Bah did 1-0 and 2-0 sturridge first scorer got the match on in the background whilst watching Boardwalk empire and noticed he ain't starting bah

FFS Liverpool, exactly what I warned about before. You've done so much of the hard work too.

After spending the whole game getting ****** of with the commentators saying Firmino is playing too deep, Liverpool need a proper striker on, 2 mins after that happens, Villareal score.

Moreno makes me sick. Were the **** was he. Its the last min keep it tight he is too busy trying to play striker. Brain dead literally brain dead. Even when he was one on one he could have squared it for Ibe but no. FFS.

If anyone's to blame it has to be Klopp this time. The lineup was questionable when Sturridge is fit and in form. But to not bring him on at all, and wait until the last minutes to put Benteke on was simply wrong. It felt like we were playing for the draw, and in that regard we got what we deserved. On the goal Kolo reminded me of Sakho on Dortmund's second goal, the flashbacks were real.

Klopp came for the draw nothing wrong in that. Kolo cannot be blamed because he has to cover for Moreno who has gone walkabout in the last min. If anything Kolo was our MOTM he was immense at times, kept Bukambu quiet for majority of the game.

I have to disagree with that, especially considering how the game unfolded. We had plenty of crosses into the box but no one to get on the end of them. If you wanna sub in Benteke, do it earlier. The game was there to be won, we were defensively sound the entire game apart from the last minute. But considering we had no one running in behind their defense, I'd have like to see Sturridge on, if not in the starting lineup. He's in form, he's fit. Use him. Playing for the draw with no real striker wasn't a good decision, and I'm convinced Origi would have started if he was fit. How Lallana stayed on for the entire game I'll never know, and why Ibe was chosen ahead of Sturridge baffles me.

Also I'd rate both Lovren and Lucas ahead of Kolo tonight. Lovren is looking consistent and confident, didn't set a foot wrong. I lost count on how many interceptions Lucas had, he gave almost no space away.

Agree with you on Lovren and Lucas, who was doing the job of two men in midfield due to the positional sense of his midfield partners. Kolo just edges it for me because he is performing at such a high level for a 35 yr old. Firmino would have worked if coutinho has stayed on as his movement and interchanging would have pulled their CB apart. Lallana works hard, but he is not a one touch footbal player which meant firmino was isolated against 2 inform CB which was probably the reason why he kept coming so deep. The game was crying out for Sturridge but still all to play for in the 2nd leg.

Poor to concede so late and to a sloppy goal, but I honestly never really felt troubled throughout the game.

What i took from that is Villarreal are a very average side - Well organised and have got a few good players, but very much beatable. The only problem now is not getting that away goal.

Barring the subs, I think Klopp started correctly, but Sturridge HAD TO come on.

All of this without Sakho, Can, Coutinho, Henderson and Origi not to forget

Everything made sense until the 80th minute and we didn't see Sturridge warming up.

Villarreal are anything but average...

Let's not forget that we're playing without Sakho,Can,Henderson, Origi and half of Coutinho.

Yeah agreed, they are just running out of steam a bit and are in a bit of a rough patch 2nd or 3rd win in 12 last night IIRC. Last night probably not a true reflection although I personally though they gave a decent account of themselves even though I was only half watching. Seemed decent passing and movement just lacked that cutting edge but I think Soldado is going through one of his barren spells too.

Edit - maybe I have Villareals recent form mixed up with Soldado's recent form will check.

Edit 2 just checked won 6 of the last 12, could have sworn I saw something that said they had won 1 in last 11. I dunno anyway they are a good outfit nonetheless

Edit 3 Soldado has 1 in 12 I must have read that in a pre match thing and had a brain fart. Apologies.

They looked very average last night. We should have took advantage of that.

I think what is happening or rather starting to happen is that teams are figuring out Pools style a bit. This is probably down to Klopp not having the personnel he wants or whatever. Ive caught a couple of games recently anyway I mean you guys will know more than I.

But what it looks like to me is your set piece frailties aside is that opening 20 or so you are playing at such a tempo teams are just trying to close up then once the tempo drops because of either fitness or personnel teams are trying to lure you onto them and then once Moreno/Clyne start pushing too far on and are lacking in stamina the are looking for the breakaway and its leaving you exposed. Admittedly I have only half watched your last 3 games but given the complaints on clyne/moreno and what I have seen if I was opposition manager that would be my gameplan. Its all about getting through the opening storm.

Edit - dunno what you pool fans think or anyone else for that matter just my take on half watching last few matches.
