The key word there is might. Kompany is far superior to Skrtel in the air, and to be honest, I don't think Skrtel should've been the one marking him in the first place!

These 'habits' also help us at times though. I have to admit, I do feel uneasy every time Skrtel pulls someone's shirt at a corner, or manhandles them in a defensive position, but his fouls are actually quite tactical. He treads the line carefully, and only really commits fouls he needs to. His ball distribution is his weakness, in my opinion, but then, how many defenders can play the ball like Agger?

Skrtel stands a far better chance actually defending though instead of pratting about holding onto shirts. He's liability at set pieces, and often in general play.

he isnt treading the line carefully, he should have given away 3 penalties vs City.

His fouls arent tactical, they are because he gets himself in the wrong position and then has to foul to make up for it. That's just basic bad defending.

Only thing I would say though is that Kompany had his forearm across Skrtel's face every corner. Owen only noticed this once but it happened everytime.

Kompany may have done it as a result of Skrtel's holding, but that makes him just as punishable as well.

Kompany pretty much does it all the time, I think that why there was no pen - ref just allowed a bit of rough play is all.

individual mistakes and poor defending from set pieces has cost us points this season, not just from the city game

Terrible performance, so sloppy on the ball, midfield non existent

Not sure what it is. Tiredness? Thin squad? Individual mistakes? either way Chelsea have been dominant

Midfield has been awful, defence has been awful, and Suarez can't run a team by himself. We're lucky it's not 4-1 imo.

It does annoy me that there have been many poor performances, but as usual everyone will point fingers at Lucas and Skrtel regardless.

Should have been another peno there, but as its Suarez......

Definite penalty. How on earth was that not given?

ridiculous. Rodgers will get fined for calling te refs out on their ****, instead of the refs being punished.

Deserved to lose today, but again a poor decision from the ref has cost us a point.

In brighter news, We only have 1 away game against a team currently in the top 8 after today (if the tweet on BBC was correct)
