@MrEdsFM (Who's a Liverpool fan) Reasons Rodgers hasn't done as badly as some LFC fans say he has:
1.) The club has clearly progressed massively since Rodgers took charge and last year was clearly indicative of his ability.
2.) FSG's focus on youth is an astute step in dealing with the financial differences versus the top four. But it doesn't happen immediately. This focus means you've got less to spend on established stars and therefore less room for error when signing them.
3.) Transfers are hard. A lot harder than playing a season on FM and signing the dude who got an average rating over 7.5.
4.) A number of factors have conspired to leave this team with no established, at-peak star player. Many of those factors are not BR's fault.
5.) And so is it any wonder the team lacks identity when so many of the players themselves are yet to establish themselves? Even some of our most talented players are yet to really own a position. They're very young compared to the players who 'run' the top four teams.
6.) Whether you like it or not (you don't) wages have a huge influence on position. Only five teams outside of the top four wage bills have finished in the top four.
7.) It's not easy to get into the top four this year. Arsenal, Chelsea and City are all well worthy, so are United based on results, if not performances.
8.) Yes, the season's been disappointing. But I think that's the word; disappointing. We haven't under-achieved, we've just been par. After the highs of last season, lots of people seem to feel cheated that we're back to par. I guess it's understandable.
9.) But just because we won loads 30 years ago doesn't mean the best players will throw themselves at us now. Get over yourself. Stop deluding yourself that we're special and you might actually start thinking rationally about the club again.
Came across this on Twitter and I believe some LFC fans will agree with the points @MrEdsFM has made. One obvious point he has missed out though is that without your two best goal-scorers (Sturridge and Suarez) of course you were always going to struggle, any team would! I for one believe sacking Rodgers would be a mistake; unless you can get Klopp, but still there's a certain risk involved with that and of course he may not even want to come.
half of his points are debatable was gonna write bullshit but yeh.
They're without a doubt debatable, but still he makes some very good points that I believe the Rodgers naysayers should look at. I mean that "Rodgers out, Rafa in" banner today was absolutely pathetic in my opinion, talk about a step backwards.
yeh that banner was as stupid as stupid can get. his first point irks me though. weve progressed under rodgers NO WE HAVE NOT. we have gone more into debt as a club by needless spending, i read that we spent more in the past 3 years than chelsea and arsenal i didnt believe it at first but if you look into it its actually true. finally and the biggest problem with rodgers is that he doesnt learn what so ever from his mistakes.
In terms of league position you've improved; from finishing 7th, 6th and 8th to 7th, 2nd and most likely 5th this season under Rodgers. In terms of transfers I don't think Rodgers can be entirely to blame, others must take responsibility as well especially when you're talking about debt. However I do agree that he doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes, maybe that's because he's still developing as a young manager or it could just be a flaw with him. As I've said I think he's the best option you've got at the moment, unless you can get Klopp.
can we afford to keep letting him make these mistakes, i honestly dont think we can. 2017 is the cut off point with the billions being pumped in those CL spaces are vital. its make or break for us as a club now. klopp isnt the be all and end all tbh. theres unai emery whos managed to get seville into europa league final and win it aswell as competing for 4th on a shoe string budget. there de boer whos done excellent work with ajax not so much this season but how much is that down to him or their DOF. the only reason why rodgers might not go is that it would cost a lot of money to terminate his contract.

If we didn't stumble against both WBA and Hull, we'd be 1 point ahead of United. But instead we're 4 points behind, with our next game away at Stamford Bridge. We'd have to win our 3 remaining games with United dropping points in 2 of theirs. That's just not gonna happen.

He's totally changed his view from pre season then...
