The Manchester United Thread

But do you think Van Gaal will go all out in PL or try also in EL?
Cant see any big transfers in January, they cannot offer CL games anymore. And also players see how things are going there...

Even if big player moves in Jan, he will be cup tied. So that logic is clearly wrong.

Hope Smalling only misses the one game if any, we are doomed without him since Jones is always broke and well Rojo recently suffered that injury.

According to physioroom Jones should be back this week. Marked as doubtful but IMO he will be rushed back.

Or will we see Carrick as CB which obviously happens every year.

Wouldn't be Xmas without a Carrick at CB. Some bottle and balls shown by the players and the staff this weekend would be nice.

There are very good players who arent playing CL But lets wait and see.

Never looked into Moyes and LVG comparison in games, also dont understand all the hate Moyes got and people still speaking how bad he was. He was great with Everton and lets be honest there isint big differents with LVG, only 200mil :) Also he managed to take team to CL quarter finals.
Am I just missing something or it is was just to hard to be manager after SAF.

Being revisionist here. Moyes never left United with any stability. Even if LVG goes today, the club will still be in a better place in a lot of ways. LVG is the one they should have had after Moyes, then you go an get someone to build on top of that

Also just realized that LVG handed Guillermo Valera his senior debut in the game. How many managers will do that in such a crucial game? Say what you want about LVG but he has balls of steel and puts enormous faith in youth which are qualities to be admired

4-5 years down the road and you lot will be thanking LVG for all the work he did at this point in bringing through youngsters. But then of course, he will be missing out on the trophies.

Did the same with Cameron Bothwi k-Jackson as well who has a grant total of 14 senior minutes before he was thrown on

Not much choice unless he wanted more square pegs and put young there.

It was, because it was inevitable that without instant success, the fanbase will put on nostalgia glasses and romanticize the **** out of Ferguson era. Everywhere I look on the internet, people are claiming SAF constantly played beautiful attacking football, never played for draws and kept destroying everybody 4:0. Which is gigantic bollocks.

Nah most admit the latter years of fergie wasn't great football but a lot of exciting comebacks/matches and trophies also the mid 00's weren't great but again i remember it been exciting tbh (young wayne and ronaldo) but that might be nostalgia talking more.

Yeah there are players who aren't playing in CL but at the same time they won't care about short term absence from CL.

Also there is no comparison between Moyes and Van Gaal. Van Gaal is superior in every way.

Van Gaal got an early Christmas present. Gary Monk is sacked.

he was good too, has to be said.

Whatever one thinks of LVG now, he always left a club in a better place than when he got there.

If there is one thing that Van Gaal always do, it's having faith in young players. Very refreshing to see.

He could have used Young as RB but no. He used Varela. When Darmian was injured he could have subbed in Young. But no he subbed in Borthwick Jackson.

Before this, he used McNair against Chelsea at Bridge and also Wilson to lead the line in few games.

If there is one thing I'm happy with Van Gaal, it's his faith in young players. He also included Rashford in the match day squad which will give him lot of hope. Also Powell was back from injury and he got his chance.

Wait, I forgot Lingard. He is 22 or 23 but physically he didn't develop much. Now he is getting his chances.

Yeah, whatever the results, Van Gaal's bravery in trusting young players is genuinely impressive. The man may be crazy, but he has biggest balls in world of football, and I really mean it.

Well apart from his inability to drop a poor rooney.
