I am preparing myself for a season of struggle and transition. probably we will end up in europa league.

Well, yeah, that was another 'fun' day at the match this season with Jurgens Reds .....

Today's/ Yesterday's Admin-
Title Countdown: 2 wins down/ 28 to go.
10 points down/ 85 to go.

Current Unbeaten League Run-
P 4 W 2 D 2 F 14 A 5 CS: 2

*Sidenote- I was half tempted to add both a 'Top 4' and 'Relegation' countdown given the absolute absurdity of things right now haha. But when all is said and done, we are still only 7 games into what will be a really strange season for every team with the complete uncertainty of what effect the mid-season break from the scandalous WC will have on EVERY team in the league. And as utterly mad as it sounds, if Utd win the Manchester Derby today, which is distinctly possible given the nature of that rivalry, yesterday's carnage turns into a point gained on City and only 4 points behind them presuming we win the game-in-hand. So that's why the 'Title Countdown' I've done for the past few years will stay until such time as the maths rule us out. 93 points still being on the board, regardless of how bleak anyone feels after another disappointment yesterday, ISN'T ANYWHERE near that time.

Right, now that's cleared up .....

I always find the dichotomy between match-going and non-match-going football support fascinating. Particularly when the team in question is going through a rocky period like we currently are. And, I'd add, in the main, the inherent difference between Scousers and non-Scousers as another one. We're just built differently. Take the match yesterday ..... L'pool were, bar the 15 minutes after half-time when they were on top, absolute dog ****. At home. To Brighton. Even when we were in front, you knew we needed another goal as for some mad, unexplainable reason, we've, bar Matip, completely forgotten how to defend. Not just in both FB's, and Virgil who looks like he's contesting a Harry Maguire look-a-like contest every game. But in what was one of the best protectors and security blankets in all of football in front of them. Fabinho, Who has completely fallen off a cliff thus far this year. Along with the rest of the midfielders and forwards alongside him who are still all over the place with absolutely NO team shape among them. Which has the knock-on effect of absolutely zero press from front-to-back, and makes the lads at the back jobs, who are bereft of confidence to start with, so much harder.

We can pontificate all we like about a change in formation/ lack of new midfield signings et al which would miraculously turn us into World beaters again seemingly. (No, I don't quite understand that one either when EVERY player bar Alisson has been completely off it this this season to date. Along with tinkering schematically from the manager and his staff which have just added to the problems. A couple of new midfield signings in the summer, as needed as they are, wouldn't be having much of any difference to the overall issues right now.). But were just going to have to keep ******* this out until they do rediscover that most precarious of things in sport. Confidence. These lads haven't suddenly become garbage footballers over night. Nor has a World class manager who most EVERYONE was cheering from the rafters after he went to the owners off his own back to extend his stay here another 2 years through 2026 last April (Funny that as he's apparently being handicapped by the owners but I digress), suddenly become terrible who now needs to go. We're just, for whatever reason, going through one of those periods that hits every great team at some point when absolute nothing is working and everyone is off it and struggling. I'm as frustrated as the next man as I can't see or give an answer to what our current malaise is? At every juncture of Jurgens tenure, even if subtle tweaks to things have taken a time to kick in, you've at least been able to see what we were trying to do and how it would take things on another level. Right now, we are THAT unrecognisable in most everything from the proven group of winners that they are, that I can't even begin to suggest what he needs to do to fix things and get that confidence flowing back shy of just working through this until it does click again. The next two massive league fixtures may be just the antidote that's needed.

After a very strange atmosphere yesterday that was weirdly flat from the get-go. (Even 'YNWA' wasn't sung with the same gusto as normal. Something we have to hold our hands up in not playing our part when our team was struggling and needing us the most); watching an absolutely bizarre game that we should never have got a point out of, let alone come from behind to lead, with some absolutely abysmal player performances ..... You can make a case for Alisson, Matip and Mo, who always at the least never stopped running and offered the out ball nobody else did over the top and was a constant menace to Brighton's defenders. Yeah, he needs to start scoring again ASAP. But he's nothing to worry about as his overall game is still there. Conversely Bobby, who did score two very well taken goals, was abject throughout the game. It was like he was playing a game of walking football. His thought process and movement was even slower than the man I doubt we see much more than Ben Davies this year after his Napoli horror show cameo, Arthur. Which is quite impressive. Everyone else was utterly abysmal all game with absolutely nothing coming off for them. And the manager takes his share of the blame in that for some very strange in-game decisions too ..... We were as frustrated as anyone else back in the boozer after for the post match 'What the bleep is going on here?!' rundown. Which was a mix of absolute hilarity at the absurdity of things currently. And some very scathing pulling apart of certain players and no less the managers decisions.

But there's the inherent difference in that dichotomy mentioned above between match-going supporters and reactionary none-match-going 'fans'/ Scousers and non-Scousers .... Nobody at the game, both during and after, was ranting and raving like some of the absolute nonsense I was reading earlier this AM. And nobody after would ever dream of going WAY OTT to the extent of calling for the managers head/ bombing top draw, proven winning footballers out of the club et al like was posted here and all over SM in the aftermath. And we certainly didn't let it run what turned out, as often happens when you don't get the result you wanted, into a great, if very drunken, haha, night with ultimately a 'F it! Today's shites gone. Roll on Tuesday to see what they have in store for us against Rangers?!' attitude. As all you can do is laugh at things when they are this madly unrecognisable from what you know your team is and move on to the next game. There's justified critiquing/ being frustrated/ angry. And there's being an on-line gobshite spouting utter, OTT nonsense for the sake of it. And there's letting a game of football, that don't get me wrong is, as the manager often says, the most important of life's least important things to many, myself included, ruin your night/ weekend. Or calming down after the game and then making the most of what's left of that night/ weekend and having the best time you can before the monotony of the work week starts again on Monday. I spent time in town before the game at a rally against the state of pretty much everything and the way the Tories are destroying lives, which was duplicated in outstanding numbers Country wide, for perspective of just where a draw and garbage performance in a game of football stands in the great scheme of things to be mad angry about.

We're just wired differently here and have an upbeat nature that's hard to put us down.

Oh yeah, there were a good few Glaswegians in town last night already. 4 days before the game!!!!!

Tuesday is going to be a night.

We could be 14 points behind an improving, but nowhere near title challenging, Arsenal side next Sunday!

The absolute surreal absurdity of that, and not knowing WHAT version of L'pool will show up, is amusing the living P out of me this morning,.

Hahahahahahahahaha. To add to the surreal madness, this is our worst league start since Brendan's last season-

First off, big pat on the back to us. We were as flat and off it as the team Sat’day and didn’t play our part at all in the Brighton carnage. Last night was the complete opposite. Raucous atmosphere from before the game an another memorable Anfield European night. And the extra love and support for the much maligned and struggling Trent and Jordan, who responded in kind with superb performances, showed just what we continue to think of both players amidst all the on-line nonsense.

The less said about the flag shaging scruffs the other end the better. From their pathetic, Chelsea-esq plastic flag waving, through how quiet they were all night, Rangers support was as disappointing as their team. I was expecting far more from them but they were as bad as Newcastle for the worst support at Anfield thus far this season. Trying to nark at us with GSTK, and nonsense about Britannia ruling the waves (WHAT year is this again? ), backfired spectacularly. ’Yers can stick yer National Anthem/ Royal family up yer ****!’. And telling Prince Andrew exactly what he is, was the perfect response. Although we might not want to give them that next Wednesday or they might well Nuke us!

Superb response on the pitch too to leave us in a real strong position in the group. As ***** as Rangers are L’pool didn’t allow them anything and if Nunez could finish, we’d have given them the walloping they deserved.
I liked having the two sitting midfielders to bring back that defensive solidity. Nice building block with only our third clean sheet of the season. Not sure we want to be setting up like that against City say as we’d never see the ball. But right here, right now it was a solid play. Top marks to most everyone bar the aforementioned Darwins schoolboy finishing. His all around game was excellent. So much better with the shackles off and the freedom to use his pace and range right across the pitch. But you have to be cuter in your finishing mate. Webbing it as hard as you can straight at the ‘keeoer isn’t going to get you many at all. Virgil finally came to play this year in an angry, aggressive display. Jordan and Trent were superb as mentioned running the game. Trent’s free kick was just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥And the stupendous Tsimikas clearance off the line and outstanding Milner block tattle just epitomised the desire to keep them out.

Great night all around that sets up next week perfectly. Win that, coupled with another Napoli win, and we’re all but qualified all ready.

But first the next venture into the unknown all ready and just what L’pool will turn up at Arsenal? 🤷🏼‍♂️ It’ll be another belter day out regardless following the Reds. Just be nice to be coming home with 3 points and Arsenal put back in their box but we’ll see. Anything and everything could happen Sunday but at least we’ve put another big foundation block in place last night to getting back to the top, TOP side we still are.

Jurgen Norbert Klopp- 7 years and counting as manager of Liverpool Football Club.

Presiding over robably the most enjoyable 7-year period of my 42-year match-going support. Restoring this behemoth of a club back to the very pinnacle of the World game and playing his part in transforming it into the best position, on and off the field, at every level, it’s ever been at any time through our storied 130 year and counting history.

Here’s to the next 7 years of having the absolute time of our lives under an honorary and PROPER F Scouser who just gets it. ALL of it!

Starting with a boss anniversary party putting Arsenal back in their box tomorrow!

Liverpool managers to hit 7-year milestone

  • 1. Tom Watson – 18 years, 9 months (1896-1915)
  • 2. Bill Shankly– 14 years, 7 months (1959-1974)
  • 3. George Kay – 14 years, 5 months (1936-1951)
  • 4. Bob Paisley – 8 years, 11 months (1974-1983)
  • 5. George Patterson – 8 years, 5 months (1928-1936)
  • 6. Jurgen Klopp– 7 years (2015-2022*)

Well done Jürgen.
Great to have the Scousers competing in the football league again.
It had gotten stale.

Ah well.
At least Everton didn't leapfrog you in the table (y)
Boots down on Broadway would have sold out of tissues and hand cream.

I mean, he has never shown good skill or awareness in defending. He is just being found out more, all team is collapsing in different parts.

I mean there’s a lot you could nark at Trent for right now but to say he’s never been aware or good defensively is absolute bollocks mate.
