We were absolutely atrocious but I dont give a **** we got No.6 and thats all that matters.

Been surprised by the reaction to the quality of the game back home TBH. Silly when you consider everything in context. Not least after a three week break and the heat and humidity. Made worse on the pitch with the crowd on top of you.

I'm loving the fact it's a heck of a lot cooler in Qatar December for the World Club Cup than it is now as it was stiflingly hot and humid in Madrid. I love warm weather and like most Scousers I'm all over any sun but that was unbearable Sat'day. Kudos to all 22 players and however many subs were used for playing in that heat.

Personally thought we defended magnificently. First half in particular Tottenham were having to work SO hard to just move 15/20 yards up the pitch, Our shape was superb and the passing lanes just weren't there. And it was what, 70/75 minutes before Alisson had a serious save to make? (How the heck wasn't he MOTM BTW?). We kept Tottenham at arms length superbly.

Surprised how our legs went around 60. (I thought theirs would first. They were really blowing the first half.). But all things considered I wouldn't criticise any player for that given the heat, the work they put in, the break and the emotion's of the magnitude of the biggest game in the sport draining you mentally.

Said walking upto the ground ALL that mattered was winning. However it was achieved. Really mature display to win comfortably without being anywhere near our free flowing best.

This side has evolved evolved so much this year and is still nowhere near it's ceiling. Which must be seriously frightening if you're the rest of Europe looking on trying to match the best team on the Continent once again.

It was played like the first game of preseason no momentum and I felt slightly sorry for the spurs players who the majority were unfit. Then again its a final and if we have to hoofball to win the game then so be it.

I like me a good game of football chess, but this wasn't even that, it was just a bad game period. Instead of two teams at their peak performance, we got two teams who were lacking legs and match sharpness. Ann then the ridiculous penalty killed the game within first couple of seconds.

One of the worst finals I've ever seen in my entire life. At some point started browsing the internet and just had audio running and peaking to the game every once in a while if commentators were indicating there is actually something interesting about to happen.

As a neutral it was miserable experience.

Blame the PL who for some reason cant sync up with the other leagues and UEFA who for some reason bog up the football calendar (Nations league I mean come on who cares). Add the heat and humidity it was a game that was destined to be *****. Heck even Robbo who is usually a Duracell rabbit up and down the flank looked leggy after one play were he was overlapping Mane. You know its bad when you dont want to watch even the highlights of your teams CL final win.

Related, surprisingly leaving no stone unturned and being pretty F tactically astute huh for a fella' that just gives out hugs and motivates? :)

Liverpool played Benfica's B team in Marbella before the Champions League final. Turns out it was more than just for fitness reasons, it was specific tactical preparation. I translated some quotes from Renato Paiva (Benfica B manager) who talked to newspaper ABola about it.

D8NUaXTWwAEDu6k

Renato Paiva: "They couldn't pick an English team due to information leaks, they couldn't' peak a Spanish team because Poch spent a lot of years in Spain, they couldn't pick a French team because Lloris is France's goalkeeper. So they had to go with a Portuguese team.

Liverpool lined up the start XI for the Final and asked us to not tell strictly nothing until the day. We received a lot of compliments, at the morning of the game nobody knew anything. we feel pride of ourselves for the invitation, for being in that enviroment.

Liverpool advisor told us: ‘Would like to thank your professionalism because we know that when anyone sneezes at Benfica it becomes news in Portugal. You’re here since Thursday and there wasn’t one single news [leaked]".

To add more context, this video comparison shows how alike the goal/ Benfica/Tottenham shape is from the practice match to the final the video-

..... You know its bad when you dont want to watch even the highlights of your teams CL final win.

Speak for yourself d. Can't personally get enough of watching and re-watching/ reading highlights/ gifs/ tweets/ articles et al from Saturday and the mind-blowing parade Sunday.

Why I'm just adding bits here and there. Just haven't had the time for being immersed in reliving this magnificent 6th haha.

Now their long known departure is 'official' news, a quick note and thanks to Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge:

Alby will be sorely missed around the changies. Guys with his positivity, constant smile on their face, joking around and keeping everything light and fun are an invaluable asset to the dynamic of a team. And he's been a real popular lad right through his time here down to that by all accounts. And we're losing someone who's also been a real good bridge for any Spanish/ Portuguese speaking players in helping them assimilate into the squad.

Just a daft, real likeable lad who sadly never fulfilled the great potential he arrived with from Seville as he never learned from his mistakes nor improved his game his time here. Much to the coaches angst I have no doubt as the attributes have always been there. But his work rate and commitment to the cause, without complaint, could never be questioned.

Daniel is just a real sad case of a top, top talent unfortunately not having the body to match and withstand the rigours of todays game. Absolutely scandalous and ridiculous the amount of times he's had his attitude and commitment called into question when his physical make-up just sadly wouldn't allow him to do what he wanted. But what absolutely superb memories he leaves behind with the goals over the years and the records he set. Top bracket, World class talent. That certainly isn't open to debate. Up there with most great L'pool strikers in terms of pure ability. (His touch and natural finishing were better than Suarez. But the narrative and inability to stay healthy will tell you otherwise.). That goal the outside of his foot final in Basle against Seville man. Not many players the World would even of thought of doing that. Never mind executing it so quickly:

Some of the finishes from all his PL goals for the club. WOW!:

Gonna' miss the dance but the times right to move on.

Made up, as much as Alby was never a favourite, both of them got to end with the biggest and best winners medal in football Saturday in Madrid. And I sincerely thank both for their service to the cause here and wish them all the best in their future endeavours. Wherever they may be.

I agree, barely done anything else but watch the game, goals, celebration read, gifs etc.

This was an extremely professional performance. I have zero issues with the nature of the win. For all the talk of Spurs heart etc. They mostly shot from distance, except that Dele Ali header. It was a solid defensive performance.

I had a Blue yesterday seriously arguing that Pochettino had schooled Klopp tactically but had no luck.

The same Klopp who, aside from anything else, beat Pochettino for the third straight time this season in one of the most comfortable, tactically astute performances we've had in a final in a long time. (First clean-sheet in a EC Final in what, 9 years?). Proper big boy football with the game killed from when we scored the opener and Tottenham comfortably held at arms length.

His fume was madly hilarious, even for the Ev.

But regardless of it not being a free-flowing spectacle, we're the best side in all of Europe again and there's NO better feeling than that. That high is going to carry you on a wave all through the summer and right through next season.

World cup final 94 probably the worst final I've ever watched live.

Classy, top bloke along with being a classy, top footballer-

What can I say…

It’s been one **** of a ride at this beautiful club. We were together for 7 seasons and took a lil break in between.

We had a lot of high and lows together but through it all remained together knowing that one day we’d have to break up. That time is now…..

I wanna say to the fans I love y’all. You made me feel so welcome and embraced me with open arms. The Sturridge dance became famous at Anfield and I’ll never forget the first time I did it in front of the Kop.

To my team mates old and new thank you for the memories the banter was unreal. You all played a part in making me the man I am today. This isn’t a good bye cause Lord knows we’ll stay in touch no matter where I am so speak soon. To the current group of players just letting you know that Sturr crazy sauces will still be available next season so don’t stress yourselves out the lucky sauce will be back ??

To the coaching staff thank you for everything pushing me to my limits in every aspect to become the best I can be that goes for both old and new. Special shoutout to the managers Jurgen and Brendan for guiding my steps and helping me be the best I can be.

The fitness and medical department. Thank you for being on point through the lowest moments but also the highs. Your time and effort for not just me and the lads has been appreciated. I’m grateful I got to thank you all in person outside of social media. Special mention to Chris Rohrbeck for his work all season. Paul Small “Smally” you’ve been there with me from the beginning to the end and at England national team. Nothing but love and respect for you. Lastly Andy Massey you went above and beyond so thank you so much.

Kitchen staff and everyone at Melwood. Thank you for all the hours you put In Behind the scenes to make sure I was taken care of along with the players. Special Shoutout to my other mothers Caroline and Carol. You both are absolute legends! Lee and Graham thanks making life easier from boots to gear, top men!

Ray, Jane, Rachael and Louise. I’ll miss you guys just know I’m forever grateful to you for everything you did for me.

To FSG you guys have done everything in your power to ensure the club has gotten back to the top and it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with you. Special mention for Mike Gordon who was more than just one of the owners but a mentor who has given me advice in and out of football. Tom Werner you’re an absolute boss and I’m still waiting on my cameo in a movie ? , John W Henry thank you so much for being incredible with me through my tenure at Liverpool.
Lastly Mike Edwards who was a big part in recruiting me to the club. Had some great banter with you over the years ?

I’m so happy I was a part of the clubs 6th champions league win because all the fans have deserved it for all the support they’ve given me and club during my tenure.
I wish you all the best in the future and more success for the club.
Like I’ve always said it’s #redordead
Thank you for the memories.

Much love
Daniel

Really gonna' miss that dance.

Seems like Lallana is staying put though. Not so sure about this once you take off the rose tinted lfc glasses the team has moved on from him and he is behind Keita,Chambo and Shaqiri in the midfield role he excels in. I wouldn't mind keeping him as he is an experienced pro and one of the leaders in the squad plus he would be great in the cup games but Lallana cant stay fit without breaking down. He has a worse injury record than Sturridge if you check his injury record history with us.

Edit: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-lallana/verletzungen/spieler/43530
Just checked again my god its terrible coupled with his fitness issues I dont really see a point of keeping him with his high wages. If you calculate it he has missed just shy of 2 seasons worth of games...

What your view on Origi Scouse would you keep him? His value has skyrocketed and now would be the best time to leave on a high. I want to keep him forever but he is 24 and now would be a great chance for him to build on his career and be a deserved started elsewhere.

Totally sound personally with wherever we go on Lallana d.

The club move him on? Sound. No harm no foul and he'll have my best wishes for the twilight years of his career elsewhere.

Jurgen decides to keep him for another year? Equally sound. As you noted, solid veteran presence the changies who leads by example with his stellar work ethic and professionalism. And someone who is a great bloke to have around the place. There's a LOT to be said for lads like that in your club/ changing room.

With the added reassurance of him giving quality back-end depth that you can use for say 10-15 outings or so over the season. Lallana adding his experience and leadership to less experienced domestic cup line-up's for example would be a great asset to have

Really can't lose on this one.

Pretty much the same with Origi.

You'd ideally extend him as he's more than earned that. And it gives you the safeguard, if he doesn't kick-on like you'd hope next year, of having him under contract to flip him next summer.

Or if he wanted out (which by all accounts he, like everyone else, Lallana, Shaqiri etc doesn't. Why would you leave the top team in Europe who's only just starting their cycle again? L'pool is no longer a 'stepping stone' club. It's a final destination club. All your hopes and ambitions can now be realised here once again), you bag £25/ 30 million or more for him right now.

We're in such a strong position here all ways round it's untrue.

I think the last time Lallana appeared in 15 games a season was 2016 season.

Of course if he stays fit; no harm keeping him on but I would definitely look for a more quality bench.

Origi we should keep without a doubt. Give him more game time definitely.

His appearances have dropped off the last few years, but he’s never not appeared in less than at least 15 games each of his 5 years here mate.
