The Manchester United Thread

Tbh I think all the pep talk is nonsense sure he was not happy and did some things at Madrid that were out of line, but I put that more down to the frustration of not being to overtake Barca not pep imo.

Haha, this is what I said months back when he was first mooted for United.

He's going to be going all out to cut Chelsea down to size and he will be wanting to one up Pep. Actually, he will probably want to crush the "specialist in failure" while he's at it.

A lot of pressure before you even take in to account he will be managing United.

Tbh you are overselling it. As much as Jose hate Pep, Pep hate Jose also and brings worst in him. He even swore once in the press conference.

IMO general public and media exaggerates all these a lot.

It's a pointless comparision tbh. Moyes had to go because he was consistently ******** the bed in vs. top 6 games, the team was going nowhere.

Van Gaal is hanging on on basis of his vs. top 6 performance. These results got him top 4 in his first year and that's why you're still in the race this season too. As **** as this season is , it should be obvious to anybody that the squad is 2-3 good transfers away from a legit title challenge, regardless of whether the old git stays or not.

Not sure how true as nothing is reported on Di Marzio twitter.

if we hire Jose then Jose can work with the players he targeted when he was at Chelsea, like Martial, Shaw and if we can sign Manolas then him too.
Good defender! Him and stones would be great if he's after same targets. Plus to that Ibra, Griezmann, Sanches. And I'm sure he will want a top CM. Maybe Kroos.

Ha ha just now Di Marzio published the story.

Hopefully we stay well clear of Stones. Very overrated player. We have Fosu Mensah and few other very talented CBs in the ranks who can do the job.

Hahah oh my god! He SWORE!

Yeah the media exaggerates but a fair bit because Jose gives them so many soundbites and controversial quotes.

Everyone knows they are rivals as they were at the two biggest clubs around. All I'm saying is; There will be just as much pressure on him at United as there was at Chelsea last season and probably more.

He will be out to redeem himself from the state/way he left Chelsea. That could work extremely well for United or implode like has happened in the past.

And if he can't overtake Peps Man City?

I do really hope Jose goes to united BTW, think it would easily be the most interesting appointment and possibly the best at the same time!

I don't know, you are making it sound like Jose will be fighting World war 2 where has to take care of German Tankers, Army while all being left all alone in the battle field.

Battle with Wenger, point to prove to Chelsea, can't handle Pep. lol, it's just a football manager job. Having 3-4 rival managers hating each other is nothing new, it's common. I hate how he disrespects other managers though.

Like I said, Pep loses cool with Jose around and he hate the sight of the man. Both do.

He will not be out to redeem himself. It's just another job which will fall to him at the right time. I'm sorry but many are looking for some sort of soap.

But how he owned rafa Benitez and his wife was pretty funny tho.

Haha calm down, not meaning that at all.

Course I want 'soap'. Half the fun of football is in that stuff! Red cards, arguments, offside goals. All the comments after, all the counter comments. Some of the best stuff comes from that.

Like Jose and his Wenger "voyeur" comment, that was pretty funny. Jose has many of the best quips actually. That's why I want him in.

You really think Jose will be thinking "It's just another job" ??

I'm sorry but I have to strongly disagree. 100% bollocks. Stones is not very overrated at all. Yes he has made some mistakes, and at times he takes a bit too long with the ball in a dangerous defensive position. Overrated? Not at all. But if he makes a mistake my god do people pounce on him like savage pitbulls ready to crush him. He's only 21, already an excellent defender who is versatile. And I'm not speaking with an ounce of bias here-I've been critical where I've needed to be. I'm speaking as football fan and an England fan. Big clubs want him for a reason.

Rio Ferdinand in his early days was considered lazy and made a lot of mistakes, however given time he developed into a top centre back. Now I'm not saying for sure Stones will definitely reach that level however the media and public should lay off him and just let him get on with his football.

I mean god forbid a developing footballer makes a mistake right?

Agree here, I've only seen him a few times this season but he looked so comfortable on the ball (even with his few errors)

Once he works out when and where to do his forward runs and picking passes, he will be unreal. He does actually remind me of Rio movement wise.

He played some cracking passes in that Holland friendly, and also slipped on his **** in possession lol.

Yeah we seem to enjoy slipping at times lol. His positioning against Arsenal was also second to none. The problem is when you're a youngster when you make a mistake or two, all of a sudden people question you're ability and for some it can crush their confidence. And there's times where he has looked nervous and I'm not surprised-this sort of thing will affect him when he's still learning

Hopefully he starts perfecting when he can do those sorts of things....or get longer studs!

He really impressed me with his passing for England the other week, always looking to get the ball in to danger areas

Being a Leeds fan I can see the Ferdinand comparison and like you say whether he goes onto to be as good as Rio only time will tell. He needs to learn when to make his moves with the ball just like Rio did but I think we need to be encouraging it rather than getting on his back for it, but the only way he will learn is through making mistakes. I think a lot of it got coached out of Rio's game so hopefully the same won't happen with stones as a ball playing CB gives you so many more options and can open the pitch up. Personally think Citeh could join the queue for his signature and he will Flourish under Pep but Everton no longer need to sell so will need to be a big fee to see him go.

That's why a bigger club will benefit him. Our club structure is only going to hinder him. There's clearly problems at our club which is evident with our league position-Baines said it himself (in which he was wrongly forced to apologise-for speaking the truth). Though I also question the valuation of him-that can also cause unnecessary pressure. He's the sort of player that can benefit England with his vision and versatility. But I feel the coaches that can bring it all out of him are away from Goodison.

That's what worries me though. Big big fee=more pressure on him. But I do feel he'll be better off at a bigger club where they can get the most out of him because there's major problems at Everton right now

Very disrespectful mate. That's the Jose I hate and scared we will be getting.

Haha calm down, not meaning that at all.

No he won't be thinking "it's another job" but it will be just another job where he will fight with other managers.

Yeah we all love off the field entertainment mate, but IMO people are looking for something that's not there and raising their expectations for another big soap.

Wenger will obviously take a dig at Joes and vice versa but the way people are going with their stories is bit too much.

Developing footballer makes mistake and that's very much given but the way people are going on about Stones you would think we are looking at Nesta but he is just another English CB who is very good on the ball so he is rated very highly for his ball playing skills.

Calling him overrated doesn't mean calling him as not talented, obviously he is talented CB but not worth the hype or the money. There are better younger CBs out there who can be signed for smaller fee or talented CBs in the ranks who can grab the chance.

Ha ha, like I said he gets rated for his ball playing skills.

Even against Watford he took unnecessary risks which could have costed the team.

The hypocrisy of the English press is so visible, David Luiz was slated for having the courage to play from the back, something Stones is rated for. And David Luiz was much better footballer and Stones will do well to reach his level.
