I think if I were a Leipzig fan I'd be getting more than a tad sick of him in the media TBH. Unusually for a German, he needs an education on when and when not to speak to the press. He's involved in a title race, and just got through to the quarter-finals of the European Cup tonight. And all his focus seems to be on is openly flirting non-stop with L'pool! To now seemingly trying to play L'pool and Utd off against each other for a bigger salary.

I don't happen to think we're that interested anyway. (I don't know. Just an educated guess as the 'flirtings' been all one/ here's been absolutely nottin out of L'pool/ RBL openly say they've had no contact from us And since the initial van Dijk fiasco, which ended up costing us another £20 million, the club has gone proper old school on their dealings with next to nothing coming out. And when they do feed anything, it's usually part of a smoke and mirrors game and they're actually after someone the media has no clue over.). But if we are, then he's going the right way around talking himself, literally, out of a move. We value character and the person before the player in many respects along with them being the right footballing fit. And he's coming across as a 'me first' player and not a 'team-first' one. Which just doesn't fly under Klopp.

I mean skill-set wise, he ticks all the boxes to come in for any of the front three without a big drop-off. And the rumoured release clause makes him great value.

But he's certainly not endearing himself to me as a person for whatever that's worth. I think he's being pretty disrespectful to Leipzig to be honest and I'm finding the whole affair tiresome.

That's just my gut take on it for what it's worth and the impression I get of Werner. I know as much as the next man. Nothing.

Pretty much my thoughts tbh. I think he would be perfect for you guys and possibly us. But I think don’t think we are all that interested either tbh. We seem to have all our attacking eggs in getting Grealish and Sancho. Like you said think he’s playing a wage game playing both clubs. Tbh I don’t think he’s on a level as your front 3 which is arguably the best in Europe!
 
Weird emotion this.

I mean on the one hand, you're sat buzzing waiting to get up the ground for another real special Anfield European night.

On the other, it's really tempered by not knowing when our next European game will be after this and what UEFA are going to do with the rest of this season's competition as the pandemic get's worse by the passing day across the Continent. I'd normally have had an interest in last nights games but it's just been a 'meh' as the chances of being allowed to travel the next round are the slim side of slim. Next Friday's draw, for someone that lives for the excitement of those things and finding out what trip you're going on, is hardly registering with me right now.

Weird, conflicting emotions at present.

But let's get Madrid put to bed first and what will be after that will be.

Wow that was genuinely one of the best halves of football I've ever seen. Breakneck pace, both teams fighting for every ball showcaing breathtaking ability to play quick and with precision in tight spaces.

This is what ****** me off about Atletico. They have top quality players who can play good football but Simeone seems hellbent on being remembered as the most defensive coach in the history of Sport. Let them play ffs!

I really dislike Simeone for that. He has amazing players, yet he drills them to play like they're 3 divisions down on their opponent. Like someone said, Joao Felix is the most expensive defender in the history.

You put someone like Nainglesmann I charge of Felix, Saul, Koke, Partey, Lemar, Carrasco, Costa, Correa, Gimenez, Oblak etc he would be giving the big 2 a run for there money in Spain

We ran them ragged tbh and with a bit of luck wouldve won in 90mins. We know Adrian had a clanger in him but he won us the Supercup meh. Got dealt a smash n grab tonight but you cant win them all.

Yup, you can see they can play very intricate technical football if they actually try, but Simeone has them parking the double bus instead. Still, it worked today.

Anyhow, was a great game of fotoball, though I would say Atletico fully deserved to go through. First game they were a better team, today Liverpool looked dominant but 1st goal was an Adrian error and for next two goals the defense got outplayed 2 vs 4 and 2 vs. 6

You can play the pretiest football around, but you don't go through if you make so many mistakes.

Which is the problem they have. His style of play is hard to get the players up for during a normal league game. But big cup comps like this they his team is made for.

Chasing a goal and a high line will do that to you. Game shodve been over once we scored the second. The only way they were going to score tonight was a mistake. Which happened unfortunately.

After Firmino scored that should of been it. But you over committed imo and left yourselves open at the back. Yes the mistake didn’t help also

Well obviously you have to over commit if you're chasing an aggregate lead. Like I said imo we played the perfect game for 90mins and we're unlucky to go out. They created nothing and only scored of a mistake. Smash n grab of the highest order now lets hope they dont cancel the season as no football for the next two months is rather depressing.
 
Morata substitution changed the game. Before he came Atletico forwards were just being bullied, but you couldn't deal with Morata's pace and physicality as easy.
