AUSTRALIA AND ENGLAND DRAW FOR FIRST TIME

The first match of the 2nd Test of the Ashes has ended in a draw, with Australia scoring 2 late goals to equalise despite a thrilling Ronaldo brace in the first 10 minutes. Vincent Kompany's red card in the 20th minute jeopardised his team's chances immensely but they held on against the odds to record a draw.

Written by Feliks of Australia

A Steam crowd of 5 watched as my plans were thrown out the window early on as Cristiano Ronaldo tore the defence to shreds. Goals in the 2nd and 8th minute put us in a dangerous situation as Cesar Azpilicueta looked unable to deal with England's star.

However, the match turned on it's head in the 20th minute when Vincent Kompany was sent off in the 20th minute for a late challenge on Lionel Messi. Was it deserved? The Aussie in me is screaming YES YES THE POMMY ******* DESERVED TO GET SENT OFF but the football fan in me says, no, it probably wasn't. Nonetheless, it had a big impact on the game as Lewie opted to play just one at the back up until half time.

Somehow, we were not able to get a goal by half time as David De Gea morphed into a brick wall and Lionel Messi morphed into Fernando Torres. Zlatan limping off injured didn't help me at all and much to Lewie's credit, England remained 2-0 up at half time.

By the 65th minute, I was screaming at the computer screen with rage. Yes, Lewie had outpointed me tactically - no doubt about that. But Lionel Messi and Neymar and David Silva couldn't hit a barn door and England somehow remained 2-0 up. They weren't finishing their chances off either - and it was time for all or nothing.

We threw caution to the wind as I moved into an ultra attacking 4-2-2-2, set on Overload, and decided if I wasn't going to score I may as well get beaten really badly trying. Lewie, meanwhile, put England on Contain, and it was going to be a battle of the minds between our players as to who could hold on. Ironically, my breakthrough finally came through a centre back after my forwards doing so badly all night. Mats Hummels scored from a corner in the 77th minute and the Aussies in the stands erupted with joy. The comeback was finally f**king on.

In what was a nervous final 10 minutes, we traded many chances as we both pushed for that crucial goal. Neymar, Hazard, Aguero all came close to scoring but in the end, one of the smallest players on the field scored the equaliser from a corner - Lionel Messi. The Argentinian wizard got the equaliser after 86 minutes of pain, of torture and I breathed a sigh of relief. And subsequently nearly had a heart attack when Aguero almost scored in the 92nd minute for England. Phew.

Fantastic match both of you!

Opens up the possibiltiy of a draw in this test...

Great stuff. Been tough to read after the first test, but Eng will take this one.

AUSTRALIA TAKE THE 1-0 LEAD

Short write-up due to fatigue. Pogba burst into the box in the 19th minute to put Australia into the lead. But only a minute later, Suarez did the same, bringing England back into the tie at 1-1. But a measly minute later, Robben broke through and took the lead for Australia again. In 3 minutes 3 goals had been scored, 2 for Australia and 1 for England.

Many easy chances were squandered as the minutes ticked over, with England desperate to get back on level pegging. England had dangerous chance after dangerous chance until finally Muller finished in the 75th minute. With the score at 2-2, expert tactical extraordinaire Kaarto brought on Ibrahimovic and switched to the mysterious formation. Just two minutes later Ibra laid off a perfect assist to Lionel Messi, who finished easily. Australia are up 3-2. Then godfish, IN A FIT OF RAGE SMASHED HIS PC AND QUIT THE GAME LEAVING IT FROZEN FOREVER. Or we just experienced some technical difficulties. I'll never know.

The game froze, we started another that would only go for 20 minutes, the time remaining in the other fixture. And we made a killing on ticket sales, getting the whole crowd to come back another day for 20 minutes, good business. Australia held out for a bore draw, with Neuer saving CCC after CCC like the god that he is. We'll never know what could of happened if the first game didn't glitch out. Australia ended up with the 3-2 win, putting Australia 1-0 in the 2nd test. Thanks for the game Godfish93, it was close.

Full review of the Yetti-Matt game coming as soon as I have the chance (within a couple of hours)

Pity the Kaarto/Godfish match froze, was a good match up to that point. Had to head to bed before the replay was started :S

The Lewie/Feliks game was unreal! End to end action, very exciting to watch. Lewie did a remarkable job with 10 men for so long!

Keen to get the Matt/Yeti result. Seems like a real arm wrestle this test...

Looks like my match with Feliks was the Match of the Series so far! :P

Shall let you all know when mine and Patrick's game is organised, i've messaged him on here and on Steam, just waiting for him to get back to me :)

Ill have to post the thingy for my game with Yeti tomorrow. Sorry I didn't do it today, ended up going out with friends :)

England Win First Ashes Game
Yesterday, England managed to pick up their first win of the second test of the Ashes, as well as it being their first win of the series (barring the forfeit win in the first test). After England picking up a draw earlier in the day, as well as losing a game, any chance of winning the 2nd test came down to the game between Matt419 and Yeti01, Matt having to pick up a win to give England any hope of winning the second test.

It it didn't take long for things to turn bad for England, Eden Hazard playing in Ibrahimovic, who slid the ball past David De Gea, putting Australia 1-0 up. What happened for the rest of the game however, was an amazing performance at the back from Vincent Kompany and Sergio Ramos, as well as some fantastic saves from De Gea. Both teams threatened on occasion in the first half, but there were no more good chances for either team, and the first half ended 1-0 to Australia.

The teams came out mostly unchained for the second half, the only difference being Marco Reus replacing Thomas Muller on the right wing for England. Australia were in control in the first ten minutes of the second half, creating a couple of chances and forcing De Gea into a fantastic save. Then on the 55th minute, Jerome Boateng brought down Marco Reus on the edge of the box. Suarez stepped up to take the free kick, forcing Neur into an excellent save. Unfortunately, the German keeper could only parry the ball away to Sergio Ramos. The defender controlled the ball, and fired it into an empty net. 1-1.

The next 35 minutes were very even. Both teams having almost equal possession, with Australia perhaps having the better chances. As the board went up to indicate 2 minutes of injury time, David De Gea launched a free kick up the pitch. Marco Reus managed to latch onto the ball, playing a wonderful pass to Robert Lewandowski (a 57th minutes substitute for Luis Suarez). Lewandowski tried to chip the ball over Neur, who made an excellent save, deflecting the ball clear. But once again, Neur could only parry the ball to a Sergio, this time Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian passed the ball into the back of an empty net, making it 2-1 England and sealing the win.

Player of the match was Vincent Kompany, both him and Sergio Ramos playing excellent at centre back, and their fantastic performances was, on my opinion, the only way that England managed to get the win.

Now England have got a win on the board, hopefully this can inspire the team onto more wins, a victory in the 2nd test of the Ashes and, hopefully, a victory in the whole series.

1 all (or 4 all) with two games to go, this is more like an Ashes! Come on Patty boy, give us the lead!

Very very tense, come on Aussies! Let's win this Test and really put the pressure on!

England's fightback continues..

The highly anticipated fixture between Disclaimer89 and Lippo finally kicked off today, 8pm UK time (5.30 am Aussie time). Both managers had been talking about this match for ages and once the coffee was had, it was go time!

The match started off with Australia in full control and it didn't take long, 2 minutes in fact, for them to take the lead thanks to a marvellous run by Neymar before tucking the ball into the bottom corner beyond De Gea.

The match continued to flow in Australia's favour with the runs of Messi and Neymar scaring the sh*t out of the England defenders. England tried to stay composed and focus on hitting Australia on the counter attack.

Australia put in some world class defending which shut out each and every counter attack England threw at them with Baines standing out as the main thorn in Disclaimer89's side.

Finally though in the 31st minute, a stroke of luck and individual skill saw Rodriguez rifle a shot beyond Neuer. England were back in the game! 1-1

Lippo made a few tweaks which saw them push on for another goal and within 9 minutes later England had put 2 past Australia with goals from Iniesta and Suarez. 3-1

The second half start brightly again for Australia as a tug in the box by Ramos allowed for a MOTM Baines to convert a well taken penalty. 3-2 Austalia were back in this!

Not for long as Rodriguez managed to slip inside, wriggling around a few defenders and somehow got the ball in the net.

At 4-2 both managers made tactical changes with Lippo looking for an ''all or nothing'' and Disclaimer89 desperately trying to hold on for his first win of the Ashes. Australia went all out with a few changes with Matthew Ryan being reinstated as the number one goalkeeper.

In the 60th minute Rodriguez, who scored a brace, had to go off injured meaning Disclaimer89 had to bring on the useless tw*t that is Muller for the last half hour.

The matched fizzled out for England as they were forced to defend a barrage of fluent attacking phases as Australia searched for a way back into the game!

On the 88th minute Iniesta managed a shot from outside the box to bring the match beyond Australia's grasp.

Final Whistle
England 5
Australia 2

I would like to say thanks to Lippo for the great game and laughs on steam throughout the match!
Cheers.
