After the name of the tune we sang "Gerard, gerard houllier. Gerard, gerard houllier..."

Know the original song mate? We played it a couple of times before the EL games Dortmund and Villareal if I remember correctly.

****. Pet Shop Boys hit cover of a Village People song. Minds gone blank.

*Edit* Go West!

Personally loved 'Allez Allez, Allez Allez, Gerard Houllier!' ('Hou let the reds out' was *****, lol. Corny, but *****.).

He was a crank. But he was our crank God love him! Completely dragged the club into the 21st Century and the modern game.

And gave me the best week of my footballing life the last week the second treble winning season 2001 Cardiff, Dortmund, Charlton to win the FA and UEFA Cup and clinch the top 3 spot and Champions League spot the league. It was literally travel, bevvy, match, win, celebrate with more ale, home, sleep; travel, bevvy, match, win, celebrate with **** more bevvy's, home, sleep; travel, bevvy, match, win, celebrate with even more bevvy's, home; sleep for a week to recuperate lol.

Utterly mad and utterly brilliant that 2000-01 season. Still ****** at him over Robbie like, but a **** of a lot more to be thankful to the crazy Frenchman for.

It's £34m rising to £36m but it's happening, good signing. Brings some proper width to Liverpool.

Yeah, just reading reports down South saying those figures.

And completely agree as we have previously the United thread of Mane. I don't get the backlash on social media in particular to this one? (Aside from it's social media and everyone loses their head on there.). Perfect fit for us IMHO and exactly what we need up there. Quick, two footed, can play all across the attacking midfield three. Scores, creates. Yeah, needs to be more consistent but at least he's proven the PL over his two years so no fears there and hopefully Klopp will get that consistency out of him.

The pace to get in behind has been sadly lacking outside of Divock. Well made up with this pickup.

Shifting expectations, many Liverpool fans dreamed of Reus and Mhkitaryan. In their minds it's a step down, which is true, but he's still excellent

They'd of had Gotze to drool over if he wasn't such a stubborn ***.

The only downside with Mane, and it's not really that much of a downside all things considered, is we'll lose him along with Matip possibly through January/ early February every two years with the African Cup of Nations.

Gotze is a top player but Mane suits us better. Melissa Reddy wrote this:

Exactly. You don't need Gotze, you do need Mane

Not to mention prices this summer will be crazy. I mean West Ham are seemingly intent on splashing 35mil+ on a striker.

Perhaps we paid a little too much, but a front four of Coutinho - Firmino - Mane - Sturridge is very dangerous.

Throw in Divock's pace, the way Lallana improved massively as last season went on, along with the returning Ings and the attacking options are very interchangeable and exciting.

Attacking wise we are almost set - lot of variety and some decent options off the bench when everyone is fit.

I would be more than happy if we finished our business with a new LB (Hector ideally, but rumours of Bertrand again wouldn't be bad at all) and a CM who could partner Can

Well by all accounts Zielinski will be boxed off as soon as Poland are out the Euro's and there is Grujic added already so he's obviously looking that way.

Great to see we're adding a sell on and buy back clause to the pending Canos sale too. If the greedy little **** does keep on developing, it covers all options which isn't before time we've wised up in this regard.

Also a fantastic bonus that Mane, and the two Brazilians, along with Ings, will be back right at the start of this real important pre-season this week.

Along with Karius, Lovren, Sakho and Grujic, aside from the likes of Flanno and Lucas, that's a good percentage of key, experienced players back from the get go.

If the main targets come in, I'm quite exited to see United and Liverpool next season
