Howard Webb is anti-Liverpool.
End of.

on a brighter note, we still look a million miles better than we have in any other game this season...

Good point made there by Southgate who i believe is a decent pundict, with the penalty Gerrard moaned and went over to the 4th official complaining etc. But with the red card decision he didn't complain, like i said it was a stupid challenge for a game of this magnatude and Stevie himself with know that.

On first viewing I thought Gerrard got the ball. Clearly didn't get all of it, so maybe the red is granted. I think it's more my bias as I want to see a good specticle and the fact it's a big derby, high stakes that makes me wish Webb gave a yellow.

Looking again, Stevie probably did deserve a red but to say Rafael's was fine is stupid. He could quite easily have gone as well.

And penno - NEVER.

I'm not making excuse. I accept that Gerrards was a red card, I'm not even mentioning that.

The fact he wins the ball is irrelevant, it's still dangerous play.

The excuses bit wasn't directed at you. Everyone saying the ref is favouring Utd etc..

Rafael's wasn't dangerous if you ask me. Meireles didn't complain about it at all and there was no contact between the players. Rafael won the ball perfectly, so shouldn't be a red card.

Gerrard knew it was a red straight away.

Although that penalty should not have been given, dive dive dive.

Having said that those on here who are quick to condemn, should remember their own players. People in glass houses...

That was going to be my next comment lol. Gerrard loves a dive.

I think Dalglish has gone to all the Liverpool fans head.

Granted they are playing alot better so far. But I think if they played to the same standard and were still under hodgson, everyone would be calling for his head not saying were looking alot better today.

Although contact was minimal, I think he clipped the back of his boot and put him off balance - Penalty.
Definitely a red card. Two-footed wild lunge, could of broke a leg - Red Card.

If the rules would include actual punishment for dives the game would be in a better place.

an occasional booking here and there isn't good enough.

Ah, wouldn't be a United-Liverpool game without a gigantic dollop of controversy.

Sorry, Rafael jumped about 2cm and got the ball, and there was no contact.
Merirles backed out mid challenge as he knew he wouldn't get the ball.

roy keane on inge haaland was a red. de jong on alonso was a red (but it wasnt), gerrard on carrick, having seen it a few times, is still a yellow. i.m.o.

Southgate used to be a decent pundit. He seems to of gotten a lot more tv friendly these days. Reeling off clichés and soundbytes these days instead of giving real analysis.

All the United fans on here, bar a few are admitting Berbatov dived.

Was definitely not a penalty, but the red card was definite IMO. Been a fairly even game, but I think we slightly deserve the lead as we've controlled posession more.

Yes, Meireles had to back out because Rafael jumped in two footed and he would have had his ankle snapped otherwise.

All fair saying Gerrards was a red because it clearly was but on Rafeals challenge if Meirles hadn't pulled out of the challege and gone in like carrick and got hurt, would it of been a red?

Your spot on. Its nice to see some honesty.

Look at Giggs.

He's 36 and he's outpaced and skilling up the full backs.
