The Manchester United Thread

suspect it may be 3-4 years too late to get anything worth while out of him on the pitch however will bring a winning mentality to many players who have never had it so could be more vital off the pitch

I suppose a player who scored 50 ish goals last season has nothing to offer also :O

This is my issue with the signing, his age and whether he will have that much impact in a competitive league.

I hope to **** I'm wrong and he turns out to still be a phenomenal player who can scores a lot of goals for us in the short term whilst giving us his mentality to the rest of the lads/young players to learn off.

Burton also reports that United were made aware of the possibility of signing Leicester forward Jamie Vardy, but decided not to make an offer because they do not want to block the path of Marcus Rashford by bringing in two new forwards.

By steering clear of Vardy, United believe they can sign Ibrahimovic and still offer Rashford a realistic chance at regular first-team football.

------------------

If this is true then I am happy the club is thinking correctly, signing Vardy would of been the wrong option for us definitely.

But what about Mourinho slaying all our youth :P

Only thing wrong with this is the fact that Vardy's RC is only for clubs in CL and even now Leicester fully intend to offer him a new deal to take out the RC. They have no intention of letting him go, but things may be out of their hands.

Still Zlatan even if he is 35 is a good signing and will probably be more than worth his huge wages.

I think people like to slag him off for that all too much, but we'll get a good indication of Mourinho's work with youth at United like nowhere else. Personally I think he will give youth a chance as long as they are good enough AND (big AND) they have the right attitude/mentality.

That's why I think Memphis may be a goner, his attitude is wrong.

Its an awesome bit of press to give the 'investment in Rashford/Youth' angle though.

Or am i just to cynical of the media machine in my old age?

Tbf if our only striker signing is Ibra it will clearly give Rashford a decent chance of having a fair amount of games at least this season. Whether you believe the press or not.

Read today that Wilson will also be given a chance next season as 3rd or 4th choice.

Massive debate on the quality of the French League in 5....4...3...2.... :)

^^^ What he said lol.

PSG win that league last season without Zlatan its a given for them, he can play at 50% and score goals because they are that far ahead of everyone else. He's been okay in the Champions League in the past 2 odd years not remarkable, not sure how thrilled he will be playing on Thursday nights mind lol.

Zlatan doesn't participate in 2nd rate competitions. He is Zlatan.

True, the new 20k contract is the indicator though, not a made up story.

you just see far too many of the "Yeah, we looked at him and decided not too" stories always with MUFC the day of/after a transfer.

Dunno if they actual do or the twitter press see player in news, ooh quick link with MU scouted = Hits/Clickbait.

I wonder how much they get paid, it seems so easy to do.... :D

Watched UIP earlier and Ogden said we are in for Pogba this Summer. Hope we greasing Riola in the Zlatan deal.

I do think its cute how many of you think Jose will give your youth a chance lol, no more Borthwick-Jackson, no more Fosu-Mensah, no more Donald Love, No more Varela and no more Perreira. Rashford has a chance 100% but only because he's already proven himself 10 fold. You all have to remember Jose has been appointed for 1 reason and 1 reason only and that's to win things instantly, get that winning trophy feeling back to Old Trafford again something its forgotten and unless its a special case i.e class of 92 you don't win anything with kids. Jose is a no risk manager and kids are a risk, sorry lads.
