The Reds. Job done. Group won.
That would have been an excellent win at anytime in European togger. To do it with all the key injuries and players running on empty ..... OUTSTANDING win Redmen all things considered.
The latest big miss this time being in nets with third choice Caoimhin Kelleher, who only turned 22 just over a week ago, and making his European debut with only 4 previous first-team appearances under his belt. And he capped a really solid clean sheet display with an outstanding point blank stop from Huntelaar the final 2 minutes to preserve the win. Just the two teenagers getting the full 90 this week on the biggest stage of all. With both combining for the only goal. Albeit from a goalie mistake. Good ball from Neco Williams. (Who had a real solid game to silence the reactionary d/heads among our number who have no concept of youth development.). Finished by Curtis. Man, there’s NO better feeling of pride than having a lad off the same streets as you scoring for L’pool in Europe. Boys own stuff. With a third teenager getting on for the last 5 mins or so to help see the game out and add to his growing experience.
This gang of Reds man. The more obstacles they face, the more they find a way and overcome.
And now the absolute LUXURY of FIVE days to rest and recuperate before Wolves.
Superb, professional European job done.
