NY’s day games are normally boring, tedious affairs. The players are goosed from the mad Chrimbo programme. The crowd is generally totally flat after the same and the Christmas excess. Nobody really wants one. But they are what they are and tradition. As testified by 4 really dull, monotonous sounding draws yesterday evening the PL. But man alive, L’pool-Leeds was exceptionally abysmal. Both managers, all 22 players and all the subs, and the disgrace in black the middle, served up one of the worst games I’ve attended in what must be over a decade. And L’pool didn’t even have the excuse of being on their last legs through the Christmas programme as the games have been well spaced out!

All on what was a baltic cold night. Should have known what was in store when their was a 20 minute or so wait the boozer at half 12 as the gas wasn’t coming through for the Guinness. Followed by the absolute farce going in of some steward swiping everyone, and no sound on his wand. Only for a head steward to come over and ask if it was working. ‘Yeah mate’ as he let more through. ‘Let’s have a look’ ….. only to discover he hadn’t even turned it on! 🤦‍♂️Just compounding the unnecessary. box ticking nonsense that is this farce. You couldn’t make it up …… ‘Everyone back out! Turns out this bleep never even powered up his tools!’ Let’s do you again!’ 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤣🤣

Every game through this 8 game run there’s been positives to take as things turn and this ship is righted. Save for both CH’s being rock solid and Leeds being no scoring threat, I’m struggling to take anything positive out of that garbage last night. Against a promoted side. At Anfield.

Absolutely abysmal start to the NY.

Onto Fulham and a mad travel week to London. The joys.

Up Arne’s Reds.

Really looking forward to Fulham.

That other brilliant area of West London, Brentford, aside, the single best away of every season. We could put 5 past Arsenal Thursday, and we won't have as good a time as we will tomorrow regardless of the result. Boss location. Boss boozers and restaurants. Boss, traditional ground. Boss, super friendly supporters just in it to support there team. With no low life tragedy chanting/ chanting about social deprivation/ food poverty et al. The polar opposite to most of the cretins you'll encounter Thursday at the generic, soulless Emirates.

Just a pity it's not like last year with warm, sunny weather to bask out on the banks of the Thames with the walk through the park.

Leeds was the outlier to what has been some much improved performances from the dip before this run. With a lot of positives to take, among the natural negatives that still need correcting, as they slowly build this back up.

Certainly gives you far more confidence to take into this big London week of extending our unbeaten run, to the longest it's been all season, than it did looking at the NY back in November.
