I agree with you largely, but throwing cash at their problems doesn't always work.

If they consistently put those sorts of funds in (which they can) and are sensible with how they invest it, they will ultimately get back into the top 4 if nothing else. I actually think you're relatively safe and that it's Arsenal who will fall behind unless Wenger has some sort of personality transplant in the near future.

But surely you know the effects of signing loads of players on a short space of time?.....

Arsenal need a 20+ goal a season striker simple, although Wenger is just stubborn

Definitely agree with you about the term World Class, it's thrown around too much and is loosely attached to too many players.
This is getting better, like United's season was a joke.. hardly taking the high ground.
Did I say it was ok when Liverpool have a bad season?, finishing 7th was embarrassing for us but it's not relevant anymore and has no baring on our next season.
I'm pretty sure Liverpool got a lot of stick for losing the title, mainly from United fan's so the whole god forbid if United did it isn't really much of a point. I could also pick out a lot of grammatical mistakes in your reply, but I won't go there like you did.
Anyway, let's end the discussion as we are deferring from the actual intention of this thread which is discuss Liverpool and not argue between ourselves :)
Yea man, my English isn't the best when I'm drunk. I've noticed that and I punished my self for that.
Anyway, just to explain my thoughts, since you didn't get them, you finished 7th, and then you finished 2nd season after. Saying United can't do that is plane ignorant. So thats why I said you took high ground. Don't worry, nothing personal, it's just my inner justice something something that wakes up when someone is talking ****. Bare in mind, that something something is 99% of time wrong so I turn out like complete jerk. Meh, have to live with that. So, enough of this self dr. Phil voodoo ****, I agree with letting this thing die in ****.

Could see Sanchez filling that role for them, although Wenger will probably play him as a midfielder for some reason. On paper they've actually made 2 really good signings this summer, but they still lack a holder. It's way too easy to walk straight through their midfield at the moment.

Sanchez will play wide-right imo, he'll take time to fit in, can't see him doing too much next season.
Schneiderlin could fill that role, he's a very good player.

Really? I don't see why you'd be very happy with it, this post from a day back sums it up for me.

Depends what you expected. Did I expect Liverpool to buy big name players after one successful season? No... Did I expect Liverpool to buy young talent with the aim of improving the squad with a few ffirst teamers? Yes.

Our starting 11 isn't in massive need of improvement but the depth and ability to change a game with your sub's is.

Lallana, Remy, Lovren, Markovic, Lambert all improve our squad and can more than contribute in the first 11... Can and Origi
Are youngsters who'll only improve

Expect a LB to sign and another attacking player and our squad looks very competitive
Who do you have at LB position? If he's that bad, he can only be backup? Is Flanagan RB or LB? He seems like a pretty good prospect.

Enrique and Flanagan both better - 8M for a back up? Use one of those mentioned as a back up and buy Moreno instead

I find it funny how people are judging before a ball has yet been kicked in this new season. Both Liverpool fans and United fans are bigging themselves up too much in my opinion. We will obviously not be the same as we were last season without Suarez, but we do still have a young, pacey, exciting counter attacking side. Even without Suarez last season we had some very good games.

United fans on the other hand seem to think now LVG is in charge, they are going to win everything. There are still LOTS of issues still to address in their side. Rooney isnt half the player he used to be (I hate him, but I have to say he was a quality player when he had that fire in his belly, which he has sadly lost), RVP is getting old now, there are no natural leaders in your defence and well Fellaini...

Both teams have a lots of work to do before they can challenge, and both it seems have the money to do so. Time will tell with transfers, but I feel it is going to be close between Liverpool and United as of right now.

I'm sorry but this just isn't true, if you read a few pages back a Liverpool fan on here said United are struggling in FFP and Liverpool are favourites to sign Vidal and Reus, which is where the fuckton of posts afterwards spiralled from... with United fans getting involved.

Also I don't know where you're getting the whole "United fans now think they can win everything" from, pretty much every forum I'm a part of is full of United fans excited that we now have a manager with pedigree and a style we like. But none of them are even saying we are going to win anything, it's mostly just about trying to get back into the top 4. (Just like when you guys were excited when Hodgson left, think we have a right to be as well after Moyes, that's nothing to do with thinking we can win everything like you said).

Oh and we know we have squad problems etc, did we say we didn't?... but I'll repeat again, this stemmed from a Liverpool fan.

This is the exact post that caused the ton of reaction on this thread; -

Clueless, so clueless.. Anyone who is criticising Rodgers deals so far need help.. Before this window were 109m pound above the FFP laws, they then sold Suarez to make that 184m and after Lovren, Remy and Origi deals have gone through they will beback at around 95-100m, enough to sign Reus and Vidal (Who LFC are now favourites to sign due to United being in FFP issues) maybe even Isco if they sell Agger, Borini, Assaidi etc., people need to stop complaining and have a little faith.

I would like a striker to be signed to take some of the burden off sturridge.

Remy, Lambert and Sturridge good options with plenty of options in behind them aswell

Dreaming but a Di Maria or Reus would set us up perfectly.. Isco seems available as well which would be a fantastic signing

How did this United/Liverpool debate start anyway?

Some petty comments coming from both sides. About time it was laid to rest... Wait for the season to start then we'll have answers

It started from this... and this only...

Remy will be a good addition to our quick counter style. Cant see lambert fitting in to it unless we play on playing long balls and holding the play up alot in the final third

So ******* funny reading the last 5 pages of this. Some of you should go into politics. You speak bollocks and squabble like 10 year olds. Probably a future Prime Minister could come from FM Base Liverpool thread.

If anything Liverpool are overestimating their chances of actually beating last seasons position. United have a far better chance of beating theirs.
