You want to know why Man utd are light years ahead of LFC. One man is the cause of it all. David Moores. I dont even have to say anymore.

Yup. He's as culpable too for how woefully under marketed we've been.

The best of the lot was the parade the day after Istanbul, fans lined 10 deep and more outside the ground. And the frigging club shop shut as the staff were still in Turkey! The lost merchandise sales that night alone beggars belief.

You just couldn't make it up.

I wonder where Flanagan fits into all this?

He was by far our most solid defender two years back when we finished 2nd for me. All he lacks is top speed. Sound as anything in a 4 at FB. But no use at all when Rodgers plays a three.

If he ever gets fully healthy again, be interesting to see where he lies in the pecking order now.

if flanno can get back to full fitness i would have him first choice left back love the kid

1. Refusing to build a stadium during the 90s.
2. Refused to back Evans espicially getting in a defender.
3. Refused to pay up for cr7,dani alves, silva, villa etc...
4. Sold us to the Cowboys when he new well and truly that they were going to take loans out too the buy the club. But it didnt matter as long as it meant more money lining moores pocket.

Overall the guy was a leech and despicable man who was more intrested in using the club to line his pockets rather than drag the club into the 21st century. He is probably the biggest cause for our downfall.

The stadium ones always a tricky subject. We never had the money to outright fund a new one with the ridiculous building costs in this Country. I was always in favour of a shared new ground with Everton when Robinson first floated that idea the '80's to cut costs. The majority where naturally totally against it ('We'll never share with those bitter blue c****! etc etc); but it always made perfect sense to me if that was the only way to get a new ground and maximise our potential week on week. I could of swallowed a ground share with the benefits far outweighing local rivalry. But that was never going to get off the ground sadly. So it wasn't so much he refused as we just didn't have the resources.

To be fair, he was never slow in backing successive managers financially. Souness went through a lot, and Evo and then Houllier and Benetiz spent heftily. Evans spent big on Babb, Scales, McAteer and Ince among others, and broke our record for Stan. Can't agree that Moores didn't fully back his managers in the transfer market. If anything he gave managers too much free reign to go spend. Often not very wisely.

Yeah, we lost out on some big names under Evans early who wanted to join. But that was mainly due to all the money Souness had blown through. All relative.

Now the last one is the biggie I'm 100% with you on. For someone that pertained to 'love' the club so much, to be so hoodwinked by those two charlatans and put the club into so much financial strife that we almost went the way of Leeds and receivership before FSG stepped in (the very same day); all to make a quick sale and as much as he could make out of it I'll never forgive him for.

I think his heart was in the right place and he tried to do the right thing through most of his time as chairman. But he was never remotely as strong or savvy a businessman as his father and nowhere near the Chairman Sir John Smith was.

Bony and Lukaku cost £28 million each, Benteke same type of player,

sad thing is it's the going rate these days, even if it is overpriced.

We're not the only teams overpaying for players.

Overpaying can be expected in this market, but you're overpaying for a very average player who doesn't suit Rodgers way of playing at all.

At Swansea he had Danny Graham who didn't either, and that worked well. Basically after three years, he's gone to trying to play how he did at Swansea...

On the plus side there's still a top Italian and a real likeable German out there in time for Christmas.

What can you say more.

It's the market rate, so it's not overpaying. Lukaku is nowhere near as gifted technically as Benteke. Benteke is also much quicker and better with his feet than Bony. Bony has averaged nearly a goal ever two games at Swansea. Benteke has scored miles more than these two.

Benteke isn't bad or anything, its just such a large sum of money for player who obviously does'nt fit the style AT ALL, it begs a question whether Rodgers has any idea what the **** he is doing.

I think it's funny that when Liverpool does decent buys as in Milner and Clyne they don't say they're Rodger's buys, but from the board, but once people think it's a flop it's all about Rodgers...

This might be controversial but does anyone feel that it is make or break for sturridge in terms of wheather he can become a consistant worldclass striker that we all know he can be. The guy is out till the end of september and wont be fully fit for another month after that. The buying of benteke and ings show that we wont rely on sturridge to be our main striker. I just feel that from listening to daniel talk about his injury that he suffers from the harry kewell mentality were he feels in his head that he is injured thus not giving 100% even thought it might just be a knock or so. Would anyone be opposed to selling him whilst his value is at its highest next summer or the summer after if benteke proves to be a hit. Just some food for thought.

Absolutely that would be my thinking. If he comes back from this one and breaks down again, then you off load him as he can't be relied upon at all and something clearly is just not right in his body makeup.

Like you say, he's a top notch talent and by far and away the best English player/ striker around (cue certain of our 'friends' to steam in and say we're overrating him just because he happens to be at Anfield ..... ); but that ain't worth a **** when he's never healthy.

Everyone I know is of the same opinion. This really is make or break for Daniel now and if he breaks down again, you have to look at moving on sadly.

Lol, in FM I Just sell him first window, because he barely lasts a game without suffering 3 month injury.

But its perfectly logical. The way it works, manager has a blocking vote. So the only way an idiotic transfer goes through is when Rodgers backed it.
