I think the main problem lies with FSG. The sooner they sell us to a billionaire Arab the better :D

They are very good in terms of managing finances and improving us off the field, but with the funding in football nowadays that is simply not enough

We have a manager who players don't wanna play for, that's the big issue.

Look through the last three years, all our main 'targets' just went somewhere else.

FSG have the right idea, but we can't compete with money, and as sad as it is 95% of the time it lies down to that

I just think is sad that we get all the leftovers in the transfer market. we only get players that the big clubs don't want. if there comes to a situation that the player has to choose between Liverpool and/or 2-3 other clubs he will will always choose the other club and this shows a serious problem for the club. Teams have developed their scouting so much and therefore we cannot anymore get players like Torres/Suarez since other big clubs will spot them too and make an offer for them....

According to Forbes' latest ratings, we're the 8th most valuable club in the world, at £644m - more than twice what FSG paid five years ago.

Then again, 4 of the clubs in front of us are English, placing us at the same place in that table as in the league table: 5th.

As the 8th most valuable club in the world, it should definitely be possible to get some world class players. We're ahead of clubs like Dortmund, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan. Sure, some of these clubs (especially PSG) have more financial muscle than us regardless of the club's worth, but still - if Liverpool FC can't sign world class players, then not many clubs can. I think intent is a more important factor here than what we're willing to acknowledge.

Apart from PSG though, and Juventus maybe, it is the other 7 infront of us who will always sign these world class players! I get your point though!

FSG have done well, but its just unfortunate that England is so superior to most leagues in terms of financial depth

i think after 2017 youll see a whole change of owners in the premier league what with the new deals meaning more money etc...

yeah but we cant really argue that they havent provided money and backed the manager. 200mill plus weve spent more in transfers then chelsea and arsenal. if only we had genie scout as our actuall scouts.

We've only spent an average of 14mil net per window since they joined the club and the majority of signings we've made have been replacing our best players rather than building on what we had

true, but and a big but our transfet record in signing players is rather abysmal even you have to agree. who can blame them in that case.

Our transfer record is abysmal, but FSG play a big part in that as well

Yeah I really don't get why Pool is so **** at transfers. Because the money is certainly there. The whole thing reeks of incompetence of upper management, the manager, and the scouting department. Its not like Depay only started to shine this year, for example.

Financially you were even worse under Benitez, but he always managed to poach some promising talent. Some were a hit, so were a miss, but the point is, he had plenty of hits.

At the time, we were in a better position under Benitez... Champions League winners/finalists, regular Champions League participation and the financial gap wasn't as obvious then

The emergence of Man City has made it harder also

Yeah, but FPP should be starting to close that gap down now.

The other thing worth pointing out that Rodgers' reputation (or lack of thereof) doesn't help matter either. If you were to get Klopp for example, things would likely improve - people were coming to Dortmund just to work with him.

Cant see FFP doing that much at all in honesty... United will likely be spending close to 150mil net this summer

That is very true... Rodgers needs to build his reputation but that is becoming increasingly difficult with the current stature of Liverpool
