why the hate for derby? plus how in the **** do you get all the time off from work to go to finals

Goes back to the late ‘60’s/ early ‘70’s and Derby becoming a serious threat. Al intensified by that P up gob_____ Clough. Shouldn’t speak ill of the dead but I sincerely hope he’s burning slowly in ****. I digress .....

Our rivalry with both East Midlands sides, Derby and then Forest, was one of fiercest the ‘70’s/ ‘80’s for all of the above. And got real nasty off the pitch. The Baseball ground used to be a **** of a place to go. Ambush central all the little jiggers outside. Then you’d get everything webbed down on you the terrace from the Derby fans the seats above. It was always ‘lively’ when ever we went Derby or Forest. Scab bastards! (Old habits die hard!).

Whole generations must wonder where the hatred comes from when we’ve not played either consistently for years haha.

Only using 2 days Madrid it being over a weekend. Friday and Monday. Missing Porto and saving holidays there helped with that.

When I was a kid, every time we drew a PL side in the cups or had England in the qualifiers, the cops in Poland were preparing for match day with attack dogs, water cannons and tear gas. They've only stopped doing that in late 90s when it was clear PL finally found way to control the hooligans. So let's not be rewriting history how the ban was all about politics.

Feels utterly mad to say this given the long standing 'dislike' we have with Derby, but all the best to Harry Wilson and everyone at County today.

Show you belong.

Hasn't overly impressed me btw. Seems to have a wand of a foot & not a lot else. Probably be flogged to mid-table for 20-ish M. Either that, or kept around as squad option - be ok to take off the bench in frustrating situations vs. deep blocks, but don't think he's by any means a superstar. Brooks looks the real Welsh talent, Daniel James too ;)

That ***** hated football fans (and her decimation of life leaving young lads with no hope and no outlet was a contributing factor to a lot of football hooliganism. That’s not to condone the **** that went down the ‘70’s/‘80’s. Just the stark reality of inner City life under that shitbag), and had been trying to come down hard for a while. Heysel handed her that. No questioning of why nottin happened to Juve with Angeli on the UEFA committee. No just wanting L’pool punishes. She through everything politically behind a blanket English ban.

So yeah, I love you r big Polish mate, but you don’t appreciate the social situation here at the time and the Governments part in the ban. Thatcher was a major part behind that.

I doubt Wilson has a career at ours mate now. We've moved up levels massively from last summer when he had a chance to stick. His poor outing yesterday aside, no doubt he'll have a decent top flight career. But we're now one of, if not the top side in Europe and you have to be seriously difference making to have a chance of making it even as a squad player at Anfield now. Brewster for example, who's liable to be on the bench Saturday. has that. He's another Fowler/ Owen talent. Honestly. Watch out for that young man next year. But Harry you just can't see even as a depth option.

Provided he hasn't suddenly made the jump they've been looking for this pre-season, if Wolves want to give us £25 million or so that'll do nicely.

FWIW, I wrote on him earlier this season on here so it seems a good time to update that and revisit it .....

The curious case of Harry Wilson ......

A really strange story Wilson. Scoring and assisting goal is literally all he does. Often in spectacular fashion. And no matter if he’s having an off day, he has that uniquely invaluable knack of adding a goal contribution the vast majority of games he plays.

His goals/ assist record the last few years since he returned from a bad injury have been phenominal. By common consensus he’s been by far and away the beat player the Country U23’s level for a few years now. Always been this super talent coming through, but it wasn’t until he started adding the ridiculous numbers his game really elevated. (Still Wales youngest International.). Yet he’s never really had a look in under Klopp, who has an open door to the first team squad from the Academy, and is one of the best around with young lads. So much so that he got bumped full time to first team training Melwood, Then demoted back to Kirkby!

So what gives?

I always thought it was probably gonna’ be his slight size or the only thing he lacks, genuine pace, that would hold him back. The ridiculous technique has never been in question. By far the most talented every age group coming through. But then he goes out to a struggling Hull side last year and tears it up the physical Championship. Every challenge hes met head on and come through with flying colours.

Yet still he was flipped out again this year. To turn around and yet again tear up the Championship his first full season as a professional. To now being widely touted as having a £25 million fee on his head we're seemingly willing to deal at.

It's a really, really curious situation.

On the face of it, as witnessed yet again all season, he’s more than PL ready. So what gives day-to-day? I mean the club are still real high on him. Made sure he extended for another 5 years before they found the perfect loan situation at Derby for his continued development. And they would seemingly be happy flipping him to a PL club on loan next year to continue that. But there’s still this BIG arl ? as to why, when he's showing standout, difference making qualitys every challenge he faces. Is it something he’s not been doing in training? They work with him every day and are privvy to far more than we are. His attitude off the pitch? There’s something that just doesn’t quite add up here.

I personally sincerely hope he comes back pre-season and has made that big leap they require as his talent is immense. But it really makes you wonder if theres ever going to be a long term future here?

Really curious situation this one.

Thanks man. We're going to yet another European Cup Final. In one of the best City's in Europe. To show Real first hand what proper support is all about ..... How could that 'not' be fun? ;)

Conservative estimate is we'll have 60-80K out there for one massive Scouse party. I don't know many people that aren't going. Most without tickets but just wanting to experience everything around another European Cup final. I know the club are working hard, with better organisation this year, to try top the magnificent show they put on in Shevchenko Park last year in Kiev the fan park Madrid with the BOSS Night lads/ TAW et al (Just mad that the Madrid authorities are adamant they'll shut the fan park at 6 with no screens which is fixing to be a major issue for them.). Tottenham won't know what'***** them their big day out. Madrid will be Red and then some.

So hopefully it'll be just that, the Spanish bizzies will be controlled for once, and it won't be as moody as I still fear it could well be.

Out Friday morning into Barcelona dinner-time. 3 hours or so there then a train up to Madrid getting in 7:10 PM. Friday and Saturday in Madrid, then a lazy train down to Malaga late morning Sunday to (hopefully) celebrate #6 in the sun before flying back home Monday tea-time.

As ever in L'pool when there's a final, not least a final for the biggest prize in football, everywhere you go now the streets/ houses are decked out in Red with some belter old flags. The excitements getting palpable after nearly a three week wait.

3 more days to get the final act of this magnificent season underway.

4 more sleeps. Will this week EVER end?!!!!!

Speaking of Malaga, My team leader is going out there on Friday. Not for the football, was a pre-planned holiday for over a year. EasyJet offered him £500 for the ticket (he paid like £80 last year). Hate to think how much they wanted to sell it on for. Profiteering at its finest.

Utterly disgraceful mate. LONG past the need for strict regulations/ legislations to stop this.

It's with a heavy heart that for the 34th straight year on this date I say

Liverpool ricorda. Dio resto.

With the help of Google translator from the Italian: Liverpool remembers. God rest.

It's down to top lads and leaders like Andy Robbo I'd be buzzing if they brought say a Depay into the changies.

We've so many 'captains' in their own right and leaders in that dressing room now with the culture Klopp's worked so hard to implement here that you just wouldn't be worried at all with anyone coming in with any 'perceived' attitude/ maturity/ call it what you will issues. They'd internally fix any issues with the culture and bond they all have going on. (For Example A see the completely false media/ fan narrative of Shaqiri this time last summer.).

Great read ta mate.

Another day and a half. This is torture!

This actually is a really good read. And quite an inspiring journey, too.

And mind, this coming from me, a hardcore United supporter who doesn't like Liverpool even a little bit (some rivalries never end), but that dressing room culture is what it is all about. Retaining that is the absolute top priority, and that's how the club will always move forward. We had exactly that till Fergie left, we had players who could sort any problem and any divas hands down, real leaders. It's never just buying players who are excellent, it's about having players who understand the culture, and ensure others get it too (something which a lot of people don't grasp). The way you are being run now is really good, honestly, and is being set-up so that it can continue long term. That being said, I'm hopeful we will be back up there before long.

Trusting players enough to give them full responsibility too.

Klopp’s a top coach and top tactician who is constantly on top of the smallest details. (Always amuses me when fans/ the mediots class him as just an ‘emotional motivator’ who has his lads madly pressing in all out carnage. Like actually both watch his side and do some proper research into the fella. The same way many said it would all fall apart with no Buvac. And then we go drop the 4th highest points total in English top flight history and reach another European Cup Final. No lads, Buvac was only a small part at that time. He’s always looking for the slightest edge and improving the top team around him but it comes from Klopp who’s one of the top leaders/ coaches/ tacticians/ managers/ insert own term here in World football.

But he has these lad so finally drilled within our system, and the full trust in them out on the field, that he’ll now stand back and let them work things out for themselves during a match. SO many instances this year of the him crediting the players after games with things we’d not worked on in training that they’ve dealt with themselves on the pitch. Takes really intelligent lads that, that just adds to the full package characters we now look at first and foremost above mere talent.

By all accounts, Klopp’s first question when anyone puts a prospective new signing to him is ‘What’s he like as a person?’ Which tells you all you need to know.

taking the **** 3 weeks after the league ends you be safe and have fun

Always. Thank you.

Last day of work for 4 days. FINALLY! Although I must say the waits not been half as bad when I'm just buzzing at streets/ houses all over the City deckeed up like it was Chrimbo. No place like L'pool at the best of times. L'pool when the Reds are in a final, not least for the biggest prize in football, is off the charts brilliant. (But Everton are 'The Peoples Club.' Never forget that! ;).).

Just looking at previous European Cup finals. This is our 9th. All other English clubs COMBINED have been to 13. We win, it'll be our 6th European big one. Twice as much as the next English club on the list.

This football club man. PHENOMENAL!
