The Manchester United Thread

Jesus Christ, just how naive are you? Nobody ******* uses FM as a serious scouting tool, its SI marketing scheme made up to fool gullible fans. SI has a large scout network, but outside of the top leagues SI researches are not professionals, anybody can become SI scout, even you. No top club has ever gone on record saying they take FM database seriously.
Everton signs Football Manager database • Eurogamer.net

That's the key point. As we discussed the other day and I mentioned over the page, someone proven in England like Austin that you could plug and play this year would seem far more beneficial to Van Gaal who isn't going to be here long term.

But regardless, said all summer long that the key to your season was keeping De Gea. And as I type, you still have so as long as the manger's not totally ****** him off and caused any animosity, that's been the biggest and key success of your entire window for me.

Its just been on SSN that reports of a fee being agree'd between £24-26m. Not sure if that includes a keeper or not yet but it appears things are moving now.

That would depend on Navas. If we get Navas if anything happens, thats fine. If we don't then its a huge waste because you might as well have sold him immediately.

Not quite true. There is a master database that clubs do use seriously, as it Prozone data also incorporated into it. That one has been 98% accurate over the last 10 years

“Prozone Recruiter has been built to supplement the intuition of scouts and coaches by delivering detailed performance information on over 80,000 players worldwide,” says Prozone’s CEO, Thomas Schmider. “The Sports Interactive database is a highly accurate and valuable resource that will further enhance the recruitment services that we provide”

Crucially if we do sign Martial, fee aside, what can we expect of him right now?

That's the more pertinent question for me above anything. What he is going for is not relevant to what he is being bought for.

As we have undroppable Roo as #9, I'd say Martial will be used on the right wing as kinda inside forward and Mata will be moved to the centre of the pitch as #10. I know, I know we've discussed before that LVG would prefer a faster player as #10, but I would give Mata a chance there.

I don't think we've signed him to have a 36 million Rooney's deputy on the bench and to sub him in once Rooney needs a coffee break.

He can't even start for Monaco! I doubt that he would be a starter. Januzaj is better in every single way on the right, making me question his role.

Cough *Falcao* *Van Persie*

For me Januzaj and Martial are two totally different players.

Didnt Everton in the Moyes days openly admit to using the FM database? Im going back quite a few years aswell.

Did they? All I saw about that was rumours. Plus, I said top club. I can imagine smaller clubs with less resources using it as a supplementary tool.

That's an entirely different thing from taking a peek into some dude's FM stats and proclaiming him to be worth 36m.

Januzaj has had nowhere near enough development time through first team games. IF he plays practically every week at Dortmund it will do him the world of good. He will come back a completely different player

DDG betting has been suspended on SkyBet and according to Marca we've finally reached an agreement with Real over the fee.

Johnstone or Romero then?

Hmmmm. Can't say I haven't thought this was the inevitable outcome given his contract situation and it being Madrid's MO.

Navas I thought was the best 'keeper at the WC not called Neure. But I'm always wary of players showcasing themselves at a WC. A BIG step down form DDG but a step up from what you currently have.

That does make things interesting going forward.

Navas is not a BIG step down by any means. That world cup form has been his club form too. Navas has been comfortably one of the best keepers in Europe.

Maybe next time read past the headline before posting, because this isn't about FM, its about Prozone tools.

We shall see if he comes what the difference is or isn't. And we'll leave the hypotheticals at that.
