperately been racking up debt to avoid since taking over so seems unlikely he'd sanction it.

Not sure there is really a solution as such for them to be found. Everything looks like a gamble for them now because of a good two decades of mismanagement by a series of Everton boards.

Think increasing ticket prices could be a bad idea. Attendances are already down by 6% or something, and doing that will add more weight to the BU campaign.

Agree with you for sure but there are very few options for Everton. The club will go bust if they continue down this path and something has to give. Whichever way that revenue shortfall is found, the current board are going to catch flak. It'll be a slow process of forced sales at lower than market values if it goes on and with Everton having very little control over who does go and when. If new owners come in, absent them being billionaires who don't really want CL football etc etc, then they'll be in pretty much the same situation. The cost of servicing the debt isn't really the problem - it's that revenues and expenditure are so out of kilter.

Everton are reportedly set to extend manager David Moyes’ contract in the new year, as the Scottish coach looks to increase his time on Merseyside further. Moyes will have been in charge at Goodison Park for ten years come March, and despite his current deal not expiring until 2013, the Toffees’ owners are keen to have their main man at the club for the foreseeable future, The Indepent reports. The Scot is currently the highest earner at the club, taking home £65,000 per week, and a similar figure is expected to be offered to keep Moyes from moving on.
Despite Everton’s obvious and well-documented financial problems, Moyes has made no suggestion of any desire to leave Goodison, and the Scot has built a close-knit squad over the last number of years.
The news comes following Everton’s 2-1 extra time time win over West Brom on Wednesday night, in which captain Phil Neville scored a 103rd minute winner. Everton now take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, as they look to build on their midweek win.

Please stay Moyes. The fans  you and you're the reason we've survived in the Prem.

And two side-notes:

1) Tim Howard wins Everton player of the month following his performance against Blackburn Rovers (deserved)
2) Jose Baxter to join Tranmere Rovers on a one month loan deal.

Very happy with the news. Moyes is our biggest asset, and if he signs a new deal he will be showing his commitment to the club, which will hopefully rub onto the players.

Also happy with Baxter leaving to get some games. Our striking options seem good for the time being and it will be good for him to get some competitive matches under his belt, and hopefully come back a better player.

But Mucha is a more than capable backup to Howard. sigh. I divn't kna....

No offence AJT but they would be nuts to pay 30M for him if true?

Expect £20 million to be more realistic, which would be a fair price for the next Steven Gerrard.
But I wouldn't expect 30 million tbh. But AVB is expected to offer £20 million. I don't class the mail as reliable tbh
