So much for the Independent pieces headline today about Balo getting no happy Birthday returns.

This really narks the living **** out of me with the press.

Criticise him all you like for his on field displays. But he's not been ANY trouble off it and he's loved by his teammates. ****, even Rodgers hasn't turned on him and he has on quite a few other players. The media continuing to invent things and reaching for a correlation between Mario at other clubs and Mario at Anfield that just isn't there is beyond wearisome.

interesting stuff from Tony Barrett on the whole transfer committee/Rodgers battle for signings - It would also explain the confidence FSG still had in Rodgers as they knew he was not in full control in previous seasons..

This summer Liverpool's Transfer Committee has worked more slickly and more quickly than at any time in the past.

Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, James Milner, Adam Lallana and Christian Benteke were Rodgers signings and Rodgers alone.

While the transfer committee landed Mamadou Sakho, Lazar Markovic, Alberto Moreno and Divock Origi.

This probably explains why the first five started at Stoke on Sunday – and the other quartet didn't.

Yup. It's been a complete cluster**** behind the scenes as regards out transfer policy and who's actually signed who.

if we sell sakho and keep lovren i will kick brendan rodgers in his mangina

Not entirely Liverpool related, but find were in there somewhere, had a £10 free bet before so did an acca with Bet365, I've firstly got us to beat Bournemouth.

Leverkusen win
Dortmund win
Southampton to beat Everton (home)
Swansea to beat Newcastle (home)
United to win tonight (just because if they do it means it's not all bad)
Barca to win tonight
and Aberdeen to win.

Would be an 800 return, I find that crazy odds for the games!

very good bet the dortmund game is tricky but should win.....the thing is with doing that many teams there is a greater chance of one of them ******* up

Yeah it only takes one! But seeing as it's a free bet I thought I would go big!

Related- Gutted that in all probability Bilbao will be in pot 2 along with ourselves for the draw if they qualify. :(.

That again would be the best trip in the whole of Europe this year.

I hope you mean best in terms of tourist value, because Bilbao would tear you apart.

I view all European draws from what gives us the best trip. If I'm away for at least 3 day's, I want a boss place to visit. And Bilbao and the Basque Country is just that. Some of the best tapas and wine in Spain in a gorgeous City. And that new ground looks awesomely fantastic.

The football is a frustrating irritation oft times. XD.

That said, if Rodgers treats this seriously, and he has the depth to do that; a deep run is there for the taking the Europa.

With the resent reports about the transfer committee and its work, you have to feel a little bit sorry for Rodgers.

Yes and no. I totally sympathise that it must be frustrating to have players bought for him who he may feel don't suit his style, and it is reasonable to favour those he feels are more suitable - to a certain extent.

On the other hand, where there is a vast disparity in the abilities two players for the same role, like Sakho (reportedly a committee signing) and Lovren (Rodgers signing), it is childish to select his own signing ahead of the committee signing when Sakho is clearly the superior player. Doesn't do anyone any good. Not saying Lovren didn't play well against Stoke, he did, but Sakho has proven that he's our best centre back.

Managed to get a ticket to tomorrows game before I go travelling around Thailand for a couple of months. Can't wait for it to be 0-0 all game with no action and one striker up top, like for like substitutes and then conceding from a corner in about the 73rd minute before conceding another goal in the 85th minute.

It's a 0-2 Bournemouth from me jeff.

It's a good chance for us to continue to build confidence with a win tomorrow night.. With only two teams currently winning both games it's important for us to take advantage of others' dropped points, even so early in the season

Especially with our away run coming

Need 5 wins out of 7 minimum going into October.

After Stoke, the next 4 home games should all be 3 points. Need to turn Anfield into a fortress again. And anything can happen in the games against Arsenal and United.

If Arsenal don't win today, the carrot to go 3 games clear of them next Monday would be beyond massive.

Exactly.

Even this early in the season, if you can build confidence whilst obviously still not being at your best it can be a good advantage to have for the rest of the season

The good thing about these away fixtures are that when it comes to the business end of the season every single one of our 'bigger' games are at home

Cheers mate. We've all got our techniques/plans ready for that grey area.

Expecting something like this tomorrow:

Mignolet
Clyne - Skrtel - Lovren - Gomez
Can
Hendo - Milner
Firmino - Benteke - Coutinho

There is a lack of width but that could be made up with the added creativity of Firmino and Coutinho. The likes of Ibe, Lallana, Ings and Origi to come on if needed also
