What a goal that was by the u21's. Great first touch and spin by Pereira to put the ball in the path of love, then a good shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner

Di Marzio and Ramano just tweeted that Mou is almost close to completion/signing and he and Mendes already have been working on clients. And that Mou was never interested in France or PSG just Utd. :)

That's 3rd title in 4 years. This season our U21 had many U18 players who later were promoted to first team.

3 times in 4 years since the format is changed and 4 titles in 5 years overall.

Very good record.

Prob more to do with the U18, who've been panned by everyone. They only won 5 games this year, and a club record lost 12 on the bounce.

Hence the club panic and rebuild

Yeah tbh some was aimed more towards u18s but there are many factors to why they have been so poor. But most were genralising our hole youth set up.

Most of the players played in U21 were U18 and then got promoted to First team. Our defense was Varela, Ro Shaun, Tuanzebe and CBJ for most of the season. 3 out of 4 defenders are still eligible for U18.

Then we had Fosu Mensah and Rashford who are 18 year old and both eligible for U18s.

Add to that crazy injury spells. I will admit at youth level there is a shortage in some possitions, but looks like the club are working hard on that as we have seen with a few signings lately. Add to that our restructuring atm throughout things are looking and progressing well already.

Sports Bild reporting that Bayern, Dortmund, Utd all chasing Ousmane Dembele. Hope it's true great talent! Also French media are rubbishing the Mou to PSG links yesterday.

So how does that change the point? the press were picking up on the current U18 squad rather than the u21s.

It changes everything. That was gutter journalism, picking on U13 or U15 team losing by big margin when youth teams at such level, it's common to lose by big margins. Journalists didn't even do their basic job of why the team lost and they started with click bait articles and few people who always want negative stuff about United lapped it up.

If we played our proper U18 team we would have won lot of games. But our coaches thought it's good for them to be promoted to U21 than playing in U18. In U18 team you always have school kids, first year and second year scholars, so once so many players were promoted to U21, obviously we will have few players short in U18 team.

No journalists report on u13/U14 games but shamefully few journalists to report their click bait articles used those results to prove something which was hilariously off the mark.

I was pointing out the articles weren't directed at the U21s, but the results of the U18s. I know the excuses. Save em. The CURRENT squad got panned, better? Nowt wrong with the Academy, the overhaul is needed but not as overkill as the press/hacks made it out to be.

Calls up and movement of players is the same as every club in the league, everyone knows results outside the first team don't count for anything.

No. It was started with U14 or U15 games.

Arsenal U18 finished in the bottom 2 last season and in bottom 3 season before that and their U13 or U14 lost 13-0 this season. Did you see the press coverage? No. Like I said, most of the stories reported by Journalists don't have a clue on what is going on.

Aren't Southampton hailed in the country for their impressive academy? Well they are second bottom and did worse than United. They were in bottom 3 last season. Did you read anything about their academy?

Can't help if you don't see the pattern. U18 results won't be consistent because of so much movement, if anyone use the story to prove the academy is falling then they are idiots and haven't got a clue. Simple as that.

Important reason of having academy is to save cost and produce players for first team. ManUtd academy is doing superbly on that front. If anything other academies have to catch up with ManUtd. It's all well and good to win cups at under age level but counts for nothing if they can't promote anyone to the first team.
