He is another who has impressed in pre-season ... still dont think we are strong enough to get that 4th spot but we will certainly be stronger than last season, in my opinion anyway
I think it's quite an 'open' season this year to be honest, there's questions around all the teams up there. Yet to see if Moyes can do a good job at United, same for Pelligrini at City, Mourinho at Chelsea, and also whether Arsenal and Spurs can improve and make strides from last seasons performances, and of course well we know about Liverpool

Looking forward to watching Spurs ( from a neutral perspective anyway )

Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue, Chadli and if they keep Bale have a fantastic squad now.. should be very interesting, for the minute i would say they were favorites for that 4th spot

Even without Bale they are firmer favourites than Arsenal for fourth. At least in my eyes they are.

I agree with the both of you to be honest Spurs have strengthened extremely well, they've brought in top class players no doubt, be interesting to see how long it takes them to settle in though, that could be the decider on how well Spurs do this season

Lloris

Walker - Kaboul - Vertonghen - Rose

Paulinho - Sandro

Lennon - Dembele - Bale

Soldado

is a petty formidable line up

Looks like it could do some damage, and thats without Capouie and Chadli in the starting line up, got a lot of depth

City and Chelsea for me are the two who will most likely be fighting it out, hard to judge how United will do under Moyes in his first year. I don't expect them to be far off but may not quite be the same United we've had around for so long, I could be talking complete ***** though. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they're fighting it out till the end.

Spurs are the obvious favorite for fourth with the ability to go higher if they can hold form through the entire season and not just turn on the afterburners half way through. Not a huge fan of them but hard to admit they'd be a very interesting team to keep an eye on.

Arsenal although have a very very impressive record of top four finishes I just don't see them doing it unless one of the new "big four" have some serious issues. Fighting against some much stronger teams and haven't really improved their team much at all (We'll see if Suarez joins).

Didn't they say similar about Torres?

Anyway if it's true I reckon that's all the transfer business done for LFC. Unless another first team player leaves.

Anyone else getting fed up of FSG?

They said almost exactly the same thing.

He was gone a week later...

No chance, we've already tried to sign Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa for £20mil+ aswell as trying to attempt a deal for Papadpolous ... Henry said in that article we are working on deals

we have a net spend of £3million ... money is not the problem, its finding the right targets

As for Diego Costa for £24 million, rather not. I would be asking the likes of Lamela, Muniain, Willian ( seeing as Anzhi are selling ) about their availability

still expect us to sign at least 2 more, maybe 3 depending on Suarez

- Out of form Torres, title challenging club offering £50million

- One of the worlds best strikers, being sold to direct rival for a potential Champions League place

Slightly different scenario's.. i can see FSG at least sticking by their word in the sense he wont be going to Arsenal

Nope, almost exactly the same scenario, he was at the time your other star player, and you were desperate to hold onto him for top 4.

Whether it will have the same outcome is a different story. But the setup is virtually the same

star player on paper, in terms of form for the 6 months previous he was a shadow of himself for one reason or another where as Suarez is genuinely near his peak and is performing like on of the worlds best

The players current form, the team in questions being sold to, the fact of learning from past mistakes i think all make it a slightly different situation

one thing is certain, FSG will look foolish if they do end up selling - especially to Arsenal

I'm not sure about the Diego Costa deal. Aren't we supposed to have activated a transfer clause? If so why is he not in talks with us? Also we were never prepared to match Shaktar's valuation of Mkhitaryan.

I believe FSG are trying to make it look as if we are trying to sign top players but in fact they aren't prepared to pay out for them.

Apparently we offered slightly less than the release clause... but they rejected the offer

Mkhitaryan was alot more complicated than just agreeing a transfer fee, the third party ownership caused alot of problem if you believe everything that was reported on the deal

My opinion only, but i think they are willing to pay out, we just got beat in our primary target ( Mkhitaryan ) and are trying to negotiate a good deal for others

Like i said we have only spent £3million net, even FSG have given us more than that every window since they have been here

No doubt that if you do keep him the fans will love him again when he starts scoring after his ban. No doubt about it.

You're being a bit revisionist and splitting hairs here. Make no mistake, Liverpool were absolutely loathed to selling Torres, we can dig up all sorts of articles on this, the before summer Suarez was being scouted with the aim to be bought in the hope he would stay, be revitalised and help take you to top 4, alongside Gerrard he was undoubtedly your star man. At the time was a world class player, struggling for form through injuries.

It's the same situation again, Liverpool are just trying to make sure they get a different outcome.
