The Manchester United Thread

Fm related, anyone had any problems uploading YouTube vids lately? I try to but all I get is a blank page

Mino Raiola: "Ibrahimovic to Manchester United? It is a great club, I have already decided, now it is up to him. He likes the club and loves the manager. We will see." (Téléfoot)

I agree which is why I told TOD earlier that I had misread his post
I don't expect him to score 50. But if he scores and assists half of what he did last season, we will be in a great place. Zlatan is here to be the flat track bully we missed that meant we didn't win the "lesser game". It will be the team that will win the big games.

Its a perfect signing. Just the type of big player to get the fans excited and the energy up after another disapointing season. Does bot block Rashford's development. Will be a big presence in the dressing room to rally the team. Will move a lot of merchanise off it as well.

I can't see any negatives with this one.

God the Euros is gonna make this a long summer. Don't usually mind but the quality of football has been pretty dire and cagey.

Bouafsi or what ever his name is reckons were close to having a 12m euro bid expected for Ounas. And today he started following Utd club on Twitter and Instagram and a fair few players on both also. Not that it means anything. But that bloke is very reliable with regards to French transfer news.

Here are Raiolas words regarding the situation.

"It would be a sin to stop talking," said agent Mino Raiola.

"I am a positive guy. If I wasn't confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn't try."

The Armenian has a year left on his contract and has told Dortmund he will not sign another deal, with United his preferred option.

Raiola added: "I am very proud Manchester United want him and the talks are being held in a good atmosphere with Dortmund at the minute".

And it's clear other long term signings are being made alongside him. Exactly what we want. So far.

Dortmund won't sell him unless they can replace him. That means them getting Schurrle and making profit. Whatever he goes for, expect us to pay more for MK

I expect the move to happen though.

Watched Embolo last few games at Euros, not been that impressed.
Can't judge anyone on the euros tbh. Especially after a couple of brief cameos of the bench and his debut start for his country. I admit his touch was poor at times but he showed good pace, strength and work rate and nearly put his team mate through on goal after a bit of nice play. Think he looked bit overwhelmed tbh. But like I said can't judge on this euro were Martial, Ronaldo, Lewa, Zlatan and a lot of good players have looked *****.

I dont rate him one bit. I really cant see what all the fuss is about. Yes hes young, but In my opinion if your good enough to step up to one of the worlds best clubs and probably the best league in the world, he needs to be doing more than what hes doing currently in a poor swiss league. To put it into perspective, look at what Rashford has done this year. If he was playing in the swiss league at his current level your probably looking at 20 league goals. Thats the level you should be at at that age in that level of league to go on to a top club.

Even Wilson. Imagine him playing week in week out in the Swiss league. Id be confident in him getting 15/20 goals a season playing for a top team in that division. So is it worth spending upwards of £20m on Embolo when we have our own capable of doing as good if not better without paying a penny? Just my opinion.

It's exactly that kind of logic that leads to players being missed out early. Kante the latest example. "Just a runner in a mid table French side, in a weak league" is now one of the best and most sought after defensive kids in Europe. The question to answer about embolo is whether he is better than Januzaj or Lingard, I think he is better than the latter, not the former, but has better application than Januzaj. If we were always this sneery we would never have got one of the best centre backs we had in Vidic

Wilson can't even get 20 goals in the championship.

Must say i havent been impressed by Embolo either and also feel that bringing him in may prevent proper development of our own youngsters.

But Mike is right. Watching his two sub appearances and one start on tv and not at the stadium where you would be able to see a number of things about his play that tv wont show you is not a serious evaluation of him. Also spot on about the dangers of being sneery towards certain types of leagues/teams

Not serious by three games obviously, two as sub appearance but when you are buying someone at this age you would usually see a spark or something at least to justify the hype. Honestly I saw nothing other than his physical build which would suit PL and work rate. But you can get many players with them traits, you need something more then that.
