Actually feels good for once to be home after work and not be rushing down the 62 for what will doubtless be 90 minutes solid abuse about death from the oh so ‘nice’ gang of lads in their South Stand. Being called a ‘murderer’ and having the faces against fences gesture, and our ****** waving Turkey flags on their ‘phones in retaliation, is the very LAST thing I wanted to experience on this weekend of all weekends.

L’pool need to play ‘angry’ again like the last hour last Sunday when they were the absolute, unplayable business against Arsenal. Play like that, with that intensity and belief, we’ll win all the last 9 with ease and be darn unlucky to miss top 4. Play like the first half-hour last week, and we’ll lose all 9.

It was a noticeable factor last week that for the first time since the CS opener destruction of City, we had, bar Curtis who was great, out best XI on the field. And now with Thiago another week further on, and the massively missed Diaz back, we are hitting full strength at just the right time.

Something changed across the whole side on 30 last week to produce our best display of the season. All that was lacking was a little more clinical finishing to give Arsenal the walloping they deserved.

Lets have more of that tonight Redmen. Play ‘angry’ from the very first whistle!

Straight into Dirty Leeds! This rivalry/ hatred, like the one coming on Saturday, is long standing and cuts deep!

Yanno’, when you are in the last 10 game run-in of a season, performances don’t matter a jot. ALL that matters is getting the points ….. Well the last 2 games to start our 10 game run-in to, 🤞🏻🤞🏻, the top 4 finish and place at Europe's top table we so crave, the performances have been outstanding. With the added bonus tonight that we gave the display the goals we deserved but couldn’t quite find against Arsenal.

First off, all credit to Leeds United for the marvellous touch of the pre-game remembrance that this weekend is ALL about. The two wreaths laid in front of our end by both captains was a super gesture greatly appreciated. 👏🏻👏🏻

As for the game, the Reds were absolute mustard in racking up their biggest away win of the season in style. In so doing ending a 5-game winless run. Bar one very casual moment of madness from the otherwise utterly dominant Konate, that's as good as it gets away from home in a very hostile environment. A patiently controlled first half of very good intensity again which wore Leads down before complete and utter dominance after the breakthrough. Which, BTW, had nothing wrong with it. That's the one thing VAR has got right. Not getting involved in accidental, non-deliberate handballs. With some sparkling goals and football that followed. And the added bonus of a good 10 mins in his legs for our long missed Colombian after 6 months out.

Every player in Red was superb but a special shout-out to the madly maligned J’s. Jones and Jota. Curtis, for the third straight game, was very good again as he gets stronger and more into rhythm. And as soon as Jota’s first went in, you could see the weight lifted and his confidence soar. He was good before his first with a good assist for Mo. He was excellent after he finally bagged again. I couldn’t be happier for the pair of them. Two terrific young talents who have a big part to play in Klopp 2.0.

And that little Egyptian fella’ in the number 11 shirt ….. 5 out of 6 seasons he’s bagged 25 goals or more now. From ostensibly RW. The fella' isn't even a number 9 yet he continues to put up ridiculous numbers season in, season out. But yeah, lets sell him! 🤦‍♂️

Superb, utterly ruthless display.

Gap cut to 9. Top 4 well and truly still in play.

Tell us again this team is finished!

Bring on the scab bastards Sat’day!

I hadn’t realised last night was Leeds United’s biggest home defeat in the PL era.

In a grim season, we’ve had some belter record wins to look back on and cherish for ever-

Equalling the PL record scoreline, along with equalling our own best ever home win/ top flight league win, and biggest in the PL era with the 9-0 over Bournemouth.

Handing Glasgow Rangers their biggest ever defeat at Ibrox Park in the 7-1 in the groups. And their heaviest ever defeat in European competition. Side note- Always amusing when folk try denigrate that, like last night, with ‘’Its only Leeds/ Rangers. And they are both utter S!’ ….. Why haven’t any other sides done the same then in history at those hostile grounds?

And the coup de grâce of historical wins-

Handed United the most embarrassing defeat in their storied history in the magnificent 7-0 hammering. As utterly S as most of this season has been, imagine if we’d suffered that humiliation the other way round? Where you couldn’t say ANYTHING to a Utd fan without having that thrown back in yer grid. The way we now will forever hold that over them until such time as they ever hand us a similar epic doing. 😎

I’ll look back on this year proper fondly as one of the ultimately most enjoyable seasons ever if I’ve both got to witness a historic win over Utd. And the Ev go down. That happening to your 2 biggest rivals in the same season …..

Yeah, that would save this grim L’pool season and then some!
 
Forget top 4. The hated rivalry alone, which is still as strong as ever, ALWAYS makes this a must win.

Disgraceful in a game of top flight football. And we weren't particularly good either which makes their pathetic approach even worse.

But I just wanted to quickly post this to @dilakh2 before I grab some tea-

It continues to baffle the living P out of me how you not only don't see the qualities in that lad mate. But talk about him like he's Benteke/ Origi/ Diouff incarnate! Absolutely no coincidence that our counter-press has been pretty much non-existent from where it starts, up top, in his absence. Nor that he's back with his uncanny knack of notching the first goal in games now he's getting stronger and approaching full fitness again.

I'm all for a differing POV on a player. But you have a mad anti-Jota thing that is like the disdain you had for Clyne. Which just blows my mind.

Clyne was utter tosh I won't budge on that and his off-the-field shenanigans never helped. Jota is just a poor footballer for me who I don't mind being the first choice off the bench. Yes, he will get goals albeit the streaky player he is and he is wonderful in the air. However, he isn't a patch on Diaz on the left wing OR Nunez insane pace on the left. In the CF position, it has to be Gakpo because for one he can spot a pass and link up play or Nunez as a classic 9. Jota is a luxury player and in a rebuild, if someone offers you 50mill plus for Jota, harsh decisions have to be made IMO. He isn't a bad player but he just isn't good enough to be the first choice and there's nothing wrong with that.
 
*This will be long as I can’t express my feelings and thanks in a short message-

Having slept on yesterday, and there still being only one overriding thing from the game on my mind this AM, this games missive won’t be about the actual game of football, but the poignant, very emotional stance from a group of Nottingham Forest fans who have my utmost respect and thanks for trying to change the narrative and educate their own.

For those not aware, we’ve always had a very, lets say, ‘strained’ relationship with Forest since the late ‘70’s. Which has, frankly, bordered on out right hatred both ways. Initially born out of this small, provincial club that had the temerity to not only challenge our dominance at home and abroad. But take the League title and European Cup from us. All under the guidance of their absolutely despicable gobshite of a manager who didn’t have a respectful bone in his body. (More about him in a minute.). The difference between us was never more stark than during the minors strikes in 1984 and the Nottingham minors doing the very antipathy of socialist, unionist L’pool in breaking the picket lines and the solidarity (‘Key’ word in all this we’ll come back to in a mo), with their own in that fight. We are polar opposites apart and don’t ‘get on.’ And then we have the crux of my musings this morning. That fateful, life changing day for anyone in attendance back in 1989 in Sheffield. The intensity of the hatred between ourselves and Forest was hammered home last year in the Cup when, after a 23 year absence, the vitriol toward us was as strong as ever. But there was a new, jaw dropping element that had crept in. That was on show again this year down there in the league. ‘Tragedy Chanting.’ Made worse that they shared in the horrors of Hillsborough having been forced to watch it unfold in front of them from the other end of the ground.

Forest should be the one's who should always be saying ’There but for the grace of God.’ For, if it wasn’t for one incompetent imbecile at the FA, ‘reasoning’ the Hillsborough Kop was closer to the M1, giving the club with the smaller following the bigger end, they’d have been at the other end of the ground and would have been mourning their own losses 8 days ago for the 34th year in a row. I know the false narrative wasn’t only set by the Establishment and right wing press over the duration, but by their own despicable, horrible human being of a manager Clough and his unbelievably hurtful slights and lies on our City and Scousers in general. But for all the abuse we’ve regularly got over Sheffield, hearing that from the opposition on the day, who suffered psychologically in many ways just as we did, being helplessly penned in being forced to watch the horrors in front of them; has hurt more than from any other club.

So for a group of Forest fans to do what they did yesterday, unfurling that banner on 6 minutes, a poignant touch in itself given that was the time when the game was stopped 34 years ago, to rapturous applause from not only ourselves, naturally, but their entire end ….. I can’t tell you how poignant and emotional a moment that was.

For a group of Forest fans to stand up to their own, and try change the narrative that has been scandalously woven through society here from those that should have been showing solidarity with us for well over a quarter of a Century now, and start to CHANGE their owns minds ….. That puts the trivialities of the actual game of football into STARK perspective.

The actual game of which passed me by in many respects as I just kept being drawn to the banner that was left up all game from the 6th minute. And in particular one thing we’ve rarely had from outside the City with the line that resinates the most:

’Solidarity With Survivors’

Forest have madly been a big part of the national problem when they should have been one of our biggest allies. But hopefully, now, minds and attitudes will start to change and they can begin to educate their own on whats right and whats wrong.

Poignant beyond words. LONG overdue. And our appreciation for the lads taking this stance couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank you. Sincerely. I never thought I’d say this against Forest, but the game, our rivalry, none of it mattered at all yesterday in respect of what was really important.

’Solidarity With Survivors.’

Not often I’ve felt that from the outside over the past 34-years. Yesterday, it was emotionally beautiful to experience that.
