The Manchester United Thread

He was trying to shore things up at the back by bringing on TFM for Mata in the last minutes at home. That's just awful.

I don't genuinely blame any player cos I don't think anyone played awful.

How many times did I see good crosses just drift into space in the far post during set pieces or open play? Not enough players getting forward. I even noticed when villa had set pieces, we would bring every single player back to defend against Aston Villa..killing any potential break away chances to score goals

Absolutely pathetic. Some united fans are cautious because of jose's defensive mindset but a mou side would bang in 6 against this villa side.

But Jose plays defensive game even though his team are always 2nd or 3rd in goals scored? Some of the myths about Jose is hilarious.

What a player Rashford is turning into. Made his debut end of Feb and already scored 7 goals this season. He was not even CF in all the games, few games he started as CF but then moved to Right wing position, few games started as RW.

He is just 18 and was not even regular for U21 side. He was promoted to U21s this season and he was not even CF by trade. He played as winger and IIRC started playing as CF from this season or last.

Now he has scored 2 goals vs Arsenal, 1 goal vs City away, 1 goal against West Ham away. That's a decent record. He is very clinical, scoring 4 goals in 5 shots (must be shots on target, going by some twitter stats) and has a conversion rate of 50%. He is very quick off the mark and his overall game is very good. He combines really well with Martial.

For all the doom and gloom, we have few excellent youngsters and if we can get a good manager then we will have strong core that wins few trophies.

Just like Rashford, Fosu Mensah was playing for U18 last season. Kid is as aggressive as they come in any position.

Bild reporting Jose signed ManUtd contract, 3 year contract.

This is the Bild article.

Lvg will be toast. And the league needs a revamped Jose. European wise we are currently a joke as a league at the elite level. Need to turn that around. pep, klopp, Jose. We need to go back levels of 2006-2011

He definitely looks revamped in the few interviews he has done lately. Got that I'm the man look on his face again, and that smug sense of humour back and glint in his eyes.

Seen that Sam Luckhurst, Tom Dermott, Jan Aage Florjtoff and Bild all saying Mou signed till 2019. Di Marzio still insisting done deal also.

Ducker and Yahoo claiming Mou had been in contact with some of the players and Ed about targets for next season and transfers.

Don't know why tbh. It's not like it's going to derail our great season or anything. All I can put it down to is respect to LVG and he leaves on good terms so to speak.

I believe he was being ironic mate as folk narked at City in here when they announced Pep with Pellegrini still in situ.

Linked with Higuain, would be one of the dumbest transfers if we sign him.

Because Napoli won't sell him cheap and he is not that good also. Signing Ibra on short term deal is much better for United.

He's not that good? Are you mad? We should have signed him before he went to Napoli. I'd rather buy him than get Irahimovic and pay him the £600,000 a week he's reportedly after. Plus Ibrahimovic wouldnt be able to get away with the **** he does in the Premiership. He'd be banned constantly for off the ball incidents that get referred to the video panel. He's forever slapping players and getting sly digs in. Its entertaining and funny but he wont get away with that here.

Calm down.

No we shouldn't have signed him before Napoli. I'm glad we didn't. Yes, he isn't that good. He is good striker, any striker who scores 30 goals is good enough but his game is very limited. If you want ManUtd to spend so much money on a limited player then fine. For me he is not worth the money. Few weeks in and every one would be crying on how limited his game is.

Ibra wants 600K per week, if you believe that then you will believe anything that is reported. Also Higuain will be paid more than 200K per week and on top of that we have to pay 60 plus Million to sign him.

Ibra is better in every possible way and it's not even a contest.

Who said I believed it? I said "reported". But considering we do not have to pay for him, it would make sense for him to ask for an inflated wage on a short deal. If we dont pay that, and he's only arsed about his wage, he'll be on the first plane to China.

Of course Higuain would be paid £200k or more. Thats the going rate now at a top club for the best players. IF we signed Ibrahimovic and IF he is paid the REPORTED £600k a week, thats £21m a year (200k short) difference in wages between Higuain on £200k and Ibrahimovic on £600k. So on a 2 year contract for Ibrahimovic, the difference in wages would be the equivalent of paying £42m for him.

So yes, Id rather buy Higuain for £60m and pay him £200k a week on a 5 year deal, than get Ibrahimovic for free and pay him £600k for 2 years (equivalent of buying him for £42m and paying him £200k a week). Higuain works out £12m a season in transfer fee over the 5 years. Ibrahimovic would be on a short deal and in effect would work out at £21m a year in a transfer fee (difference in wage).

All if's and buts and speculation but you can see my point.

Ibra or Higuian is not even close tbh. Yes both would want huge wages, but Napoli would rinse us easily upwards of 50-70m and he ain't worth that imo. And on just on footballing terms Ibra is miles ahead of Higuian add to that the huge merchandise and sponsorships he will bring to the club would make it a no brainer to me. And I'm not saying Higuian is **** but just not on Ibra level imo. Get him in for 2-3 years then we have the likes of Martial, Rashford, Wilson coming through developing in the meantime.

But you have still got the fact that Ibrahimovic is a dirty player and does many things to players off the ball. He wont get away with that in this country with the video panel and retrospective bans. By rights he should kow this and not do it. But this is Zlatan we're talking about lol.

Also about Higuain not having much to his game and whatever. What does that matter if LVG is going and Mourinho is coming in? Mourinho might want what he does in his striker. LVG wants something else. Wasn't Chelsea sniffing around Chicharito when Mourinho was in charge? He doesnt have a lot to his game apart from scoring goals. So it all depends on the plan Mourinho has and the style of play. If he's going 4-2-3-1 with wingers out wide putting balls in, Higuain would suit that. Im not saying Ibrahimovic doesnt, but comparing their games now is only relevent IF LVG stays.

We'll just have to wait and see.
