The Manchester United Thread

I believe Cesc would need a trophy in order to do that. The only thing he will come close to dropping is maybe the Arsenal shirt this summer?

I think he is talking about the Liga BBVA next season ;)

But I would rather us have a extra 15mil to spend on a cm.

It doesn't work that way. Fergie identifies a player and Gill does the negotiation. Its not like Fergie wants Defour and just that we have extra 15 Million we target Modric. Players are identified after scouting them for over a period.

I know but I just don't think that young will bring anything to our team.

I would be happy with Young, good squad player, English, Creative winger, who has an eye for a goal. Good player.

Not sure what your thoughts are on this (except Mike's)...

But RE Young: A ITK on RAWK has just said that Young is ''good as gone to United.'' Obviously take it with a pinch of salt, but I'm ecstatic if this is true.

[/COLOR]I have seen lot of United supporters are against signing Young, well I for one have no problem with us signing him. He wont be a first choice winger, he will be a squad player at best. We can rotate Nani, Valencia, Young, Park. He is a massive upgrade on Obertan, Bebe. We play lot of games and 3 in a week for quite a long, so all our players get enough time.

And this is only if his wage is not over the top. He deserves 60-70K at best with us.

He wouldn't be a back-up player. If he's ready to turn down an £80k deal with Villa, then I'm sure the money at United would be over £100k + our #7 shirt; **** that ****. He can **** off to City, Spurs or Pool.

I personally wouldnt mind seeing him, and i say it again and again, Who the **** am i to argue with Sir Alex. He seems to have a way of taking players to another level.

He wont be on an 100k a week, and the fact he turned down Villas 80k, shows he is more motivated by European Football, Trophies then Money, Surely?

As posted on VM "Rooney is a 10 always has been it was only last season he was deployed as a 9, and even then he usually played as a false 10. so no aguero is not a more creative player, that is simply false to say that. As you say aguero has even played this rle so how can you say this?
19m de gea
40 sneidjer
5 varane

we many nt even sign a winger, we certainly wont pay 30m for a destroyer, especially as we are loking at the somewhat out of favour lassana diarra

we always rotate our strikers so no it wouldnt crowd out our young players at all

Rooney has played as a 10 dropping right to the centre circle and beyond. rooney has far more assists his passing game is far more expansive. Kun is simply not a more creative player. and i doubt anyone wuld agree with your assertion.

40m on aguero is money well spent by us"

De Gea
Varane
Sneijder/Modric/Marchisio etc (someone in that mold costing 40m)
4th striker if Berbatov goes

---------- Post added at 01:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:57 PM ----------

not buying a back up keeper: Amos is the 3rd keeper
DE Gea: 19m
Varane: 5m (rising to 10m)
playmaker: 40-45m
4th striker if berbatov goes

no way in **** we will buy a dm for 30 for starters

Macheda is like to be on loan, and welbeck will be 4th striker/inside forward

First of all no, Rooney is not more creative than Kun. He has been asked to play a different role this season, a support striker lying deep pulling a lot of strings in the attack (not a number 10 though since he's still a striker and not a midfielder). Kun simply plays as a normal forward number 9 alongside Forlan, a bit deeper but not like Rooney's role this season, and his creativity isn't on display quite as much, but if he were asked to play a Rooney type role it would be. I'm not going to try and argue that he's better than Rooney since I'm on a ManU thread, but your claim that no one would agree with me is just flat out wrong, I really doubt few people outside of England think Rooney's more creative than Kun. He's definitely more powerful and a better range shooter, and maybe has better vision at the moment, but not more creative.

Your list is fine but you're missing a world class destroyer DM. Carrick and Anderson simply aren't good enough, and other than getting a playmaking CM that's your other priority. If you're lucky you'll end up with Lass, maybe for around 20 million, but if not you're going to have to shell out that much or more (if you feel the need to spend the money this summer), perhaps Alou Diarra or Toulalan or Schweinsteiger or someone like that. Sneijder/Modric will cost 50, De Gea 20. That's almost 100 million there and I don't see why on earth you would want to spend another 40 million on top of that considering the amount of debt the club is in and the FFP. Spending 40 million on a player for a position you have two excellent starters in is a waste of money or a waste of personnel, and no way should you be spending that kind of money on top of 100 million. GK, DM, and CM are ManU's priorities right now. If on top of that you wanted another player you'd sign a promising young winger to replace Giggs because Valencia isn't exactly a star IMO, while Chicharito is. If Berba leaves you'll probably need a 4th striker but don't go out and spend 40 million on him.

And as for the RM/ManU discussion, I'm sorry but I don't see how anyone can argue that Real Madrid is not the second best team in the world right now. They were dominant in the league, beat Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, and destroyed all of their Champions League opponents except for Barcelona. More importantly, they're arguably the most talented team in history...I don't see how anyone could put another side ahead of them right now.

Rooney is more creative than Aguero hands down, but not as if Aguero doesn't have other qualities better than Rooney. They're both class players, and why not spend that money on a player who's only 23 and before the accounts will be checked for FFP? This summer is the optimal time to buy great, young players.

What do you mean Valencia isn't a star? He has been in scintillating form recently. He completely schooled A.Cole, one of the best LB's in the world.

Barcelona are obviously the most talented team in the world right now, and possibly history. Not Madrid.

PAUL SCHOLES has told Manchester United he is retiring after 17 years in their first team.

His appearance as a 77th-minute substitute in the Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday was his 676th and last competitive outing for the club.

Midfielder Paul Scholes is understood to have made up his mind after United clinched their record 19th Premier League title at Blackburn a fortnight ago and wanted to make his decision public after the final home game against Blackpool last weekend.

But Sir Alex Ferguson asked him to delay the announcement to avoid any distraction for the team ahead of the Wembley match. The manager still hopes to persuade him to accept United's offer of a year's extension, but Scholes, who will be 37 in November, has told his family and close friends that he is finished.

He has made no secret that he does not enjoy being a squad player and does not want to go through another season spending most of his time on the bench. Scholes, who made his debut in 1994, is fourth on United's all-time appearance list.

He dropped a big hint that he is hanging up his boots when he revealed recently he is organising a testimonial in August and is also writing his autobiography, which will be published in the autumn.

True, but I doubt he has intentions of coming here to sit on our bench. Even if Nani goes, there's better players to replace him with; like Mata or Valbuena.

Nani has urged Dimitar Berbatov not to turn his back on Manchester United despite his UEFA Champions League final snub.
The Bulgarian striker, who shared the Premier League golden boot with Carlos Tevez after scoring 21 goals, did not even make it onto the bench for Saturday's defeat by Barcelona.
Sir Alex Ferguson selected Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez in his starting XI, with Michael Owen on the bench, leaving Berbatov conspicuous by his absence among the non-playing members of the squad.
Ferguson's selection policy has led to widespread speculation that the former Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen forward could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.

But winger Nani, who came off the bench as the Red Devils were ripped apart by a breathtaking Barcelona display at Wembley, is keen for the languid forward to remain with the 19-times champions of England.

He said: "I don't know what he has in mind but everyone knows he's a fantastic player.
"He has scored a lot of goals for us, finished as the top scorer in the league, and I would like him to play for Manchester United again next season.
"I don't know which players will be coming in but most important is that the ones who stay fight for us."
Experience

Ferguson attempted to explain his decision following the match, highlighting the need for midfield reinforcements among his substitutes and Owen's greater ability as an impact player.
The Scot admitted: "I found picking my subs very, very difficult. I tended to overload with midfielders. I thought that was the area that was most important in terms of the way Barcelona play.
"It was a choice between Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov. If you're looking for someone to nick a goal in the last few minutes of a game, Owen's experience is why I took that decision."
Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev rejected as 'nonsense' suggestions his client had stormed away from Wembley after learning he would not be involved, but refused to be drawn on his long-term future with United.
He said: "Let us take a few days."

Kun isnt more creative his style of play and the stats show that

Rooney's heat maps show that he operates in the area of the 10, not just support striker, he often drops behind the midfield two. You admit you have never sen Kun play that role, yet you assume that he would be more creative, despite never seeing any evidence to that fact, whereas there is plenty of evidence that Rooney is more creative. vision = creativity.Going to ignore the bit about most people outside europe, as you have nothing to base that on at all

Valencia not a star? what are you not about, his return was a huge boost to us one of the best wingers in the league, was so good he displaced nani back to the left.

This summer is actually the best time to spend in relation to FFP for us

Aguero would rotate with the other two, this would be the case with any striker who came in

We're not looking for a world class destroyer, and bastian isnt one any, none of those players are targets. We are looking for young upcoming destroyers at the right price

WE may not sign either of thse two playmakers, may simply choose to get Costa or Defour, other long term targets
