If Rooney did go you could still have

Ibra
Memphis-Griezmann-Martial

really think Mou will push hard for Griezmann is a massive fan and was one of his major targets for Chelsea and was close to getting him if reports are true. Ibra, Griezmann and Sanches is a good start to our window if it happens. Then will likely go for Stones again he will.

I don't really want Ibra though...

Great player, but he's probably going to cost way more than a 34 year old deserves, and might not even perform well in the premier league.

Should really be trying to test Juventus's resolve and try get Dybala

If we're out of the CL you can forget any good top targets happening like Dybala or Griezzmann. They have literally zero reason to move to us next season if we're not in CL, they are not in a Di Maria situation like at Madrid so can't see it.

Tbh I'd take that Sky Sources Ibra thing with a huge pinch of salt, I can't see why he would want to join us if we're not in CL either.

Our summer will be affected by this in some way, we might still pull off another big signing still, like if a player is in a sticky situation at Madrid, which looks possible.

First part is wrong. Many big clubs have allowed manager when they exited group stage and later eliminated in Europa. Klopp at Dortmund was eliminated in Group stages of Europa and in the next season they finished last in their CL group.
Liverpool with Rafael Benitez in 2009-10
ManUtd with Fergie in 2011-12
ManCity with Mancini in 2011-12
ManCity with Mancini in 2012-12. Finished 4th in group stage.
Juventus with Conte in 2013-14
Barca in 2000-01 season

Not sacking Van Gaal is something beyond joke now. 39 ******* goals in 32 games. Mahrez alone has nearly as many.

Well I was referring to exiting the CL and then Europa League being the most embarrassing and that no top team would put up with this season in general, when you add together everything including the league.

I do understand this whole Rome wasn't built in a day and Fergie ethos, but it simply doesn't apply to Van Gaal: -

A) Because he is retiring after next season so why keep him anyway?

B) His decisions are costing us points constantly and there is no hope of him changing so, all in all, he is useless for us now.

C) My own opinion but I know a lot of players will be turned off joining us with him in charge for next season because who want to join a team that plays this way.

Even if we consider the whole youth thing, it's only out of coincidence and not how it would of gone without injuries.

I agree being out CL will stuck but we will still be a huge pull with our wages we can offer and with Mou in charge players will want to come and play for him and us if he has a hand in negotiations.

Very true under normal circumstances. A second year out of three out of the top competition, and going out the group the in between, alongside a third straight year with (West Ham still to be played excepted) no sniff of silverware makes you less and less attractive.

But Mourinho, presuming he is both the man and he hasn't completely soured people after his behaviour at Chelsea this year, is some what of a leveller there. Players want to play for him.

Don't discount the Mourinho factor and money.

But another trophyless season his first and even that pull puts you further behind the curve.

I still hope we try for Pochettino before Mourinho, I know it's unlikely but who knows, he has held off signing new contract at Spurs thus far.

Going to sign as soon as season over reported just wants to focus on players and title challenge. And it's Mou all day over Poch atm. Would love Poch after Mou though!

Yeh if Mourinho comes in and delivers which he usually does then he would be perfect successor to come in after.

But I still have a feeling Mourinho could be a flop after his last stint at Chelsea, doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence if things do not go well things tend to get sour quickly.

Always that chance I guess. Just think he is gonna come back refreshed and with a huge point to prove.

I have no doubt he will do well but what I would be worried about is Pep at the helm of City. Pep is probably the one manager just as good as Jose which Mourinho cannot take. Pep has always brought out the worst aspects of Jose's character

I agree. But pep and City won't be able to dominate like Barca in LaLigue.

Our league performance is nothing but pathetic and embarrassing. I agree on that, how he is in the job is beyond joke.

Btw, he deserves lot of credit for youth development. It was his reason to trim the squad and that's the reason why they got chance. Van Gaal himself said he want small squad so that he can play youngsters.

It's alright to give credit to the man when deserved.

People talk about Jose as short term signing then what is Poch? This is his 3rd job in 3 years and ManUtd would be his 4th in 5 or 6 years. That's not someone you can rely for long term projects.

Also, in the position we are in we should be looking for a proven winner. Already we are few good seasons without trophy, can't afford to waste few more seasons like this.

The most embarrassing thing about this season is that we've allowed a manager to not only knock us out of CL at group stages but also the Europa League. No top club would of accepted this and that's my complaint with this board with Woodward on who makes the key decisions, have some ****** spine to act up the way you talk and sack a manager when his time has come. This is the second time they've cost us a whole season by not acting with Moyes and LVG.

LvG should of been gone by at Christmas/January time and everyone knew it apart from them it seems.
I'm glad it's that way so that once he's sacked, no one will say **** like "oh he deserved more time...he wasn't given any support" like the comments that were made post-moyes.

Never bet on that mate. Jose is Jose and nothing will change that. Chelsea fans believed they are getting new and very much matured Jose but it's the same.

I don't mind his cranky press conferences as long as he doesn't disrespect other managers.

Saw his interview other day where he talked about how he will start working in the summer and loves England. There was a small bit where he looked like a Jose of old, where he was cracking few jokes and was very easy going. Understandable as he is not in job so very much relaxed.

It's a good point with City tbh. With Pep in the Prem, chances of Mourinho having a meltdown increase tenfold.

There were posts supporting Moyes? Lol would love to read them.

IIRC when Van Gaal was doing badly there were comparisons but when Moyes was sacked there was a huge sigh of relief. If will be even better when Van Gaal will be relieved off first team duty.

Haha, this is what I said months back when he was first mooted for United.

He's going to be going all out to cut Chelsea down to size and he will be wanting to one up Pep. Actually, he will probably want to crush the "specialist in failure" while he's at it.

A lot of pressure before you even take in to account he will be managing United.

@DiMarzio has supposedly reported that Man Utd have met with Kostas Manolas' agent. Mourinho's Chelsea had a bid rejected for him in Sept.

Not sure how true as nothing is reported on Di Marzio twitter.

if we hire Jose then Jose can work with the players he targeted when he was at Chelsea, like Martial, Shaw and if we can sign Manolas then him too.
