Since your go to theory is if someone doesnt watch the league reguarly, they don't have reasoning.

So, in my opinon it is the Irish league, come back to me when you watch it reguarly.

Ligue 1 fo reals though.

Within reason.

EPL
Serie A
La Liga
Bundesliga
Ligue 1
Eredivisie
Russian League

every's saying in there opinion which is better eredsive or ligue 1 you have to compare things like
quality of player
finance
competivness
how they do in europe
and my list go on, so it some prespective ligue 1 could be better but in other people OP's the eredsivie league could be better ect, ect

Interesting that you think Serie A > La Liga. Any particular reason?

I personally believe the la liga is very 2 sided in terms of winning it.

In the serie a i honestly believe that AC Milan, Roma, Inter, Juventus (reaching), Sampdoria ( reaching) can win it.

Also id like to show the previous winners of this league in the past 10 seasons.

Inter 5 or 6 (depends if you count mancini's default title)
Roma- 1
Juventus- 2
AC Milan - 1

Now for the la liga winners
Madrid- 4
Barcelona- 4
Valencia- 2

So based on that i believe the italian league is better

and especially now in the la liga, i believe that barcelona and real madrids players are so much better than other clubs players, only atletico are even close in my opinion

yes i don't want to stop the debate, i just think a poll would give everybody an idea what the majority think - i think i'm the only one who said brazil...

Not the only one...LOL I also think Brazilian league is one of hardest around. Just, the amount of travelling they have (bear in mind the country´s size + plus they play twice a week on a regular basis). And personally, atm, Argentina unpredictable outcome of the league is a nutcracker and goldmine for the betting sites.

Well, it depends on what facts do you actually measure the leagues. The only reason why the Serie A is so challenging now, its because the teams performances are very inconsistent. Maybe be also, because the teams are very good throughout the division. But taking into account the players, La Liga has certainly the best ones or at least the best at their peak. Now, we all know how is football and this can change from season to season. I am not particulary fond of the Premier League in general, but I most admit it is the most attractive one to watch. Considering I am not living there, I manage to watch 4+ games a weekend when I can. Its a shame I cant get to watch the cups here, but well. Something is something.

Having said this, Trivaldo´s idea of a poll is not that bad. Actually, he is right when he says it would give us a global view of what the majority thinks.

Raikan dont be like that, Im sure Manchester United is more ***** than AC Milan, and Italian football is not boring .. I agree with the part about Mourinho, but the rest you are talking nonsense
hahah, the Italian league is overrated is all im saying...
the German and French leagues are going to take over in the next year or two, just becuase you  Ac Milan and Napoli does not mean that they deserve to be number 1 or 2 ;)

it is a dying league, look at clubs like Roma, they are useless, Lazio is the only team doing really well this year (and Inter of course)

I seriously doubt if i would consider italian league as one of the four top leagues, nowadays.

Anyway, and taking theses as the four best, i would put french as fifth.

Definitely either the French or Dutch leagues. Great football, great European contenders and good youth spewing out of their arses.

Either those two or the Sanmarinese league.

I think it has to be the Eredivisie, Admittedly I watch more Eredivisie games than most.

Ajax, PSV, Twente maybe AZ would be mid table/lower mid table teams in most bigger leagues. I'd like to add Feyenoord but they've been hamstrung recently by financial issues and are pretty much struggling but historically they've been ver very good across all competitions. It's a little bit smaller league so the talent is better concentrated IMO.

I guess really I think it's a two horse race between France and the Netherlands and they're pretty much even. I just think the gap between the have and the have not's in the Eredivisie is a lot smaller than the what it is in Ligue 1. And you don't have as much dilution of talent. i think the games generally are more balanced. Traditionally it has been a 2-3 horse race for the flag but recently more and more teams like Twente, and even Utrecht are on the up.

You took the words right out of my mouth winfield.

However, Eastern European leagues are slowly growing in strength I feel - I'm mainly referring to Russia and Turkey.

In 5-10 years It could be Russia's league up there in the top 5.

Deep eredivise vs ligue 1 analysis

Just read that link on the first page. Scottish football is worse than Romanian? We are at a new low.

My opinion is that the 5th best league is easily the Eredivise.

Steaua - Motherwell 3-0
Motherwell - Steaua 1-3
Glasgow Rangers - Unirea Urziceni 1-4
Unirea Urziceni - Glasgow Rangers 1-1

These results happened last year if i remember so it means yes.

And if you guys judge a league by the competitive side of it, looking at the past winners of the respective league, then Romanian Liga I can easily stick as the 5th competitive league. The proof is the past 5 seasons won by 4 different teams (2006: Steaua Bucharest, 2007: Dinamo Bucharest, 2008: CFR Cluj << First Title in history>>, 2009 Unirea Urziceni << First Title>>, 2010: CFR Cluj) and the current leader of the league is another small team Otelul Galati
But Romanian League is no where near that position to be ranked 5th.

And now to add my 2 cents on Eredivise VS Ligue 1 debate: (WALL OF TEXT INCOMING)
My opinion, the 5th best league is Ligue 1.

Arguments and proofs

Investments

Ligue 1 invests more on players, can afford bigger salaries and attracts better players than Eredivise. According to the german site transfermarkt.de specialized in calculating player values, the french Ligue 1 spent a total of 139.940.000 € on players compared to the 40.150.000 €, the Dutch Eredivise spent. (on the summer transfer). Also in terms of selling players, Ligue 1 "crushes" Eredivise with 183.660.000 € (Ligue 1) to 45.475.000 € (Eredivise).
Notice how both leagues managed to make a profit.

Club Squad Value's

Obviously the team that invests more has a better squad value than a team that does invest less.

TOP 3 Squad value for each league

Ligue 1: Olympique Lyon (206.500.000 €), Olympique Marseille (158.350.000 €), FC Girondins Bordeaux (113.500.000 €)

Eredivise: Ajax Amsterdam (116.550.000 €), PSV Eindhoven (87.800.000 €), AZ Alkmaar (59.475.000 €)
Notice the difference

Also i could add the most expensive 2 players from each league: Eredivise: Luis Suarez (Ajax) 25.000.000 € and Bryan Ruiz (FC Twente) 12.500.000 € compared to Ligue 1's: Lisandro Lopez (Lyon) 23.000.000 € and Yoann Gourcuff (Lyon) 22.500.000 €
Notice the big difference of cash value between the Eredivise players and the "modest" 500k difference between Ligue 1's

Enough with the numbers. Let's show the competitive side of each league:

In terms of competition, both leagues are equal with 3 different teams winning the past 5 seasons. (Lyon 3 times, Bordeaux 1 time, Marseille 1 time) and (PSV 3 times, AZ 1 time and Twente 1 time).

Ligue 1 fields more teams than Eredivise in Uefa Champions league. Last 3 years if i remember the french ligue got 2 teams each season while Eredivise 1 each season (2 teams the current season). Lyon managed to get 2 times in the Quarter's and one time in the Semi, while no Dutch team even passed the Group Stage.

Coefficients
Right now Ligue 1 is on the 5th place on UEFA League's Coefficients with a coefficient of 48.344 and Eredivise is on the 9th place with a coefficient of 34.629. This means that Ligue 1 has 3 spots for Uefa Champions league and 3 for Europa League (6 total) while Eredivise has 2 and 3 (5 total)

Verdict: Ligue 1 is the 5th best league in the World.

For me its
1. PremierLeague
2. La Liga
3. Serie A
4. Bundesliga
5. Ligue 1
6: Eredivisie
7: Liga Sagres
8: Russian League
9: Brazilian League
10: SPL

You've just used wikipedia and goal.com to try and say we're wrong. :/

The fact they've put Brazil > Italy is bordering on ridiculous.

It's all relative and depends of your perspective regarding your favourite football model, football education and system.
Personally, having travelled to watch football in most top football nations, my top 2 leagues are Brazil and Spain.
