The Manchester United Thread

That's what worries me though. Big big fee=more pressure on him. But I do feel he'll be better off at a bigger club where they can get the most out of him because there's major problems at Everton right now

Yeah it will and I mean I do not feel he is overrated because ultimately what you are paying for is potential, and potential is pretty fluid. If it works out a club will be paying what say 60m for a top class ball playing CB for the best part of the next 10 years which works out at say 6m a year. But coaches need to bring it out of him and have a definite plan and style that suits. But its also about being in a team where he won't be exposed whilst developing so having a CB partner like say Kompany or someone in DM like Schneiderlin etc who will guide him and protect him. If he wants to get to the top of the game he really needs to pick his move very wisely and not base it on cash. But then again he may stay, crazy times ahead this summer be one of the most mental windows in ages.

Yeah we all love off the field entertainment mate, but IMO people are looking for something that's not there and raising their expectations for another big soap.

Wenger will obviously take a dig at Jose and vice versa but the way people are going with their stories is bit too much.

I'll be awaiting some insulting comments eagerly mate haha

Yeah I expect a mental window lol. This is one of the very few times you'll see me say this-I wouldn't mind if he went to City this time (urgh) because I rate Pep extremely highly. Granted he may take a while to get used to the Prem-or he may not who knows, and Kompany is a tremondous player who's also a model professional, and being in a squad with him would be a tremondous benefit. But right now there's a lot of turbulence at Goodison that will have a negative impact. The club have to be very careful with the fee they are seeking if they do sell-I do not want another saga like we had with Arteta etc

The day he does that without any provocation is the day he will be losing many United fans support. Many United fans don't want him for the exact reason, he takes it too far.

It will give lot of ammo for United fans to abuse him and rightly so. I will be joining too.

Yeah I also think Pep is the best fit but like you say he does not have an easy job on at City that midfield, well for how Pep plays needs a total restructure. Looks like Yaya will be off and Fernando and Fernandinho are not good enough for me but then having a partner in the CM like Yaya probably doesn't help things.

I am really looking forward to the summer as a neutral, I am hoping it is the best in a while.

Stones should stay at Everton. At City/United or any bigger club his every mistake will be highlighted and confidence will be shattered in no time.

Well, Lukaku is wanted back at Chelsea apparently-so there's going to be a big bidding war for him I expect Europewide. Pienaar will be off, Howard is heading for MLS. So that's 3 of our players already gone. Depends on how much more unrest there's going to be. I expect clubs like Spurs, Utd, City etc to spend a rather hefty fortune. I'll also be watching what happens at Leicester aswell with a lot of interest. Black Friday ain't got nothing on mental summer lol

Disagree afraid. Goodison is getting more volatile by the day, highlighted by Martinez forcing Baines to apologise for speaking the truth. That there's absolutely no chemistry at our club. Don't get me wrong I'd love it if he did stay. But the way the situation is behind the scenes I can't see it happening. It's very volatile right now

I have seen Everton fans are against Martinez so his time is up?

I always believed Everton is one of the best club to develop youngsters and have lot of patience than other clubs.

I agree though, things are not looking good at Everton but for some reasons I believe Martinez will be sacked this season.

Re Stones, I think the move is bit early. He has lot of learning to do and if he moves for bigger price tag then the pressure would be enormous. Every mistake will be scrutinized and he will be on bench after a mistake.

Looks like every club is having issues except Spurs.

ManUtd could be fined for being late for the game. lol, they should fine the club for still having Van Gaal as manager.

I'd say the cup semi will decide his fate. The way the season has unravelled has been incredibly disheartening. It's all very well playing well away. But to have such a poor home record, with the squad we have is just unacceptable. Okay some results we were unlucky-like the 1-0 loss against West Brom. 33 shots, hit the bar and post, cleared off the line, 14 corners, and a staggering 73% possession. That I can take as bad luck. But when you get found out at home, and don't change your tactics and adjust-that's just very, very poor.

I've defended him in the past, and was very accepting of him when he took charge and was very optomistic. But when your too stubborn to acknowledge flawed tactics and don't bother changing, and mistreat your players....bang out of order. Personally I think we need to change things around regardless of the cup result. I think the dressing room has been lost barring a few players

I remember that the same was said by Wigan fans when it was announced, that he starts off well and when he is founded out he can't alter his tactics. Looks like same pattern is followed.

Moyes back to Everton?

Extremely doubtful. The Everton forums would just implode. From what I understand though we've made an approach for Marcelo Bielsa, who wants to manage in the PL

People talk about Jose as short term signing then what is Poch? This is his 3rd job in 3 years and ManUtd would be his 4th in 5 or 6 years. That's not someone you can rely for long term projects.

Also, in the position we are in we should be looking for a proven winner. Already we are few good seasons without trophy, can't afford to waste few more seasons like this.

Yeh but you could argue that Pochettino is just climbing up the ladder so to speak, I mean Jose has moved from big club to big club whereas Poch has moved from smaller stature club to bigger one each time.

Thing that appeals me more about Pochettino is the way he utilises young players so well into the team and his ethos/style of play would be ideal.

Then again you can argue Mourinho can be brought in for short-term success to lay foundations for manager like Pocchetinno after. Problem is if another manager comes in and doesn't do well could set us back further than we are now.

**** gets real if Bielsa is appointed. Media will have a field day. Also it would be great for the league, so many good managers in the league at the same time. Would love to see Howe getting chance, looked very talented manager.

But there isn't anything to say Poch would stay long term at any club. There isn't a manager in the world who would stay long term at clubs. Wenger would be the last.

Agreed about young players part. It's very interesting how he uses young players. Very admirable tbh. But the sample size is way too small to say he has what it takes to win trophies.

For now, most important thing for the club is to be back in the contention for the league and win some trophies.

ManUtd U21 are playing against Middlesbrough in about half an hour.

Rooney and Jones are starting along with CBJ.

Pereira is on the bench and good to see Tuanzebe returning from injury.

Reports in Holland saying we're close to agreeing a fee for Ajax academy player Hossian Zimani think that's correct spelling. Don't know anything about him apart from he can play Amc but is a preferred pacy winger.

So that's 2 from Netherlands after signing Fosu Mensah.

Hopefully there will be extensive recruitments at youth level. There is real shortage of players at under age levels.

I actually think Tuanzebe and Roshaun are better defenders than TFM. Think I would like to see him in CM, but could defo do a good job anywhere across the back if needed. Think you lose some of his attribute playing in defence.

Yep. Like I said know very little about him. Apparently we were in talks with him along with Chong. Looks like **** is being true to his word and investing in top talent from Europe and Local. All this with the new academy restructuring sounds very promising.
