Having achieved all I could at Anfield, I decided to start a new game at Luton Town as I felt it was the hardest challenge in the football league.

It was that sunny day on July 1st where the Luton board officially announced the arrival of Alex Whitehouse after the resignation of the former manager. In his first press conference he confirmed that he was delighted to take up the opportunity and told the gathering press that changes would be made at Kenilworth road.

He told the board that his pre-season expectations would be to attempt to avoid relegation, with the idea that next season would be the season that this once proud club would make a promotion push, and that anything better would be an achievement. Having informed the board of his expectations, he was told that his transfer budget was unfortunately £0 and his wage bill was a lowly £31k. Straight away, he knew that changes would have to be made with both the selling of players and the wheeling and dealing of some bargains and loan signings with the hope of a possible parent club as well.
To Be Updated with transfers and friendlies.

i got arsenal as my parent club with arsenal b4, they sent me Murphy and merida, they are both quality

How did you do in your game?

Having requested a parent club in the hope that he would get a few gems on loan, he was fortunate enough to get Arsenal. And sure enough Arsenal planned a couple of loans between the two clubs. The first player was Henri Lansbury and the second was Francis Coquelin. However none of these loans came into fruition because Luton's muppet of a previous manager decided to bring in a few injured players on loan so the club had reached the limit of loan signings of players under 23years of age.

So moving on, having brought in Seyfo Soley for free and Lukas Jutkiewicz and James Chester on loan from Everton and Man Utd respectively.. Luton headed into their pre-season friendlies with little, if any, hope. Having left the friendlies to his idiot of an assistant manager, he decided to make a hash of the following matches:
Blackpool 4-0 Luton Town
Luton Town 2-2 Tottenham Reserves (Not too bad) Jutkiewicz, Craddock
Luton Town 0-0 Plymouth Argyle
Luton Town 0-2 Southampton
Having assessed the pre-season fixtures, it was a mixed bag of results. Apart from the Blackpool mauling we weren't embarrassed so there is one positive. However if we want to stave away the threat of relegation, we need to improve.
Before the season started, we brought in a few more signings which the Luton board and the manager felt would improve the squad:
Peter Gilbert £0
O'Leary £0
We went into the league season with odds of 40/1, so relegation was a serious possibility according to the bookmakers. And also the media with a media prediction of 24th. The season would be a miserable one according to everyone apart from the Luton Town faithful. Would this season be one of miracles or one to forget?
August league results to be posted shortly.

I got touted at 300-1 the league and Im sitting top means nothing.

You didn't have a 30 point deduction ;)

The August results are as follows:
Lincoln City 5-3 Luton Town In a high scoring game, where defense wasn't the focus defensive errors culminated in our own downfall. (Gallen, Chester, O.G)

Luton Town 0-4 Watford(Lge cup)Not a game to remember for the Luton die hards as bad referring decisions cost us big time. After the game Whitehouse blamed the officials for being blinded by Watford's 'big guns' after the referee awarded 4 penalties to Watford.

Luton Town 3-2 Bournemouth Having gone down to 10 men after 22 minutes, I immediately thought 'Oh jesus christ not again!' So my optimism wasn't at its highest. But my team showed great character coming from 2-1 down gain a valuable 3 points. Life isn'st so bad after all, until the next game anyway. (Craddock, Parkin, Hall)

Chester 1-0 Luton Town Shambles. The term 'Couldn't hit a cows **** with a banjo' springs to mind. All i can say is its a good job this wasn't infront of the sky cameras because we would never be allowed on TV again based on this performance.

Luton Town 1-0 Bury Town Waay its another win! Safe to say we aren't going to be the most memorable team to watch this season. (Gallen)

Not the best of months, but things are slowly looking up.
League pos: 24th
Without deduction: 10th

September results to come shortly with screenshots.

Lol. Good read so far mate, keep it up. Oh yeah and Good Luck you need it.

Here we go! September results time...
Yeovil 1-1(4-5p) Luton Town Im not quite sure how we managed this, not even Mystic Meg could have predicted this outcome. Things looking up? (Henderson)

Darlington 1-0 Luton Town A complete injustice, we did more than enough to win this match but unfortunately the footballing gods weren't looking down on us.

Luton Town 2-1 A.Stanley Well after this result and performance, im not suprised that Accrington Stanley were in the conference for so long! They were truly awful and 2-1 flattered them big time. (Parkin, Gallen)

Luton Town 1-0 Brentford Are we slowly hitting a bit of form? All i can say is that it was an even match and we only won because their keeper decided to have a Fabian Barthez moment just standing with the ball patiently waiting for the weary legs of Sam Parkin to steal the ball of him. (Parkin)

Exeter City 2-1 Luton Town The answer to the above rhetorical question is 'NO'. How we lost this game i'll nevr know. We were 1-0 up with 20 to play and should of been out of sight. Its a shame my strikers can't hit a barn door. Well at least i know now what to go for in the January transfer window.
(Nicholls)

Not a bad month to be honest. Luton have seen worse days
League position: 24th
Without deduction: 10th
I thought we hd seemed to turned a corner, how wrong i was.
October results shortly. With screenshots of the league table, results so far and squad.

good luck mate, you need it. keep us posted and its interesting to see where your team would be without the points deduction. Keep it going;)

Here we go with Octobers results:
Luton Town 1-1 Port Vale There isnt really a lot to say about this game. It was the worst 1-1 draw I've had the displeasure of managing. (Jutkiewicz)

MK Dons 1-1(4-3p) Luton Town (JPT) We couldn't really of got off to a worse start after going behind after 1.35. However we showed fighting spirit and were unfortunate enough to go out on penalties :( Thats our cup run over. (Hall)

Morecambe 2-1 Luton Town Again its a useless start going behind after a few minutes and again I felt we didn't deserve to lose. I have established many times now that our attack is fricking useless. (Parkin)

Luton Town 1-0 Grimsby In all honesty we were extremely lucky to get something out of this and deserved to get mauled. But again it was a shocking, shocking match. (Parkin)

Barnet 2-2 Luton Town This really was a game for the fans! And now we are only 2 points from Bournemouth with the hope we'll be out of the relegation zone by mid January-mid February. (Parkin, Craddock)

Luton Town 4-2 Gillingham This was a brilliant match and we seem to have turned a corner. Still unfortunately 2 points from Bournemouth because they won but its game on!!! And Parkin for player of the year!(Craddock 2, Parkin, Gallen)

League Position: 24th
Without deduction: 10th

Now I have decided to call it a day and stop for the night. I shall update the story tomorrow at some point.

---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was yesterday at 10:37 PM ----------

Now we move on to the horrid month of November:
Aldershot 0-0 Luton Town ****, basically this was a game which shaped the long month ahead.

Chesterfield 0-0 Luton Town ^^^

Altrincham 0-0 Luton Town(FA Cup) ^^^

Luton Town 2-3 Bradford We put in a very good performance but only when the game was out of our hands at 3-0 down. (Gallen, O.G)

Luton Town 2-0 Altrincham(FA Cup) After our recent form, i was very happy with this result as hopefully it will get us back on track. (Parkin, Gallen)

Luton Town 1-1 Shrewsbury Normally I doubt my players would be able to get through 3 games in a month, let alone 3 games in a week. And fatigue is what I am blaming for this lacklustre performance. (Hall)

Notts County 1-1 Luton Town Again another boring boring game which we should have won. Oh well things are slowly looking up. (Jutkiewicz)

Luton Town 0-0 Lincoln City ****. Not a game for the fans and the sooner its out of the memories, the better.

November wasnt a good month and the one positive we can take from it is that its now over.
League Position: 24th
Without Deduction 12th
Bring on December! Hopefully we'll be 23rd by then.

---------- Post added at 02:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:45 PM ----------

I'd also like to hear about anyone else's Luton attempts. .

---------- Post added at 03:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 PM ----------

Right I can understand it can be quite difficult and boring to read these mini-essays of match eports so now ill just state the monthly results, scorers and a brief overview of the month at the end. So lets crack on with Decembers scores:
Luton Town 1-0 Rochdale (Nicholls)
Lincoln City 0-2 Luton Town (Gallen, Craddock)
Wycombe 5-0 Luton Town
Luton Town 4-2 Macclesfield (Craddock 2, Nicholls 2)
Dagenham&Redbridge 4-1 Luton Town (Gallen)
Luton Town 0-1 Rotherham

League Position: 23rd
Without Deduction: 12th
Not a bad month, there have been better but there have been worse. The FA cup 2nd round was a joy to behold but the following week was one to forgot. All in all league result have seen us move to 1 point and up to 23rd, only 11 points behind Macclesfield and I can see us being out of the relegation zone within the next 12-13 matches.
January results to be posted with screenshots.

Good to see your season is being quite successful. Keep up the good work. :D

Ill start doing the 'mini essays' again shortly lol. In a bit of trouble atm though. Lets hope that'll change.

In my Shrewsbury game Luton finished 17th quite comfortably so keeping them up shouldnt be that much of a challenge, but fair play for giving it a go yourself ;)

January: January proved to be another mixed month...
Luton Town 1-2 QPR(FA Cup) (Henderson)
Luton Town 1-1 Lincoln (Jutkiewicz)
Bournemouth 2-2 Luton Town (Craddock, Jutkiewicz)
Luton Town 2-2 Chester (Soley, Hall)
Bury Town 3-1 Luton Town (Jutkiewicz)
A.Stanley 5-0 Luton Town
Luton Town 1-0 Darlington (Jutkiewicz)

League Position: 23rd
Without deduction: 13th
Again another extremely mixed month, one which included my darkest hour as Luton manager, the 5-0 defeat to those clowns from Accrington. But we gave a good account of ourselves against QPR in the third round of the FA Cup, January has seen us stay 23rd and go 9 points behind Macclesfield. A screenshot of the league table is here...
February results to be posted shortly...
Match reports will be included again from February.

At least you're still progressing, albeit one step forward one step back. It looks like you need to tighten up more at the back. Have you considered changing your tactics to combat this?

Yea im considering making my tactic a bit more defensive, but ill give it a couple more matches and have the mentality a tad more defensive however il stick with this for 2/3 games.

I would seriously consider JP Woody's Brian Clough tactics. I was struggling with conceding a lot of goals, 1-1 draws that kind of thing. Since I implemented it, my team is dominating the opposition, not conceding many and generally playing so much better. I'm playing in League 1, so I imagine the tactic would be pretty effective in League 2. Just a thought
