The Manchester United Thread

Don't really see how Matuidi would constitute as a replacement for Pogba, they are not even similar types of players.

Where does our creativity come from in midfield currently, someone who can dictate the game? Bringing in another player like Matuidi won't solve that issue. Yes I like Herrera but his lack of passing range makes him less effective.

Schweinsteiger could but we can't rely on him to do it only and he might not stay free from injury/fitness issues.

Mata wouldnt be sold.

They'd want a lot and adding point 3 to yours - Would they even want to sell to United given the relationship between two clubs after the De Gea saga? My answer is no and he would go to another club. PSG/Chelsea/Man City... would all be want him I imagine.

Madrid will sell to where they get the best fee, and where he wants to actually move. I'd rule out PSG immediately. Not sure he would join Pep for definite either

Mata would be used as a 10 if any, still can't see him being here for long. I'm talking about our lack of creativity from central midfield. Having someone who can dictate the game from middle of the park would make a huge difference to our team.

Herrera, Carrick, Bastian can all do that.

And look at the rest of my post.

BREAKING: Sky sources: Man Utd begin talks over potential world-record deal for Paul Pogba. Personnel deal agreed: http://skysports.tv/Hupk3Z

Exactly. More importantly, how much would Kroos agitate, Modric is clearly the midfield king.
Kroos won't agitate, he just signed a 5 year contract and his place isn't even under threat(more on that later)

Kroos doesn't want to leave, his place won't be under threat, all that would happen would be Casemiro dropping to the bench and Kroos moving to DLP.Madrid is actually pretty happy Keylor got his moment in the light, so they aren't really unhappy about the DDG saga.
I wonder, if Madrid did indeed come in for Pogba, if 1, they'd allow Kroos to leave; and 2, just what sort of fee they'd want for him if they did having shelled out another World record on Pogba?
Lets consider for the sake of argument that Pogba does go to Madrid, Kroos wouldn't want to leave, Madrid wouldn't let him go anyway(5 year contract).

tl;dr: Kroos isn't leaving, Pogba or no Pogba

That's the move I would make with Kroos. Think Zidane must know Kroos shouldn't go.

The issue with having all three in there is that Kroos becomes the most defensive of the trio.

Zidane is a playmaker, no doubt he is dreaming of a midfield you can't stop from dictating play. Does feel slightly unbalanced though. Kante would make far more sense to me, then have Kroos and Modric in front.

Call me Mr cynical, but €120m on one player seems a bit insane to me.
Maybe I'm getting old, but that kind of cash can really go a long way in rebuilding a squad.

I think I'd rather see a clear out of players like Jones (who as you know, I f***ing despise), Fellaini, Rojo, Lingard, Januzaj and have them replaced with quality players, than vomit over 100 million on one player.
I suggest keeping lingard for the sake of the English quota.

Marcotti: Nothing new. Pogba will leave Juve if they receive an offer they can't refuse. Pogba himself is not agitating to leave Juve. He has more important things to do. If Utd match Juventus offer he could leave.

Erm, ... because he's a WBA level player in disguise as a UTD player maybe?

Always got the impression that players like Lingard and Wilson have been afforded more time and less criticism because they came through the youth ranks under Ferguson.

When neither are anything like Utd quality football players. Or what should be.
