There are a number of fair points in there, but the comparison to a Houllier squad is unfair. Benteke, Lallana, Firmino are all much better than that. It's not that you have a complete dearth of talent, it's just that Rodgers can't use it correctly. You remind me a lot of watching Belgium tbh.

I agree, the direct comparison between those players didn't convince me at all. But in my opinion, Benteke still doesn't strike me as the type of player who should be spearheading attacks. He's a very good player, sure, but I'm just not convinced he belongs at Liverpool. As for Lallana, I find him massively overrated. I haven't seen much of Firmino before he came to Liverpool, but what I've seen so far hasn't impressed me. But that could of course be down to the way Rodgers fits him into the team.

it's strange because I read something the other day stating he had little control over transfers at Dortmund... I have literally no idea how true this is though...

It's bang on. That's because he has 100% confidence in Zorc, he was his "other half". It's not about having control, but having confidence in the person in control

Honestly I don't think Klopp will go to Bayern. I feel like he has too much of a love for Dortmund and their fans to do that to them.

Klopp and Ancelotti seem to be the main two top-tier managers who people want and are linking us to, very speculatively in the case of Ancelotti, but what about Frank De Boer or Marcelo Bielsa? Not sure about Bielsa's availability, he might not be interested, and apart from that he's considered a bit eccentric, but I'm pretty sure De Boer would be.

Bielsa would be terrible. Not a bad manager by any means, but not what we need.

Problem with Klopp is that we'd keep Ian ******* Ayre buying our players, and he's pretty wank.

I'd hope if Klopp came in he'd want to bring in a DOF of his choice, surely? I doubt he'd agree to the job otherwise, so that might be why FSG haven't gone for him as of yet

This is a long shot in the dark but it would be very interesting to see someone like Diego Simeone in the EPL. I actually hope Chelsea get him when/if we sack Mourinho

Also AVB will be available in the summer for whatever that's worth ...

But FSG initially wanted Rodgers to work under a DoF, so I don't think they're necessarily against the idea. The problem is that we didn't go for Klopp this summer. IMO, it's probably too late now. I'm convinced we'll see another mediocre season, with Rodgers either getting sacked around Christmas or at the end of the season.

I 100% want Simeone as our next manager. He's looking unlikely to leave Atletico though, and he certainly wouldn't leave them for Liverpool.

I agree, I don't think they're against the idea, it just seems to me unlikely that they'll want to dismantle the transfer committee and appoint a DOF, especially as it would be the incoming manager's personal choice (you'd think). I can't see them sacking Ian Ayre

Its obvious that you're struggling to secure your targets, so you're just grabing whatever's available whether it fits the team or not. This is precisely why not sacking Rodgers was so moronic. The man can have the talent to be next Fabio Capello for all I care, but it doesn't matter one bit if he can't get the players he needs.

Klopp would triple your pull on the transfer market because players would trip over each other just for a chance to work with him.

I actually don't mind the side tonight.. And four youngsters on the bench - Sakho Captain.

Confirmed #LFC team v Bordeaux: Mignolet, Gomez, Toure, Sakho, Ibe, Rossiter, Can, Moreno, Lallana, Coutinho, Origi.

Confirmed #LFC subs: Bogdan, Firmino, Ings, Brannagan, Randall, Cleary, Chirivella.

Ian Ayre doesn't choose who to buy. He just sorts out the business end of transfers.

Was about to say LFC are one of the few clubs in the PL with no DOF. A dof is not involved with contracts etc... He just works with the manager in identifying players and imposes how they play etc... Ayre does not do this.

Looks like it's Ibe's turn to be a wingback...
You sure it isn't Gomez on right and Moreno on the left? Something like this

.................Origi.................
..Lallana....Coutinho....Ibe.....
...........Rossiter..Can............
Moreno..Sakho..Toure..Gomez
................Mings.................

All the line-ups pre-match were 3 at the back so I would be surprised

Good build up to the shot.
Should have been on target from there.
