Also said that Valencia wont sell Otamendi for anything less than his release clause which is 50m euros. And Villareal will not sell Gabriel this season or next.

Hunrter also said he has heard from DDG camp he is interested in Madrid but is happy at Utd. And his reps don't understand why they left contract talks so long and still have a lot of work to do before he signs.

Unless your name is Wayne, United have this terrible policy of waiting 12-18 months or something before starting contract talks.

Along with what’s on offer to de Gea financially if he renews [which I believe he will do] is the promise from United’s most important figures – board, executives, coaching staff – that next summer’s push will be to put them on a par, quality-wise, in terms of squad depth and in terms of trophy aspirations, with Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti.

That would signify the equivalent surge forward which de Gea is now ready to take in personal, physical, psychological and professional terms. Just turned 24, for all his quite-evident excellence de Gea remains a footballer who thrives best under pressure.

The pressure of being prodded, cajoled and bullied [in a good sense] into adopting new standards by ex keeper coach Eric Steele. The pressure of impressing and winning the trust of Ferguson, particularly while being rotated with Lindegaard. The pressure of having lots of work to do during games. Perhaps even the pressure of having Victor Valdés around the training ground too.
...

The Spaniard is, if not timid, a quiet, home-loving, intensely serious and intense young man. He’s been fundamental in making sure that Ander Herrera settles in and is happy at United – the two of them and Juan Mata live within a stone’s throw of each other and they are the central core of the Spanish-society at United.

The word on the training ground is that de Gea feels aware that ‘something is beginning to happen’ at the club. That the quality of signings is rising, that van Gaal is demanding in a way which will benefit those who wish to play and train as de Gea does.

Would Real Madrid love to have him? Yes.

With Iker Casillas on a mind-blowingly good contract for several more years and no more keen to hand over to de Gea at club than at Spain level would this coming summer be the time to succumb to that temptation rather than continue to develop, thrive and earn experience in the Premier League? No, probably not. Euro 2016 is at least a winnable tournament for Spain.

If de Gea wishes to be Vicente Del Bosque’s first-choice then better to be at a club where he is [while on form] guaranteed number one rather than take the huge risk of coping with the ire from fans of the club he supports [Atletico] and locking horns with Casillas at Madrid.

In order of priority Ed Woodward needs to convince de Gea that he’s at the right club, at the right time and renew his deal. Then de Gea must emerge into the category of Manuel Neuer and Thibault Courtois and Gigi Buffon – superb keepers but team leaders, intimidating rather than being simply impressive and must become a founding stone in the successful re-building of United.

Finally, if he has not already unseated him, he must be fully ready to take over from Iker Casillas in 18 months time as Spain’s number one.

Only casillas himself will unseat him from spain, politics and all that.
I think DDG will be no1 for Spain from now on Del Bosque has played him more than Casillas since WC and a lot of people in Spanish football/media called for this. Casillas days are done imo as no1.

If this rumour of £40-50 million + De Gea for Bale came to fruition, would you be happy?

Realistically De Gea would be off eventually anyway. Bale would have already had his foreign experience and therefore we'd likely have him until we decided to get rid as nobody would be able to take him off us without it being a step down.

On the other hand, it's so much harder to find/sign a world class goalkeeper than it is to sign a top winger. We'd be in big trouble long-term if we lost De Gea.

I wouldn't want the deal to happen but I think it would make sense considering Valdes is a short-term option. What's the rest of your opinions?

Can we take Varane as well? then deal on.

DDG is going to leave and Bale is one of the best players in the world

Nope. We would come out as biggest idiots if we agree to this deal. Madrid will sign Reus for 20 Million who IMO is an upgrade on Bale. So 20 Million in the bank, better player and a world class GK.

We should go all out for Reus, pay him big wages or just look for some other wide players.

Any player we can realistically sign as GK replacement would be a big step down.

In what world is Rues better?

Valdes is an already replacement

UtdReport.com @UtdReport Follow Valencia and West Ham United will make £1.5m bids for Darren Fletcher in the next few days. [telegraph]

I do agree that there is not much difference between Bale and Reus. BUT both are different types of player not both wingers. But no way should Valdes be a replacement for DDG!

Can take that quote 2 ways I suppose.

1 way that even if Dortmund don't qualify for CL he won't be unhappy or wants out. So him leaving or staying has nothing to do with CL football.

In this world Reus is better.

Valdes as replacement for De Gea? Like I said Massive step down.

He is , though.

Bale suffers from two things in this world; Playing alongside Ronaldo, James, Kroos, Modric etc - Its hard to see how good he actually is when next to them, but the Bale at spurs was brilliant( really saw how good he was) and the funniest thing is, hes actually been better then that at Madrid, just will never look as good as someone like Ronaldo, but hey ho, who is as good.
Rues is a classic case, of someone who magically got better as he was injured and his side has done worse. Classic sports line, whilst good, he isnt Bale good. He is a significant step down.

Valdes whilst a downgrade on De Gea, Isnt the worst option possible.

Reus didn't become good once he was injured, he was always rated highly. What you are saying is for Liverpool fans when Lucas all of a sudden became best ever player when he was injured but with Reus it's just he is amazing player.

Just to clarify, are you saying that Ronaldo is as good as Bale? Just wondering as I may just be being stupid
