Give the lad a chance, the negativity from the fans will only hinder him

I'm as dumbfounded as yourself how anyone can turn this into a negative signing; but that said if Ings himself is 'hindered' by it then he's the wrong type of character in the first place.

Not many characters can overcome a fanbase having no faith in them from the start.. Not saying that is happening but there are a lot of confidence players out there

Well if that were to be the case, and I'm have no clue how strong of a character Ings is mentally or not; but if it were the case then we didn't do our homework at all.

Im sure Ings could only get better, plus Henderson faced a lot of negativity from our fans and it made him into the player he is today. I suppose it could go both ways

This made me chuckle, the transfer market is anything but rational. Every club pays the price what they believe that a player is worth to their team how the **** is that rational :P

I believe they mean rational as in possible to predict. The 80% correlation between estimates and actual fees reflect that.

he did refuse to take a vital penalty kick, which isnt a good sign that he can take the pressure.

Someone help me out here with Ings.

I get the reticence to Milner. £ 100 K plus a week on a guy who not only turns 30 through next year but who doesn't bring consistent difference making ability to the table, Very good all round player and an excellent pro, but very similar to what we already have. I'm far from ****** at that pickup, but I share some of the same reservations. I get that.

I get people screaming '**** NO!' to Benteke who is nothing like a £30 million plus footballer. All power and little else. I totally get that.

But the Ings negativity I don't get. Young. English. Goalscorer. Next to nothing price and salary in today's silly money game. Gives striker depth we don't possess and a serious threat off the bench. Something else we have zilch of. And still at an age where he can be moulded to our way of doing things and (hopefully) continue to improve with better coaching.

Is it because he's not a big name? The relative lack of top flight experience? The club he's come from? Just what is the big issue with this one?

Someone, please, help me out because as much as I try to see all sides on this, I can't reason with the negativity.

To be honest. I'm delighted to see Ings and Milner join. They've fight in them and I think we need that.

All the negativity: I think Liverpool fans have started to complain a lot. It gives them a sense of control so if/when things go wrong, they can say "Well, I never liked him anyway." The lack of support I've seen this season has been shocking :(

you answered the question yourself, if he was called ingsinho you woulnt get this much backlash.

You mentioned, is it because he is not a big name... If Ings was a brazillian player named 'Ingsinho' people's perceptions would be different

Ah, right. I see what he was saying. Thank you.

And that figures and was what I suspected. Big name indeed.

Modern day, Sky generation football fans. SMH.

I dont like these type of comparisons but can you imagine the outcry when Ian Rush was signed from Chester, or Sami Hyypia from Willem and smaller Finish teams if social media and fans like today were around?

Seems to be a few leaks with regards to Klopp tonight.. Suggestions that if FSG want Rodgers gone, they would prefer he resigned with BR entitled to a 9million payment if sacked

Rodgers resigning doesn't seem very likely though, does it? It's hard to imagine he was the one to recommend getting rid of Marsh and especially Pascoe, it's far easier to assume he accepted these changes in order to stay. Maybe he'd resign if FSG appointed a DoF, which they basically would have to if they wanted Klopp anyway. But that doesn't seem likely either. We still haven't heard of any changes in the transfer committee or transfer strategy, which is rather surprising considering there seems to be a consensus that the transfers weren't good enough.

I agree with all apart from the transfer strategy... The signing of Milner on his wages at his age would not have happened last season. It has not been made public but there has been some sort of change

It could very well be a one-off exception from the rule, rather than a change of rules. Until there's some sort of official news from the club or at least a trusted source, we can only speculate. If we see another signing of a player closer to 30 than 25, I'll agree there's been a change.

I'm still not convinced with the committee though, and I find it hard to believe that FSG are either. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a change of personnel, although I'd expected that to come at the same time as Marsh' and Pascoe's departure tbh.

The committee is garbage. Either let the manager have full control or at the most have A DoF assisting the process

he would be mad to resign, a 9 mill payoff no way would he let that go.
