Good bye. Good riddance!: Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel set to seal £5.5million move to Fenerbahce - Liverpool Echo

I've NEVER gotten the cult hero status with this clown. He's been here 9 years and the only two remotely decent seasons he's had have been in contract years. The very definition of mediocrity that has somehow been a first team regular over the majority of the duration through 4 different managers, including Rafa and Kenny, and 319 games. The worst ever player in our history to somehow reach that millstone for me. He's sharing the 300 club with the likes of Kevin Keegan (323), Terry McDermot (329), Mark Lawrenson (356), Alan Kennedy and Graeme Souness (359), Steve McManaman (364), Robbie Fowler (369) ..... The list goes on. And then there's the braindead, kamikaze lump that is Martin Skrtel.

I should be thanking him for the service. But as I can count on two hands the real good memories, I'm just happy that the fifth manager he's had has finally seen through him and we don't have to suffer his idiocy any more.

I dont see Skrtel as being that bad or even mediocre. He wasent very good but still, he was first team for a reason. You need someone rough, someone who is more aggressive and will put his body on the line. Often or not you see teams that are missing that guy. He was that guy for you and that why is held highly I think.

And now that guy will be Sakho. But even better, as he has skill and better mentality for him.

Good point. They'll be nobody to teach our young defenders his patented judo hip throw and how to look totally innocent and pray for the best every time you do it. Often in your own penalty area.

Maybe they'll be an opening for Tezzz now? He's into all the MMA stuff.

A Liverpool match just won't be the same without someone throwing down an opposition attacker in the area. Although I do believe everyone's blood pressure may well go down as a result.

There was a point with Skrtel were he looked like he could develop in to a top class near post aggressive type defender but then he just turned into a foul machine and in turn an absolute liability because he became too aggresive in his defending. By that I dont mean fouling I mean coming out of shape to clear the ball or whatever.

To be fair to him, it's to successive coaching staffs detriments that they've not picked up on his basic, fundamental flaws that most everyone else can see. You aren't going to correct them at his current age, but when they happen over and over it begs the question why they've not been rectified a LONG time back? But then before Klopp and his guys arrived, you were often left wondering if we did ANY defensive work the training ground.

Yeah I wish him all the best but he's been a bit of a liability over the years*. He loved to come out of position and dive in for a slide tackle. If he makes it fair enough it looks good, but when he didn't we were so out of shape at the back.

edit; typo

I love that we have the option to finish early to watch the England game.

Yet nobody's allowed out early when L'pool or Everton play ..... F that. Cheeky twats.

Tranmere tickets have arrived. Row C !!

You'd love a Euro away. Basically stand where you want. Always amusing when someone actually try's to sit in the seat on their ticket.

But anyway, get in NI in the rain in Lyon!

No Zielinski again then for the second straight game. From qualifying regular to nothing.

Frustrating. Really want to see our new Pole in a game.

And Gotze **** poor again. But saying that, Muller is bonafide World Class and he's been totally anonymous for two straight games. Germany just not firing ..... Yet.

Yeah, seems we're set on playing with two midfield destroyers for the time being. Not that I'm complaining as it's obviously working. He might not play at all the way things are going, unless we need to chase the score.

Because he's 49 today and because this is why we love the crazy German so much:

I like #2 best. Anyone not from Liverpool would be like 'huh?' Anyone from Liverpool is like 'Is rite Jurgie lad. Fella's a proper Scouser now like!'

Don't know if you bother with the member packs that get sent out but there was quite a bit about the new stand when I flicked through before. Will look at it properly later on.

Also re-activating my brothers member card. He's on the old card system so I'll need to ring up and get a new one sent out. The daft **** doesn't know his password or anything so I'm going to be on the phone to customer service all night.
