Right decision not sacking him. Managers need time and that's coming from a chelsea fan haha people can say we've done alright sacking managers year after year but we really haven't. Still haven't been as successful overall as utd since Roman came in and also we've been more of a cup team if anything. Only three league titles in the time Roman has been at chelsea isn't good enough when you consider the amount of money spent in my opinion so if utd really want to get back to the force they was they should give LVG time especially when he clearly is a very talented manager.

Good and refreshing post from an oppo fan! :)

Mark Ogden@MOgdenTelegraph Follow Man Utd news: Louis van Gaal will not be sacked this summer, but a second season of failure is unthinkable

What is second season failure? not getting top 4, not challenging, no silverware or all of them?

And i think people are forgetting that bale at one point was the outstanding player in the league and up with suarez/aguero while playing for ******* spurs, the lad was awesome over here.

God knows i would think challenging for the title, while having good cup runs and getting back in CL. Don't think not getting silverware will get him sacked if we do as i just said.

Thing is about silverware if he doesn't win any next season that would be zero in three seasons and at united that's just shocking, obviously one of them seasons was moyes so.

Yeah could be right but if we have a really strong and close title challenge might be safe.

I think money spent will also dictate what the targets are. I would think top four would be a minimum and perhaps either silverware or good performances in the cup competitions

He will definitely be tasked with mounting serious title challenge next year. United relies on its reputation for consistent success to get sponsors who keep the whole thing running. 3 seasons with no trophy may be too much for some of them.

In the local pubs etc... I've noticed a huge difference between fans like me and my mates in our forties and lads in their 20's (and younger).
The younger fans are in such a rush to get back to winning trophies (or sack the manager), whereas the aul lads like myself just want to see the dead weight being shifted, a new team built and decent football being played.

I didn't grow up with United winning everything by default, so I might have a little more patience.

Fair comment really, i'm in between tbh i want us back winning asap but don't want the manager sacked but all i've known is Fergie so obviously seen how united are now is very strange.

We're becoming almost real madrid lite in the market also.
