The Liverpool Thread

The Reds. Job done. Group won.

That would have been an excellent win at anytime in European togger. To do it with all the key injuries and players running on empty ..... OUTSTANDING win Redmen all things considered.

The latest big miss this time being in nets with third choice Caoimhin Kelleher, who only turned 22 just over a week ago, and making his European debut with only 4 previous first-team appearances under his belt. And he capped a really solid clean sheet display with an outstanding point blank stop from Huntelaar the final 2 minutes to preserve the win. Just the two teenagers getting the full 90 this week on the biggest stage of all. With both combining for the only goal. Albeit from a goalie mistake. Good ball from Neco Williams. (Who had a real solid game to silence the reactionary d/heads among our number who have no concept of youth development.). Finished by Curtis. Man, there’s NO better feeling of pride than having a lad off the same streets as you scoring for L’pool in Europe. Boys own stuff. With a third teenager getting on for the last 5 mins or so to help see the game out and add to his growing experience.

This gang of Reds man. The more obstacles they face, the more they find a way and overcome.

And now the absolute LUXURY of FIVE days to rest and recuperate before Wolves.

Superb, professional European job done.

Up the Group Winning Reds!

Would you look at that the kids came good. That's why you stick with them as the only way they will learn is through making mistakes. Brilliant.

Yeah really looking forward to it. The best academies in the uk for me. Despite the trophies Chelsea have won and the money City have invested.

Here’s to another belter game and NO more F injuries!!!!! ? (It’s not just at first team level we’ve been hit with key ones in this horrible season to that end thus far.).

Interesting that Billy the Kid only played a planned half this morning for the 18’s against Utd.

Seens likely he’ll be another youngster getting European experience this week in the dead-rubber against the Danes.

Quite a couple of weeks or so for Quive. Turns 22. Starts for the English and World Champions on the biggest stage of all, Europe, and then the PL. Thoroughly earned keeping (pun intended) his spot after his work midweek. Couple of teenagers continuing to have the utmost trust. Adding to their blossoming experience. The bench that much stronger with Naby and Trent back. And the most lethal impact sub arguably across Europe currently in Jota when Wolves legs have gone.

Fancy a 3 or 4 goal win here having finally had the rare luxury of a full week to prepare/ game-plan and train. Jiminez is a massive loss for them and the end of the day, as tidy as Wolves are, this is at 64 and counting unbeaten at fortress Anfield in the PL.

Straight into these Redmen!

Up the ‘Pool. Mighty Reds!

Despite Coady’s best cheating efforts (just why wasn’t he carded BTW?), the Reds doing what the Reds do best. And a VAR overturn actually in our favour for once ..... strange times indeed.

Same again second-half boys. Get 2 and 3 and 4 will follow against these.

Without VAR it would have defo penalty as the ref angle was not good and Mane went in a bit reckless. But why no card to Coady is idiotic

It (wrongly) would have been but it wasn’t reckless mate when he completely withdraws his foot from any challenge.

Keep on moving. Nottin to see here. Just the Reds doing what they do with another tricky game in context made routinely simple.

Belter display that’s returned the 6 point advantage over the only other realistic challengers, whatever the table currently says, City. And increases the GD and GS on them by 3 and 9 respectively.

Special shout out to a few in a super team display-

Neco Williams. Another great display and two fingers up to the reactionary gobshites who disgracefully jumped all over a 19-year-old, inexperienced kid again last week. Made even better given the way he boxed off Traore second-half. All whilst on a booking incurred the opening 2 mins of the game. Take a bow mate.

Quive Kelleher. 2 massive games within the space of 5 days. 2nd straight utterly commanding display and clean sheet. Lads WAY too composed to be a #2 goalie. Again, take a bow kid.

Bobby. Since the last break, well and truly back to his best. The touch. The intelligence. The space created for everyone else. Just running it up front. The Bobby we all know and lovefinally out of his slumber the past week.

Gini. What can you say? The man has more energy than the Energiser Bunny! Has he missed a minute for club or Country yet this season? Minimal if he has. Another outstanding, non-stop setting the tone, proper leadership display capped by a Worldie goal.

Trent getting the last quarter and Naby the last 10 was a nice bonus to proceedings.

65 games and counting unbeaten at Fortress Anfield in the league. You just run out of superlatives for this gang of historically awesome Reds: 31 wins from the last 32 home games. All the best to anyone left still to come to ours this year. Starting with Tottenham to be put back in their box next time out here.

Talking of, the biggest bow of the night goes to the rocking Kop. Hearing
‘Oh come oh ye faithful .... ‘ and ‘Merry Christmas, EVERTON!’ cascading out just topped a perfect evening off.

No, scrap that soz ..... Klopp fist bumping the Kop topped EVERYTHING off! Missed that more than most anything.

Up the the F Champion Reds!

Get Gini signed for the simple fact he is the fittest out of all our midfield options.

Heck, if there’s a fitter, harder working player the entire league than Gini he must be some athletic freak! Milner included.

Him and Henderson, who was outstanding again, together continue to be the most under-valued, massively integral part of the best team in World football.

And somehow, Thiago is yet to fit into this!

Hapoy F days my friend! ?
