Pereira: "I think that I deserved the chance. I'm very calm because everyone sees that I'm playing well and that I deserve my shot."

Pereira: "LvG did not let me leave. I took the decision and now I'm training, doing my job and waiting for him to fulfil his word."

Pereira: "I wanted to be loaned out in Jan in order to play more, but LvG told me to stay because he would use me and that I would play."

Can't believe there was people here like Mike or Tyton who tried to even argue that Pereira hasn't been mistreated this season.

Now coming out with he could of gone out on loan in January and LVG refused it considering he hasn't been in matchday squad since last February before the last game of season is just pathetic.

We've truly wasted any possibility of using or improving him this season by giving him a chance somewhere else. Great management.

Just watched the England U20 v Portugal U20s and GK Joel Periera was very impressive pulling of at least 3 world or saves. If not for him England would have scored at least 4 or 5. Continues his impressive development. Looks a real talent this lad.

Van Gaal could have planned to use him but when your team due to injuries has to have half of the under 20s in it you want every senior player you can get playing even if it means Pereira doesn't get on

This argument doesn't really apply considering he had not even been in the match day squad since February. I mean if he was always on the bench it would but because he wasn't, he has been U21's practically all second half of season so he could of just gone out on loan.

Maybe be you have to be British and of a certain age to appreciate just how special the FA Cup is?

Nah!! Sure I'm Irish and have always loved the cup final.
I've two American mates in their 40's too, and they've been following the FA cup for decades. They love cup final day and because they are neutrals, they deck the living room out in the colours, get the beers in and choose sides.

They will have more fun than me today because they have no worries :)

Do you even read what people write or just get het up. I said he's not the best player in the youth. We knew months ago that Lvg wasn't going to send him on loan.

We also said he wasn't better than Mata. And he isn't. End of pointless argument.

Call me an old fart (because I am) and a stick in the mud but the FA Cup lost it's magic for me once they tinkered with it's kick off time, scheduled it for TV coverage etc. Good luck to both sides, hope it's enjoyable-but I'm giving it a miss which is a first for me

So because player A is not better than player B on paper, he doesn't even deserve an opportunity even though player A hasn't been at his best this season?

When the **** does Pereira deserve an opportunity then? Mata by his standards has had an average season at best. Lingard is an average player, I just don't understand when you expect players like these actually to get a chance.

We can argue this for as long as you like, but at the end of the day, at the start of this season people rated Pereira as one of our best young players. It's so easy to say different now Mike, but honestly I'm not going to trawl back to find posts who thought Pereira was going to have the best chance of playing time in first team from the youth.

Pereira was our best U21 player no doubt about it. He was treated very unfairly. He should have got more chances than he got.

I like how Van Gaal played so many young players but his treatment of Pereira and Januzaj were the only black spots IMO.

Exactly, why people even try to deny this is beyond me, especially going into this season it is not debatable.

This is not a massive crusade on LVG as he has done good things with other players like Rashford (more out of coincidence than anything else I would argue to get him his chance in first place due to injuries) but I think Pereira has been horribly treated this season. I mean LVG certainly hasn't helped himself with the reputation he has for treating Brazilians badly.

I agree. There was a huge news about Van Gaal and Brazilians and Van Gaal didn't help with how he treated Pereira. He gave so many players chances to prove their worth but not for our best U21 player.

Should have given more chances. Also we should thank Van Gaal for saving few millions. Now instead of signing squad players we can rely on our U21 players who are part of first team squad.

#MUFC will announce Mourinho as the new manager after the #FACupFinal - reports. Wow! http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/fa-cup-final-live-manchester-11365305 …

Pereira couldn't have gone on loan because you had 1245 injuries to the first squad. Manager has to put club interests first. End of story.

And no, Pereira wasn't best U21 player the whole season. Maybe in the latter part when all the ones who deserved it actually made the first team.

This is a pointless argument and a waste of space on the internet. Zzezzy just routinely gets a raging ***** over randomly picked youth player every month, it's hilarious.

And please, quit whining about Januzaj already. He has over 60 games and he's done jack **** in most of them. Kid does five half decent dribbles three years ago, you people proclaim him a second coming of Jesus based on absolutely nothing, and now you can't emotionally deal with the fact that maybe you were wrong all this time.

Three different manager this season decided not to use him. THREE. If that doesn't tell you the problem is Januzaj himself, you're hopeless.

This. Tbh, I'm tempted to put you on ignore zzeezzy for your routine random and pointless rages about x thing.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. If Pereira was included in squads, it would surely be at the expense of januzaj. But saying that, it's not like januzaj has been used much either so it's a pointless argument really.

When most of your defense contains debutants or players that are u18/21 then you want your attackers as strong as possible. Apart from martial getting injured in the warm-up and rashford stepping in, we have pretty much played our strongest attack barring obvious rotations like mata/herrera.

I'm gutted Pereira hasn't been given more time, but it's more down to the situation than just snubbing him. That's my opinion anyway.

I honestly think 1-1 over the 90 minutes. Then anything can happen

.....

So about the match. Any predictions? I think 2-1 to Palace on overtime.

My main guy to watch is Zaha. Something says he will makes some big trouble if he dosent crash under pressure. Also that wing seems to be key who wins. Ward vs Martial and Zaha vs Rojo. Also Fellaini vs Jedinak will be interesting if Jedinak is played.

I'd love you to be right in that prediction but I can't see anything other than a comfortable United win.

Palace are an awful side, and injury hit, led by an even worse fella' that I fear will be a three time Cup final loser come this evening.
