can you blame him, years of promised lie's. I mean he got his move won trophies that he would most likely not have won with us. we owe him nothing and he owes us nothing. simples.

Yeah, he must be SO proud of the part he played in those trophys.

Never came off the bench the FA Cup final (a game we absolutely battered Chelsea); and got a limited time off the bench the European Cuo final. And wasn't even one of the penalty takers. But hey, he did play the UEFA Cup final so there is that.

What a 'glorius' end to a career.

I don't buy that. The club treated him very badly. I'm not someone who buys into only the player can do wrong. Why give them the chance when they had already failed to do so before. It's on the club as much as it is on Torres. And clearly they are lessons the club has failed to learn.

Boston had only just taken over and made the change of manager. They then went out and splashed on Suarez to partner him. And then (stupidly as they panicked) splurged most of the money form Torres on Carrol.

He left them hanging the end of that window.

That said, there's still lessons not been learned it's true. (But not in Sterling as I presume you're alluding to but we'll have to agree to disagree on him.).

im hearing that its actually city who want firminho. the only snag is payment plans due to FFP issues.

Just a guess, but I would imagine he would be a back-up option to Sterling.. Cant see them getting both tbh

whether we as fans like it or not. a players career is short and you get judged on the trophies you win. despite scoring a **** tonne of goals for us he never won anything. thats the facts, as rafa would say.

I don't think in 10 years, anyone is gonna remember Torres winning trophies with Chelsea, if they are gonna remember him, it'll be for his perfomances in Liverpool and his transfer to Chelsea.

I was talking about fernando torres himself i think he would rather have won all those trophies than stay at midtable mediocrity with us.

Torres is one of my favourite footballers and he simply left to win trophies at a point in his career he knew probably wouldn't come round again

He was a better player at Liverpool, but at Chelsea he won almost everything...

I'm sure he'll look back on his career and prefer being one of Liverpool's best ever strikers rather than being on the bench at Chelsea and watching his teammates winning him trophies.

Problem is he was on the wane with us, we would have most likely ended up replacing him a season or two later. like marshall said we over used him his hamstrings were shot. A chance to join chelsea and win it all was probably his best option. He cant print out his wikipedia page and frame the amount of goals he scored for us, but he can have a room full of every trophy/medal you can win possible.

I'd argue it was FAR more down to the mega money Chelsea threw his way.

Even if he was still narked at the club, that was the previous regime. That Chelsea side under Grant and then Di Matteo was distinctly average and wasn't that much greater than what we had and we'd just added Suarez right out of the gate from FSG. ****, we should of done the domestic Cup double again the same year they robbed us the Cup final and won the Champions League. Plus they'd just fired Hodgson and installed Kenny and the whole atmosphere around the club had changed. Which rolled on the pitch with the great second half of the year we had with the players all happy again.

But he chose to take Russian riches and negate having the chance to be an all time Liverpool legend which he was well on the way to becoming.

Yeah, he has three Cup winning medals, the main two as a bit part player; but at what cost?

Except he stated it wasn't, as he admitted he was "very well paid" at Liverpool. Chelsea offered him the change he was looking for, and were the only club who could meet what Liverpool asked for.

As for all time Liverpool legend, not sure that is going to mater to him as much as trophies. Not everyone sees that as the pinnacle. Besides he is already a legend at the club he loves more than any other: Atletico

NOBODY had Chelsea down to do much of anything in Europe in 2011/12. That was as much out of the blue as Istanbul was for us Benitez's first season in '05. We won the League Cup and should have beaten a Chelsea side, with Torres unused on the bench, we completely dominated in the Cup Final.

When he jumped ship, after a change of ownership, manager and immediate big signing to partner him; Chelsea were FAR from a banker for trophy's and not that much more of a prospect all told at that time than ourselves.

But hey, he got a whopping three Cups out of his move (not that he played much of a part in the major 2 of them) and a shed load more money so I'm sure that makes it all worth while.

Regardless of whether you feel the club was at fault/ Torres was right et all, it's a complete fallacy that Chelsea offered him that greater chance of trophies. Chelsea were the only club seriously in for him with the stupid money in wages is more the top and bottom of it.

I didnt say he left for trophies, he left for change.

Chelsea were certainly better built to aim for trophies than Liverpool were though, they were always going to have better players and better backing, he would always stand a better chance with them. As it shows.

HE claimed he was going to a better club to win things. As he disgracefully put it, he was 'joining a bigger club.'

In terms of what they can achieve they are. They were more capable of winnings things than Liverpool were, so certainly were a better club to win things. They did win while he was there. They are the dominant side in the league.

Crud. Completely forgot this was on .....

Anybody been watching the Czech Rep- Germany U'21 game at the Euro's?

Wondered how Can has played?

You don't come out and say that after playing at Anfield regardless. Least of all after joining Chelsea.

That's akin to someone leaving Utd and going to City and saying they'd joined a bigger club.

It just showed what he is

Someone who wanted to win trophies?

It's not the same because United were actually in the mix for major titles, having won one two years ago. Liverpool's last major trophy was the FA cup in 06? Chelsea had just done the double two seasons before he joined.
