The Manchester United Thread

But honestly on your point even if it was slightly tongue in cheek i don't think we'll get bale or pogba or reus.

Hummels perhaps and strootman most likely.

i dont think ye will either was just taken the **** out of some utd fans who actually believe that ye will sign some of those players

No one should get shot down for having opinions! Everyones are different and each to there own. When Europe starts teams like Pool and Arsenal will have blips as will Saints. I just think we will be more consistent and play better 2nd half of season.

But I thought according to Carrick, playing in Europe makes the team more consistent and stable???

If this rumour of £40-50 million + De Gea for Bale came to fruition, would you be happy?

Realistically De Gea would be off eventually anyway. Bale would have already had his foreign experience and therefore we'd likely have him until we decided to get rid as nobody would be able to take him off us without it being a step down.

On the other hand, it's so much harder to find/sign a world class goalkeeper than it is to sign a top winger. We'd be in big trouble long-term if we lost De Gea.

I wouldn't want the deal to happen but I think it would make sense considering Valdes is a short-term option. What's the rest of your opinions?

Would be strange, not sure i've ever gotten hard and cried at the same time.

No.

Next.

Why realistically is De Gea off?

It also wouldnt make sense if Valdes is the short term option, because then you're shafted

Bale at his best playing in an exciting team would be outstanding but we're boring and uninspiring to watch so just keep De Gea and he has won us a ton of points and will until the end of the season.

No. No way. I'd rather have de Gea in goal than than have Bale terrorizing defenders, hands down.

No chance for me but if DDG ever did leave and this deal somehow went through :( We should go all out for Lloris or Bernd Leno this guy is really turning into a top GK in the Bundesligue. BUT WE MUST KEEP DDG!!!!!!!!!!:)

Nope. We would come out as biggest idiots if we agree to this deal. Madrid will sign Reus for 20 Million who IMO is an upgrade on Bale. So 20 Million in the bank, better player and a world class GK.

We should go all out for Reus, pay him big wages or just look for some other wide players.

Any player we can realistically sign as GK replacement would be a big step down.

Reus injury record is dodgy as ****. Makes me wary if any club goes all out for him

His injury record is not dodgy, those 2 freak injuries was unlucky and could have happened to any player in the world.

Last 5 season out of 34 Bundesliga games he has played in 33,34,32, 32, 30. Thats a fantastic record. 161 games out of 170.

It's inevitable that he'll leave. We've known that for years. If you think otherwise you're deluded frankly. I'll be surprised if he's still here at the end of his current contract, whether he extends or not.

It would not supprise me if DDG is waiting to see if we get CL football next year. Anyone have any thoughts on this. And we wont be going for Rues imo.

Not sure on that. There are many reports that says he wants to stay and his dad want De Gea to stay at United to avoid all the unwanted attention in Spain.

Also he is a Atletico boy, so I'm not fully convinced he would sign for Madrid.

Also Madrid still plays Casillas whenever possible even when they have Navas as back up. All other big teams are set when it comes to GK position.

Barca signed 2 excellent keepers, Bayern have the best GK in the world. Not sure on PSG but I don't think he will sign for French league team.

When I said inevitable, I meant eventually. Not necessarily this or next summer.

That Atletico boy stuff is rubbish too. Real Madrid or Barcelona is the pinnacle for every Spanish player. Raul was an Atleti fan, Luke Shaw (a Chelsea fan) turned them down to sign for us, Carragher was an Everton fan, Solsksjaer was a Liverpool fan.

At the end of the day, if Real Madrid make their interest concrete he will eventually sign for them. I personally think he'll sign a new deal, stay one more year then he'll leave. But if this deal is put in front on United, I've seen reliable journalists say Van Gaal would sacrifice De Gea for Bale "in a heartbeat".

After Euro 2016 De Gea will be undisputed Spanish No.1 (if he isn't before that) and he'll sign for Real. We need to get the best possible deal for him when he leaves. Whether that's more money at a later date or less money but a world class player in return slightly earlier.

He will leave one day for sure.

Something is very common in all the players you mentioned. They never played for the club they loved, De Gea did and for years. He looks genuine to me when he says he loves Atletico Madrid. They still have his banner in the stadium. He said he will go back to Atletico one day, not sure that will happen if he joins Madrid. At least for me he looks like a player who won't sign for rivals.

I haven't read anything about Van Gaal making the deal but going by Woodward we won't be beaten by anyone for price in the transfer market and stop best players going to Spain. He can't justify that statement by selling one of the best keeper to Madrid.

Ed Woodward: "I want to stop seeing the best players going to other clubs in Spain, I want us to stand out as the best club in the world."

I don't think that works like that. If it did then players like Villa, Mata, Silva would have signed for Madrid when they were in Valencia.
