**** those United fans singing the Hillsborough chants, today of all days, ******* wankers.
Wouldn't surprise me if there were a few fans chanting about it but how could you hear it watching on a stream/TV and I couldn't at the game?

Having seen it again I don't think it was a penalty on Young. I don't really get this logic that if there's a touch it's a penalty. Football doesn't suddenly become basketball inside the box there has to be enough contact to warrant the player going down in my opinion.

Minority of Utd fans chant about Hillsborough and minority of Liverpool fans chant about Munich. I'm not saying its right but it will never change its as simple as that.

So was most of the side. What's your point. Evans has recovered well to be one of our best defenders this season, stunning turnaround.

I'd say he's been our player of the season along with Carrick, yet people still mock both.

I'd say he's been our player of the season along with Carrick, yet people still mock both.

Eh it's worthless even giving those people the time of day. Any person with an idea of how football works knows that Carrick is a quiet achiever whilst people have preconceived ideas of how bad Evans is because of his underwhelming form since his first season breakout, these very people refuse to believe that in a time of crisis Evans could ever step up to the plate therefore even when he does (Vidic injury), they are to blind and stubborn to see it. The world is full of irritating people like this.

Why would you say this? I did not even hear it but if it was true then it is a minority. You will get it anywhere, I suppose Liverpool fans mocking the Munich Air Disaster is just as bad, what goes around comes around sadly.

United sign Gaitan

MANCHESTER United have agreed a deal to sign the Benfica midfielder Nicolás Gaitán with both Fabio da Silva and Federico Macheda moving to the Portuguese club as part of the terms.

The details of the deal are likely to see Fabio going only on a season’s long loan while Macheda’s transfer could be a permanent one, with Manchester United then reducing some of the costs of acquiring the highly-rated Gaitán.
Although the figures involved are unlikely to be disclosed, and the deal will not be announced until the season is over, it appears United are valuing Gaitán at more than £20m plus the players.
While it will be interesting to see where he fits into Sir Alex Ferguson’s plans United have been tracking the Argentina international for some time and are now understood to have made their move for a summer transfer. Gaitan, who can play as an attacking midfielder or left-sided winger, caught the eye in Benfica’s Champions League campaign this season when they faced both United and Chelsea.
The 24 year-old has a £38 million release clause in his contract and it had been thought that Benfica were attempting to hold out for the full amount to be paid. However, that was always going to be an unrealistic valuation for Gaitán, despite his undoubted talent which has also attracted the likes of Inter Milan and Paris St-Germain, and United have been in talks for several months to try to structure a deal.
Macheda, the 20-year-old Italian striker, is on loan to Queens Park Rangers but has failed to make an impression after a handful of appearances and has returned to United after suffering an ankle injury. It would now appear his days at Old Trafford are numbered with Macheda a makeweight in the deal while, more interestingly, Fabio also appears set to be included.
The inclusion of players would be an attraction for Benfica who have to pay Gaitan’s former club, Boca Juniors, 20 per cent of any transfer fee. United had hoped to agree a deal in January but will now conclude the transfer in June.
It had been thought that United might try to include Bebe as well as Macheda but the choice of Fabio has helped persuade Benfica to conclude negotiations. Gaitan is understood to be represented by the Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes who has close links with United having taken the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani to the club.
Ferguson has already said that Fabio will go out on loan next season. Although the Brazilian featured in United Champions League final defeat to Barcelona last season, he has failed to progress as expected.
A succession of niggling injuries have not helped and Fabio had made just 15 appearances in all competitions this season, with the right-back starting just two league matches.
Ferguson told United Review: “Fabio will go on loan next season to give him concentrated first-team experience. We have already talked to him and he understands the value of playing regularly at a higher level than we can give him at the moment.”

This is just rumour though, although I think there is truth in us wanting Gaitan and it probably will happen in the summer, unexpected signing, but I trust Fergie. Gaitan certainly has the ability to be something special given the right training/guidance.

I doubt it. Why would we need Gaitan ? To replace Rooney ? Or Nani to left ? If we switch Nani to right, then Valencia has no place in team. If we switch Valencia to RB, then Rafael wont have place. He's a good player, but I just can't see sense in it.

Gaitan would drop off the striker (Rooney/Welbeck) and fill that hole between midfield and defence, like Silva does for City, Mata does for Chelsea (when he plays AMC position).

He would fill current Rooney role, that means Rooney would go on his striker role ( not this new one). I can't remember when Rooney had few good games as a lone striker. He plays best as second striker. It's just very unlikely and it doesn't sound logical to me. Unless Fergi thinks placing Rooney in CM role :O

Not really sure either to be honest, it probably a rumour, although I do not think Welbeck is good enough for United, his work rate is good, but apart from that he seems very average to me, why did we not keep Rossi?

Welbeck's great, beside work rate, he's ******* explosive, great movement and decent dribler. He just need to work on his passes and partnership with Rooney. I would say he's now better than Hernandez ( overall ). We really don't need 4 strikers in team, 3 suits just fine (Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck - and Keane for backup).

I like Welbeck but as a Striker he needs to be doing better than 2 goals in the last 15 appearances to be in a top team like United who will 100% want to be challenging for Champions League and Premiership next season, European football this season was awful for us.

He scored more than 2 goals. But he's not a poacher, he does something like Rooney, drops deep to create space. And he's good at it. Why do you think we score 3-4 per game when he's starting, and maybe 1-2 when Hernandez starts ?

Relevant, I think

Gaitan hardly ever plays in the middle, he either plays left or right wing, even if he played in the middle at Boca. He is technically very good, can pull of some unexpected goals, can score from some distance, excellent on 1 on 1, good crosser, good finisher.
But his mentality certainly needs a change, this season for us, it was incredible his lack of commitment in the league, when compared to the champions league...

It is. With Hernandez we are not very flexible. It just doesn't work against team who defend 80% of game. If you give ball to Hernandez in box, he will score, but first, ball needs to find his way to Hernandez. It's hard to make space when you are surrounded with few defenders. He tries to drop deep but he's not really good at it. And that's why we struggle with teams like Blackburn, Stoke... But Hernandez is perfect for teams like Chelsea, L'pool, Arsenal who likes to play possesion game and play highish def line.
