Well there is a few more garbage sources now reporting it all... Think you can forgive Liverpool fans for getting a little excited now

That's because they copy each other. I never forgive bad sources

Ian Ayre has travelled to Chile as Liverpool close in on a £29m deal to sign Roberto Firmino.

Now the above is a journalist you can trust

@BBCSport Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign the Brazil and Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino

£30m for him is steep tbh. Also he plays where Countinho does, so one of them is getting moved wide or benched.

Surely Sterling must be close. And Rogers will have to fit them into a new formation. Can see Cou left, Firmino AMC.

Firmino makes sense for Liverpool. He can even play striker, and he somewhats reminds me of Suarez.

If you spend £30m on him and play him as a striker, BR needs a slap. Reminds me of when LVG put Di Maria up front....

The only thing I can think of is playing the 3-5-2 system with two players behind the striker

The two being Coutinho and Firmino

Yes. Yes he does.

Sorry, what was the point again? I got side tracked on the Rodgers slapping thing. :P

BREAKING! Firmino update: Liverpool agreed a €41m deal with Hoffenheim and 5-year-deal with the Brazilian forward, according to @BILD.

Seems the fee is 28.4million apparently .. Hefty outlay and perhaps a little overpriced but that's usually the way it is now

The prospect along with a new striker is quite exciting

More than a little overpriced. That would make Firmino a Bundesliga record.

The Bundesliga clubs laugh their ***** off every year over how much the PL clubs pay for their players!

He's an excellent player but plays the same position as our best player, so one will have to shift unless we play the 3-4-2-1. For that sort of money we could be buying the striker we need far more than another playmaker

Liverpool's signings so far look promising up until here. Uneasy prospect of Rodgers shoehorning Coutinho and Roberto Firmino into the same setup, not forgetting the other attackers.

Notwithstanding the fee itself. The £28.4m price tag, ooft.

Wouldn't you be inclined to invest in a defender or two now that you have Ings?

Another excellent point! Show some faith in Ibe and Markovic, similar to what happened with Sterling, give them a run in the side as attacking wingers rather than wing backs, and see what happens! Trying to fit two 25m+ AMC signings (Lallana and Firmino) in the side, likely on the wings, along with our best player Coutinho, means these two are likely to miss out a lot of the time. And that's 20m wasted in Markovic's case, and massive talent wasted for both. Give them a chance, and sign a striker! I suspect Firmino might even end up playing as a striker...
